Best japanese bbq

Very tasty food, excellent price and service. Fabulous Dine out menu . must upgrade rice and add premium ribeye to the course .

The food here is incredible! So many drink options too, so thats always fun. Our server (sorry, I forgot your name) was so sweet and attentive.

Wonderful service and excellent food. My family loves this location. It's not as busy as another location. We find the service is better here.

Food was great. Value is good if you go on Monday for their all day happy hours.

Great selection of food. Highly recommend the garlic noodles! And great dessert options as well. Our server was super nice and made sure we understood the menu.

A great place to take my friends (and students) who are returning to their home countries. I enjoy making use if their points system, as well as take advantage of the weekend value promotions.
I especially like the Broadway location because the place is cozier but spacious(?).

This was a great little spot. My BF is on the Carnavore Diet which limits your options. This had some really great options for both of us. Reasonable price for the quality of food. Service was great and its a fun time.

This is a gem of a restaurant. I love the food, service and restaurant. The servers are amazing and the manager Simon is great too! I lived in Japan, used to frequent the Japanese BBQ and this is the closest thing I’ve found to it in Vancouver. I give it 5 stars all across the board!

We went there for my birthday. We always order a lot of meat but this time the filet mignon was all fat and impossible to chew it. It was very disappointing. They use to give us three dipping sauces and now it’s only two for some reason. The server never came back to see how the meal was or if we needed more drinks.

My husband and I visited this location with a friend. That friend wanted to have the grill menu which is good for 2+ people but since hubby and I weren’t that hungry, the friend ordered a bunch of his own meat dishes.

The food was delicious! If anything, this place is worth the food!

Lost opportunity when there’s no menu for someone to order the bbq menu for 1 person!

Also, hubby was chewing his dessert when the server brought over the debit machine. WTF!! There was no obvious lineup of people waiting for a table.

She also, without asking how the bill had to be divided, divided up our bill in 3 equal splits when in fact, my husband and I wanted ours separate from our friend since he ordered so much meat. That was not cool since we now paid so much more than what we budgeted for.

The host(male) was very rude upon sitting us down. Our waitress was so sweet which changed the mood. Food was decently priced given the taste is very good. Overall an okay experience

I liked the precautions they put in place for Covid-19. Felt very safe. Every table was a table apart, and temperature was taken upon entrance and we had to sanitize our hands before bein seated. Reservations were mandatory and each party had 2 hours to dine. This is my third time here. Food was enjoyable and drinks were great.

The best food ever

Not their full menu as only limited menu being offered at this time, but still a great selection to choose from.

First time going to a Japanese BBQ - it was really fun to try out. Food was really good. Heavy on the meat but there are vegetarian options as well. Easy to order. We had bibimbap, takoyaki, rice, gyoza, butter and cheese corn, and beef, pork and zucchini for BBQing - one order each. Couldn’t finish it between 2 women but leftovers are always great. $50 but because we went on a Monday - all day happy hour - everything was cheaper.

It was second time to visit Gyukaku.
Last time, we had a great meal with HH price. Even low price, quality was good. So my son wanted to have his birthday dinner at Gyukaku.

This time, drink OK, server GOOD, but MEAT,,, WHAT HAPPENED???
Meat smelled bad. At first, I didn't say anything to my husband. But I carefully asked my husband and he said he also thought meat quality was bad.
Meat smelled bad and too much marinade sauce on it.

I like many kinds of drink selection there. And my family loves BBQ Sukiyaki Bibimbap.
I hope that it was just something wrong this time.

Great experience as usual at Gyu Kaku on Broadway!

New covid practices implemented so the experience is understandably different. We went during dinner (not happy hour) and the menu was very limited. Disappointed the bibimbap is not being served in the stone bowl. That’s my favourite item on the menu so it was not worth it especially since the portion seemed smaller and also was not hot. Other bbq food is still good. Staff was friendly but due to limited numbers of staff you don’t really get checked on as much. This was the first restaurant I wanted to go to once restaurants started opening up so I was a little disappointed but understand that this is the new normal. We will be back but we will just adjust what we order or maybe only come during happy hour.

First time at Gyu-Kaku after they re-opened under their new COVID-19 rules. Food is still great, we ordered the special Kansha set meal. Dipping sauces are provided in little takeout containers instead of bottles on the table, but was enough for us. Ishiyaki bebimbap was mixed in the kitchen rather than at the table, then served on a plate, so unfortunately had no crispy bits. With fewer tables to look after, the servers are even more responsive and efficient. Atmosphere suffers a bit, seems less energetic, but felt safe!

Our server this Saturday afternoon was a bit overworked, so the table and floor needed a wipe, one item was missing/late, and we had to prompt for tea refills and a grill change, but our food was reliably good.

Took my boyfriend here for his birthday. He really enjoyed the food. Cocktails are good as well.

BBQ in a booth, worry free about getting close to other people. Comfortable to dine even at this special situation.

Good service and food. Didn't leave this unit with a strong smell of smoke in the clothes, better than Nelson location.
