Servers were new and a little slow to take orders. Overall okay but not the usual experience I’ve grown to expect at gringo.
We ordered tacos, spicy fries, chips and salsa.
Mango margaritas -drinks
Tacos weren’t that bad and chips and salsa was mediocre. However spicy fries with beef - was cold and just tasted awful. We both had a bite each and let the server know that we didn’t like it. She took the whole plate away and just apologized. Did not do anything to rectify the situation.
The drinks were so warm that we had to send it back and ask them to remake it.
Overall, I don’t know if I would be going back to this place.
Love this place and went on a date here. Date didn't go so well but Robyn was awesome. She served me quickly always made sure I had a drink in my hand and was a pleasure to talk to. Robyn definitely turned my date around so thank you !
Meat was super dry in all the tacos but they tasted good. Just had to use lots of fluids to wash down the dry meat.
Very loud but that’s life on 17th. The beef was so tough my friend could even chew hers. The ceviche at the table next to us was warm and off, she sent it back….. it smelled funky. Drinks were good, but most of the red wine on the menu they didn’t actually have so be prepared! Servers were great though!
Food and service were both excellent!
Taco toppings were cold.
Bad experience, went there to have fun but the unpleasant woman waiter keeps coming back to our table after we’ve already ordered and asking the same question, obviously wanting us to order more when we still have food and drinks on the table. Probably doesn’t care how annoying it was since they automatically get gratuity for party of 8. I liked this restaurant the first time I went but after this experience, will not recommend.
A decent but not outstanding dining experience. Pace of service was off with appetizers arriving before drinks. Drinks menu is extensive and would benefit from pared down to focus on what they can do well. 2 out of 3 cocktails were not great (poorly mixed), third was excellent. Some food was so fast as to feel rushed, another dish took a long time (but the staff warned about this, and the break was welcome). Noisy space. Better for a quick drink and bite than for a relaxing evening.
Our waitress was amazing however our hamburger came to the table uncooked. Red in the center. It took the entire stay to get another made in which we had to then leave.
The food here is amazing. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety in the food choices. I went for happy hour and tried a bunch of different cocktails recommended by my server. Our server was absolutely hilarious- we have never felt so well taken care of. The overall vibe of this place is cool and unique.
I’ll get this out of the way. Our server was great. Our issue was that we we waited almost an hour for our food. apparently there were some taco judges there who deserved more attention. The big problem with that? Only two tables were seated in the entire place. My colleague got his food about 25 minutes before the rest of us. Plus $13 for chips and salsa? Wild.
Good food and service.
Very good place for a date, good food, service was excellent
The food and drinks took a while. Our server was great personality wise, But we had a party of 6 and I guess they put autogratuity on for parties of 6 (which to me is weird? I think it was 25%) But either way the thing that we didn't like was that our server didn't tell us so a lot of us overtipped. The service was not worth 40-45% tip 😋
Amazon good, service was also on point. Love this place.
The food was AMAZING! All of the staff were incredibly friendly. Our server was Mikayla but we had assistance from the manager and the bartender too, everyone wanted to make sure we were having a great time. It was ladies night so all of our cocktails and margaritas were half off, which was such a treat since we hadn’t gone out in so long. The Colombian hot dog was the coolest spin I’ve had on a hot dog, and the guacamole was better than my mothers recipe! 10/10 would recommend anyone goes here
Excellent spot, fantastic cocktails and tacos
The tacos and arepa were excellent. I am extremely doubtful that there are 2 ounces in the margaritas. I used to love the spicy chorizo fries; however, they are over spiced with the seasoning which made them incredibly salty. We asked for more mayo to try and tone it down and they charged us $2.50. Seemed a bit steep. We will still be back, but sticking to the tacos, arepas and queso fundido.
Food is awesome at Gringo. Had the juiciest burger and Latin King cocktail (both great on the happy hour specials)! 100% be back again for a visit, thanks Gringo!!!
The drinks were way too sugary, the menu was paired down so much, and it just had an ‘off’ vibe about the place. Mid way through, we found out they have new management, so it made sense that Gringo Street, felt off.
Won’t be coming back.
Our server was amazing and made our experience a treat.
Previously had only had the tacos (which are great) but this time tried the anticuchos. Will definitely have them again.
The pork shoulder was amazing too
I’m sad to write this review because at first I thought these guys have it down. The vibe, atmosphere and music was cool, fun and unique... I thought I was in Florida however for the price it lacked finesse. We follow Gringo Street on Insta and have been planning a visit for awhile, their drinks are super interesting and yummy however their food although interesting concepts lacked flavour and everything was over salted... I watched Chef dose everything with piles of salt. We had the spicy crab guacamole, 8 different types of tacos and yam fries and every dish was the same... I was very disappointed. We sat at the kitchen table top and my husband was bumped in the back every time the waitress went by. We had two cocktails each then a beer and just after receiving our beers were told we had to leave... the front manager told us we only had 1.5 hours and we must go. We didn’t recall being told this but were then told I 100% told them... I guess customers aren’t always right...there we were having to guzzle our beers down, pay our bill and leave with heart burn after the guzzle. The experience left us feeling disappointed... my husband thought he might come back for happy hour where the value for your money might be there... I won’t go back. It’s too bad they really have the right concept...
They got us in quite quickly despite having a group of four on a busy Friday night. However, it took us well over an hour to get our food while we watched tables around us that showed up twenty minutes after us get the same food we were still waiting on. We were not apologized to once, and the server appeared quite oblivious to the fact that it was taking so long and did not check up on it until we prompted her to.
Great value during happy hour. The tacos are super tasty and interesting.
Even if you are not vegetarian, you must try their mushroom tacos and cauliflower tacos.
Food was just ok. Expected more. Service was distracted. Meh.
This is my second time dining at Gringo street. I was disappointed this time around as our tacos took a very long time to get to our table, and were already cold and the shells were dry and hard. Not so my first visit.
Got spilled/splashed in by the bar tender 3times with zero apology. We went earlier and reserved a table not bar top but we were given a bar top and they said no tables where available, after mentioning this to their supervisor, she explained that they gave out the table to a different group that’s why our only option was the bar top.
Not sure what to say about this but I don’t think that was great service at all.
The Tacos were amazing!! I love the thai coconut short rib and duck ones best. I also highly recommend the guava margarita. We came here for my friends birthday and they took great care of her- wishing her happy birthday and gave her a complimentary drink. The only negatives I took away was that they refused to modify any dishes (even though we only asked for no cilantro which they mentioned was a garnish on the nachos. Seems simple enough to just not put any on top when they are finishing the dish). They also ran out of plates and my tacos had gotten cold by the time we got any. Overall great service and good drinks
GRINGO St never fails to fill our belly’s . Decent service and happy hour.
Music was exceptionally loud and we had to yell across a small table to hear each other. Food and drinks, as always, we’re on point.
Service at times was a little confusing and delayed between our hostess/waiter and another waiter.
Food was amazing. Service fantastic. Only down side chairs where a bit uncomfortable for sitting long periods of time.
Great food, great service. We lucked out and hit the restaurant during a promotion and so most things were half price. Yay.
The tacos were unique and flavourful with great presentation. The smashed potato salad was a wonderful surprise. Not what I expected, but maybe I didn’t read the menu close enough.
Definitely will go back
My only nit pick. I reserved a table but got the two worst bar seats there are in the joint.
Super delicious! Loved the variety and the happy hour.
I won a giftcard to Gringo Street and was so excited to try it as I had heard great things. It did not disappoint! Our server and the other staff we interacted with were so friendly and the food was great! The happy hour pricing is excellent. Will definitely be back!
Food was overpriced and very noisy
One of our favourite restaurants. Chorizo fondido was fantastic ... probably the best yet and pineapple margaritas are my all time favourite here!! Great experience with new friends! We’ll be back!
The food was good but the service was slow, constantly waiting too long for another drink. Waitress was polite but she was too busy. My biggest complaint would be that the music was annoyingly loud. I wouldn’t go back if I had to sit where our table was located as our table was at the entrance- very drafty, uncomfortable and waitresses were constantly bumping us on their way due to lack of space.
Took a while for the server to initially acknowledge us and to get our first drink. After that it was a good experience.
