“Kobachi” means small dishes or appetizers, making it perfect for small groups of 2 to 4, where you can chat, drink & snack.
If you sit at the counter, why not chat with the chef? If you feel like eating something not on the menu, try asking for it & see what happens.
We keep seats for walk-in customers as well. No available seats on opentable does not mean we are fully booked. Please be aware that the time limited per table is two hours during peak hours.

We carry a large variety of Japanese Sake!
One of my favorite spots in the west end! Great selection of dishes and a fun atmosphere!
one of our favorite little places for drinks and izakaya fare/atmosphere!
We go to this Guu location regularly and LOVE it. The ambiance is great, and the staff is lovely. Food is always stellar. We highly recommend! (Favorites include taco bowl with cheese, tofu nuggets, tuna tataki, chicken karage).
They offer a large variety of small plates (4 for $17) that are a great value. It’s largely in the salty-savoury bar snacks category but quite tasty. The staff are SUPER friendly too.
Fun, vibrant, electric atmosphere. Excellent Japanese food with a twist. Enjoyed the seaweed salad with tofu. Catch of the day blowtorched sashimi was very good. Black sesame ice cream topped off the meal. Not your typical Japanese restaurant, much more fun!
We love Guu! We visit every two weeks or so. Food is delicious, and the staff is lovely. Always enjoy our experience.
Great food and nice presentation. Servers are friendly.
Small plates 4 at a time with many drinks, and a some extra options carbs to fill up with. A great night out.
The food was excellent, but the service was exemplary! The sake flights were perfect and the staff took the time to understand each person at the table to make the right recommendations based on each guest’s individual tastes. They were also really great about the fact that we stayed way longer than normal after we finished out meal (sorry about that to both the other guests and the staff, BTW!)
Overall we had an amazing time and we are definitely going back soon!
Unpretensious locale with absolutely fantastic Japanese food and spirits selections. Staff Service was helpful in choosing from the rich list of specials. I do highly recommend it.
Good for happy hour or late night snacks. Not recommend for dinner because the portions are so small. Great service!
A great place to go if u drink and want to nibble on some small eats, food and drinks are both good. If you eat alot and dont drink maybe this is not the most suitable place, the food portion is quite small.
I do like the place, service is good, drink is good, food for the most part is good too, but the portion is TINY, its really a drinking place, you drink and order some small eats, not exactly the place for a family dinner, great for drinkers get together.
Can not say enough good things about this Guu! Wonderful atmosphere and service. I've been coming here for years, and bringing various people that I really care about in my life. I love the food, and fun atmosphere. They always make you feel so welcome. I love the variety of food available, and it's a chance to try new things. They are always innovating. This place is so Guuuuuuuu'd!
Good food, good service. Definitely the best one among the group. :D
Just a few blocks from the bus stop, it was a nice alternative to something near the hotels. Authentic , with lively atmosphere and friendly staff.
Soup spelled on my pants! Otherwise is an excellent dining experience
Eye-appealing, delicate, tasty, and fresh dishes; budget-friendly, great service and vibrant vibe; wooden and authentic beautiful interior design.
Excellent service - we made a reservation, but walked right in when they opened at 5:30. Service at this location is SOOO much better than their location in Richmond. Good suggestions based upon our desires and the sake and Guuud Ale was perfect. Being the good Japanese we are, we requested and received omusubi to finish off our izakaya meal and were perfectly satisfied. The Brussels sprouts, deep fried edamame and eggplant were just divine. The sashimi was perfect and overall, definitely going back! Very reasonably priced for such an interesting and lovely meal.
This was a great resturant. The only reason I took off points is because they brought out people's food separately and we were in a larger group.
The food was delicious and I would definitely try it again.
Very young but accommodating staff very efficient and we were served quickly tasty dishes had to order more and brought a small custard dish with a candle for my birthday girl and fairly reasonable to
Great food - one of the better Guu's I've been to. The service was great, and we were especially happy with the recommendations for the sake flight. My friend had never tried sake before and is now in love with it.
If you've never been to a Guu before, it's sometimes a bit easier to get into this one as it hasn't quite become the same sort of neighbourhood hot spot as the other locations - but you can get better service at this location due to the fact that they can actually be a bit more attentive. Overall, we were very happy with the experience.
There was the service, the kitchen and the waiters pretty bad . They did not speak English well and the food eas served after 30 minutes each course. I would not recommend the place and I am disappointed with the 5 stars it is rated by Open Table if I give one star I may be doing them a favor

I been there and I thank that was one of my different and real experience in Vancouver about Japanese food
Distinctive in neighbourhood. If you want to try a Japanese flare with hint of fun, this might be the place.
Space is narrow and seating limited. Might not be the best for groupies or special occasions. Quickly after opening around 6 pm grts hextic, like all other izakayas in downtown. But that's what Izakaya is for, if you know its authenticity. I'm just glad no one gets to smoke inside the place.
Food is hard to describe. Becareful of your choice of the menu. Make sure to read the ingredients lay out and ask for brief explaination on your adventurous palate. You might get raw sea snail with soy sauce.
Price is typical.
Ambience is loud.
Chairs are stiff.
Servers are casual, like the place and its music.
This location has unique interior decor, so check it out.
Food tasted great, went here with a party of 11, and everyone enjoyed it.
Great otherwise but please think about the music, totally not right for the ambience. Good service, great food.
We had to ask three times for water to be served. Waited for over 30 minutes for just sashimi. We waited and waited for the rest of our orders (Ebi mayo, beef tongue, etc.), but turns out our waiter forgot to even submit those orders for us - so we had to leave half hungry as we were running late for a concert.
Izakaya style restaurants are my favorite and this may be my favorite Izakaya.
We normally visit Guu on Robson, but they did not have any seating. Decided to try out Guu Kobachi. Great choice...great food, great drinks, and great service. My other half and I had a great experience and will be coming back again!!
Good Izakaya joint for a fun friends/family dinner gathering!
Very original and wonderful fresh fish menú, very good service and great price value relation
Great option for late dinner. The tofu with cashews it's a must!!!
It's worth going for the curry beef poutine alone. Friendly staff and a festive vibe.
Great atmosphere. The staff was very attentive to our table and needs throughout our meal.
The food was excellent, the service prompt and friendly.
Random dinner with wife and Saturday night, surprised me there a familiar face in this restaurant, chef is coming from aberdeen centre guu. Place is good and good is even better. Will definity go there again.
