Gyu-Kaku - Edmonton, AB
Had a chance to sit up stairs, highly recommended if you get the chance!
Interactive meal that will have everyone having a blast! Super tasty! Amazing service! Fab prices
Neat tasty food
Some of the server are great, food quality was good but too pricey if it’s not under happy hour. Most likely not going repeat.
When i came in it was a very welcoming vibe. We sat down and the server was really attentive and nice. Food selection and sets are great. Server will provide a guide how to cook the meat properly. Overall, it was a great experience and great food.
Staff was very nice and the food is wonderful.
We love bringing new people here! My aunt and uncle had a special 40th anniversary evening we happened to miss, they’re quite picky when it comes to food and we wanted them to experience something new. Additionally we had family in from out of town so we did a huge family dinner and everyone had a great time. It was quite a busy family day in the restaurant but this is one of our favourite places.
Outstanding group dinner with friends. We ordered a set menu for 8 ppl for $240 which was really a good price. There was excellent salads, appetizers and then an assortment of different meats for grilling. The service was excellent also - very affable waiter/waitresses and the manager was also very good. Overall, an extremely positive experience and we will definitely be going back.
Excellent in every way. Highly recommended. We been here twice already and definitely this won’t be the last.
First time we came in and the food & service were too notch. 100% will come back.
Great experience! It was our first time there and the menu was easy to navigate, provided good suggestions and made the night simple! We were able to select our own items instead of a platter and it turned out great. Double-up on the filet mignon dipped in Ponzu!
Frequent Gyu Kaku quite often and the last few times the quality has gone down.
Good food. Glad I went.
We were one of only two parties of five for the entire time we were at the restaurant, and the restaurant had a larger table free all of that time. However, the staff member seating guests refused to give us (or then other group) that table all of that time, having chosen to keep it unused instead - inexplicably.
The manager was really kind. I went there for my girlfriend’s birthday and the manager was very accommodating. He got us a quieter spot and made sure we were taken care of. Food of course was fantastic as always too!
Everything was great. A bit in expensive side but overall good
We hated it today. we go to gyu kaku regularly and we always loved the food and the service. but today it was terrible. to start off with the appetizers the “steamed” dumpling was cold it almost felt like raw. we were hungry and when it was pointed out by my fiancee that it MIGHT be raw it was all gone. my fiancee’s brother noticed how cold it is too. if we get sick tomorrow I think we know why. next is the salad it was okay then 20mins has elapsed we still got no meat to grill. they brought our sukiyaki bibimbap. our server was so nice to stir it and “scrape” the sides it was awkward looking at him stir and scrape our bibimbap in a regular ceramic bowl, we are all wondering what he was doing. as a regular in gyu kaku my fiancee then finally asked the waiter why it is served on a regular bowl and not the hot stone pot they usually come in. waiter responded they ran out and it is dirty still. taste was terrible,we might as well got plain rice.onion was raw.we were hungry so we ate some of it.40mins in and still waiting for the meat.we finally complained to their manager about it. he just said they are short of staff and it was busy. in our mind it is not an excuse for a sloppy service and food. at 8:45pm we finally got our veggies and meat. that is the only time they fired up the grill. we were excited to grill our meat but then after 30mins trying to cook our filet mignon cube it was still raw in the center and no sear at all. the grill was on but it is not hot enough to cook the food. manager offered us to be transferred to a table. it was so awkward transferring all our food to another table. again as a regular customer this by far the worst service I got and worst food I got from this restaurant. there are times that we felt like our server had forgotten us. I dont think we will be back anytime soon from the food and service today. highly disappointed. the only thing that tasted great was the water.
I am impressed with manager and workers who willing to work it out with person had celiac with gluten free options. Willing to exchange with equal cost of options we chooses. Thank you.
Parking in downtown can be a pain but it's worth the trouble.
I highly recommend the Meat Lover combo, good for 3 ppl!
Good food & serves
Good place to go with a group or for a date. Fun to cook your own food and you get a lot.
Waiter never explained that we could get the grill exchanged. Also not very personable service provided. Could have checked in to see if we needed anything during our meal.
Food was good. Service was ok, just took a long time to get the food. It seamed like the heat was broken, very cold inside. Had to keep my jacket on.
Love coming here with friends. The set menus they have for different numbers of people are great. Even after adding some appetizers and drinks, once the bill is split (if you do that) the price is lower than you expect. The food itself is delicious and I love that you get to keep socializing during the experience. It's not sit down, eat, then talk afterwards. You can talk to each other while you cook and eat. Tell your friends which meats/veggies you like. Overall a great experience and always has been anytime we've come to Gyu Kaku
Food was amazing, I will be coming back next time with my whole family!
Great experience. We will be back.
While they didn’t seem too busy, the service was quite slow. It also would have been beneficial to have the server go through the menu.
Clean, warm and inviting atmosphere. Excellent service and delicious food. We had a great experience and would recommend this to anyone who would like to try a fun new dinning experience. A special thank you to Joon the manager who went out of his way to make sure we had an amazing evening.
Went there for lunch, it was my first time every to Gyu-Kaku. I enjoyed my 3 item lunch combo and the server was very helpful, she explained the grill time for the pork belly, short rib beef, etc. She changed my grill one time because I burnt my pork belly a bit. I enjoyed the food, it was very tasty, I look forward to coming back to trying the other items!
Quality and quantity have gone down but price has increased significantly
My sisters surprise 22nd bday
First time there & definitely won’t be our last. Food was great & lots of it! My son know wants to cook!!
The food is always amazing, along with the great service once you are seated.
The only frustrating part is always the beginning of the experience.
It’s incredibly hard to speak to someone on the phone. And once you arrive, there is never a host. We had a reservation for 1:30, but the table wasn’t set up until 1:45/1:50.
Due to the lack of host/hostess, the people behind us had left because visually it seemed like a large line.
It’s probably my 3rd time dining at this location, and it’s been the same. Even with a great dining experience, the first impression has always been lack lustre. If only they could fix that.
Fantastic food, really love coming here. The service feels a little disorganized at times but today was better than the previous time I came.
Excellent food and fun interactive dining experience, it makes going out to eat more of a fun activity than a mundane boring meal. It can get a little pricey though and is definitely sharing family dinner type food
A great choice for an interactive and very social dining experience! Nothing like cooking food as a group that brings people together. A bit on the pricy side, but the food is delicious. I did find the restaurant temperature a bit cool, so make sure you ask for a table away from the door.
Loved going to this place in Calgary, so happy that they're open in Edmonton now! Food is so delicious!
