Great food. All of the tacos we had were outstanding.
The service at the bar was just okay. Strange not to have the bartenders serve customers there. I would probably not sit in that location again.
Food to die for! Best tacos in YYC! Drinks were ok but the food was the star of the show. Definatelly going back soon!
Our server was excellent! It was my boyfriend’s birthday and they made sure it was special. Great food and great service!
Food was good
Drinks was good
My yam fries took awhile too come to my table
But overall good
Great atmosphere. The skewers and the kale salad were fantastic. The MS14 fries are a must try. The shrimp taco was very good but the pork belly taco was awful. They need a few more veggie options, the veggie tacos are just bad.
Came to Gringo Street for a birthday dinner, thought it would be a perfect time to check out the new happy hour that had been advertised. This experience was the absolute worst service I have ever received in my life, and put a damper on the birthday.
When we arrived we were seated promptly, as the restaurant was less than half full (I now know why). We were greeted by our server who asked if we’d prefer still or sparkling, and then asked if we’d like to order drinks. We both agreed on still, and asked for a margarita for happy hour. We asked if we could both have two different ones to try them as 15 seems like a lot to go through. She then told us how having two margaritas each on the table is illegal (which when they’re only 1oz, it’s not illegal). We said okay, my drink arrived after 10 minutes, and my dates drink was not brought at the same time, but 5 minutes later. We then ordered another round, so that we could try a few others before happy hour ended. At this point we still had no water. No one quality checked our first round of drinks, and it took 15 minutes (35 minutes in total) before anyone asked us for food.
Food was okay. Tacos came out cold for my date. We still had no water. The server did say she’d get a new taco for her but at that point we were so disappointed with Gringo St, the level of service and the experience all we wanted to do was leave. We are both servers and expect a decent level of service when we go out to eat but this place was the absolute worst service I’ve ever had in my life.
When the bill came the server informed us that the taco had been taken off and a drink for her birthday which was very nice. But I noticed a water charge on our bill and I mentioned to the server that the entire 1.5 hours we had sat there we never received any water, and her reply, “oh, classic. I’ll take care of that for you.” That response makes it seem like a normal thing for customers to be charged for water without receiving any
Never going back.
Service was maybe the best we have ever had. Will recommend you to everyone
Best happy hour in the city!!! Check it out asap!!
We loved it. It was happy hour so the prices were great. Food was delicious and drinks were very good.
Great atmosphere, awesome attentive service
Margaritas and tacos are awesome. The salsas and chips was also really tasty. We got everything the server recommended. We were served by Beth, who was awesome. Food was a little salty but very tasty. Will definitely go back.
Great food and would recommend this place for tacos and drinks.
The only negative thing of my experience is they changed their happy hour deals and when we asked the server she only replied with yes the tacos. We assumed it was the same as previously, the bill came and the special was not the same anymore. We ended up paying more than we were expecting to during our visit.
This should have been more clear upfront as we felt lied to and then it ruined our experience.
Loved it! The cocktails and tacos were amazing! Great service!
Great place! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. The food was very tasty for a great value. Drinks were amazing! Hats off to the bartender 😋
It took over 30 min to get a drink from time we ordered.
Great tacos , service was perfect . I would hang out here again 100%
They got rid of their happy hours for tacos! Boo but that’s ok all other taco places have happy hour. Service was just ok, drinks were ok but again the prices went up!!! Just over all not worth the money. At all. And not eager at all to accommodate allergies and preferences
We reserved a table but we were sat at the bar which we normally don’t mind. However the bartender came off as incredibly rude and obnoxious and was complaining about his staff the entire time which we found so unprofessional. Just not a great vibe when the entire staff is standing around the bar complaining about being there and complaining about the restaurant they’re working at. If you serve average food, you better hope you make up for it with amazing service. They did not. We won’t be going back there again.
I have been to Gringo Street numerous times for the quality of their food. The food is always very good and that has definitely been the main reason for going back.
Unfortunately this time our food took an over an hour to make, the restaurant was very busy, but it was a Friday night and we had a reservation so there was nothing about this that was out of the normal. When our tacos finally arrived, out of 24 of them only 2 were warm, the rest were room temperature if not cold. The tacos were still tasty, but it all started to fall apart for the restaurant when we told them about the issue. The food is rather pricey for the quantities you get, for a place that charges around $12 for a 2oz cocktail as standard and about $4.5 per street taco, we were hoping the long wait for the tacos meant they would be hot.
Management came and spoke to our table and apologized for the issue, and since we had decided to eat the tacos anyways as to not waste food, we were hoping that the issue would've been resolved on the bill in some sort of way as to regain our trust in the integrity they have in the food that they make. The manager on duty said she would look into working something out for us, but after this we never saw her again. She told our server what her solutions was and it was to comp one desert for our table of six which would've included one of their two desert options being 2 churros or a nutella style taco.
NO further effort was made to clarify this or hear us out, and one desert for 6 people who spent over $300 dollars and have been back for multiple visits, was borderline insulting. It was just enough to recognize something should be done about lacklustre quality of the food, but fell completely flat in recognizing return customers as worth more than 1/3 of a churro.
This approach acts as if the customer is not trust worthy, nor worth having back, and unfortunately I can no longer recommend Gringo Street nor return as a customer myself.
Creative and delicious cocktail menu! The food has great flavors and presentation. Definitely recommend.
Found this place to be far too loud to enjoy a conversation. The service was friendly but scattered, forgetting drinks, long wait to get our order in, different people asking us the same things again. We made a reservation and had the worst table in the place which was disappointing. The food was very good though, and if you are looking for really loud and energetic place you might really like it. Otherwise, I recommend takeout!
Service was quite slow. New employee being trained, no issue as it takes time to learn, but it took almost 20 min from getting the drink to someone taking our food order.
The food took a long time to be served and some of the tacos were not hot when they finally did arrive. The server apologized for the long wait so was aware of that. The food still tasted excellent but the length of time waiting and the Luke warm tacos made for a below average experience.
Our server Beth was incredible. She made the experience. Good food, great cocktails! Yumm
Wasn’t as good as I remember. Service was a bit slow. Food was cold.
Gringo Street did it again. Great food experience and fun atmosphere and the perfect cocktails for the occasion. Our vegetarian loved the cauliflower and cheese tacos. I tried the trio of skewers. They were excellent. Chicken is the best with the middle eastern seasoning. Great sized portions. Peanut guacamole rocked as usual. My wife loves the Latin Kings drink. We are coming back again for sure.
Everything was great until we went to pay. We wanted to use a open table cheque and they refused to take it. Our waitress and the hostess were nice and tried to explain why but offered to get the manager. He came over and was very rude about the whole thing says it’s not legal tender and they have the right to refuse it and wouldn’t discuss it further. It felt like he was accusing us for trying to rip them off when we just wanted to use the $26 towards our meal since we don’t get out often in this economic climate.
This place has gone downhill fast. None of the servers we met were there for more than one month. Food was the worst we had there.
Sad as it use to be good .
Amazing food and drinks as always. Service a little slow. Tried to order food before happy hour ended and our server seemed to be dodging us a few times.... had to flag her down 4 minutes before happy hour ended. Felt compelled to order less because our server wouldn’t take food orders and drinks at the same time which seemed a little counterproductive. I totally understand it gets busy but there must be a way to streamline the process, considering most people who come in before 7 expect the happy hour pricing.
Really tasty food and cocktails with a great Happy Hour.
Gringo street has become my favorite restaurants to go for any occasion!! The food is incredible, the cocktails are fun and the servers take the best care of you! I haven’t had a negative experience yet!
Love the food and the price but generally not a comfortable place to eat. We made a table reservation on open table because we didnt want to sit at the bar but when I got there the guy said there weren't any tables available, despite my reservation. We sat at the bar by the kitchen and it was SO hot and SO loud and we kept getting hit by everyone passing by. Also one of the cooks was very unprofessional, he was loud and swearing and getting mad at other employees. Was not a pleasant dining experience and even though I enjoy the food, I probably won't go back.
Corn bread is world class best I've had. That jalapeno oil they use is stellar but be prepared for a little payback the next day.
Fish tacos decreased in quality
Unreal food - the mushroom fundido and guiness braised short rib tacos are at the top of my list and you can never go wrong with the classic margaritas.
Our servers were fantastic, every restaurant should be so lucky as to have staff like that. The food was great for the most part, flavours were amazing. The only issues were with the tortillas for the tacos, they were lousy and the veggie tacos were really bad. Fix that and it is 5 stars.
One of my new favorite places. I know that I will be going there again.
Love sitting up at the bar where we can watch the cooks prep out food.
Delicious Gin martinis !
Nice night, enjoyed the Blood orange margaritas! Great happy hour prices
Love the tacos!
