    Food was good. Service was poor. Our server was rushed, missed an appetizer, brought appetizers after the main course, never checked in, and was simply never there when needed. On the whole, it ruined the experience.

    We made a reservation at 5 and they don’t even open until 5:30. We waited outside for 30 min. Also Karage wasn’t as good as it usually is. Still very good but not quite 5 stars

    Guu is one of my favourite spots for a casual, but absolutely delicious dinner with friends. I brought a group of artists visiting Vancouver for the first time, and they raved ate every single dish. Everything was served perfectly, the portions are ideal for sharing, and the menu is so unique and inventive. This place is consistently amazing all around!

    this is a legit izakaya with the bustling kitchen & servers, boisterous crowds, vast selection of small plates... the food we ordered was so delicious, we ended up ordering more of a couple of the dishes. 4 days in vancouver, i this was absolutely my favorite meal.

    We come here often and love the energy. Can’t go wrong with most dishes, but the Sukiyaki and Kimchi Udon are probably my faves. The banana tempura for desert is great too!

    Made a reservation for 3 but one friend couldn't make it. The server said I have to wait for the next 2-seat table. - _-||| No tuna yukke, no kabocha... Very few dishes to choose now.

    We have been coming to this Guu location for many years, and their execution of food has gotten much worse. The tempura batter was oily and hard, and the oden broth was tasteless. We were very excited to come and we’re all very disappointed. Don’t think we will come back since there are many other good izakaya and Japanese food options in Vancouver.

    I was there as part of a group of four, and the ambience, service, and food were all excellent. Prices are also very reasonable. Recommend ordering a bottle of their house brew and the ma-po eggplant dish, if available.
