The rice is terribly dry and hard. The way they put rice is how Japanese put for deceased person. Beef tongues was smelly, we assurm the handling at kitchen is not well.

Our server Rui was terrible. We told him 3 times we were celebrating 2 birthdays and he didn’t do anything for us. Another table was also celebrating a birthday and Rui along with a whole bunch of other servers sang happy birthday with the whole ensemble of tambourine, etc. At the end we told him we were celebrating a birthday AGAIN (we even brought a cake) and he blankly goes “and…?” Many times he rolled his eyes when we requested something simple like water. He says “yeah yeah yeah” when we asked him for something. So rude!! Worst service ever !!!!

Music is too loud inside, the server asked us to wait for more than 10 Minutes even though there were clearly empty table available inside. We waited for another 20 mins for the food to arrive. Total of 30 minutes wasted.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gyu-Kaku in Richmond, BC. From the moment we entered, we were met with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately set the tone for the evening. Ambiance: The restaurant has a cozy Japanese décor. The highlight, of course, is the built-in grill at each table which promises a personalized, interactive dining experience. Service: The staff are well-trained and attentive without being intrusive. They took the time to explain the menu thoroughly and offered excellent suggestions tailored to our preferences. Food: Where to start? The range of meats, from wagyu beef to pork belly and chicken, are of excellent quality. The marinades are flavorful but not overpowering, allowing the natural taste of the meat to shine through. Vegetarian options and an array of appetizers and sides round off the menu, making sure there's something for everyone. Cooking Experience: The DIY aspect of grilling your own meats may seem daunting to some, but it actually enhances the dining experience. It creates an atmosphere of communal enjoyment and conversation that is too often missing in our fast-paced lives. Price: While it's not the cheapest dining option, you get what you pay for. Considering the quality of the ingredients and the overall experience, I found it to be good value for the money. Eventhough I made reservation almost 2hrs prior, I still had to wait 15mins to be seated. The server was nice, food came slower than usual, but it was delicious as always.

Our server Eileen was friendly. Didn't expect they're busy even on a Tuesday. There's a line when we left around 7:30pm.

Gyu Kaku should reduce the music level. Also needs a bit of cleaning beyond just a wet wipe across the table top. At our table the gas control panel was hanging down by a small hose :>( !! Maybe dangerous.

What’s the point of making a reservation? I had a reservation for 7:15. When I arrived there was 2 people in-front of me and I waited until they were done to check in. There was no one at the front and we waited 15 minutes check in? By the time someone came it was 7:30 and she told me she cancelled our reservation for being late even though I was there since 7:15. We ended up waiting another 30 minutes and didn’t get seated until 7:50?! waited over 25 minutes for appies which came out cold, thn waited another waited 25 minutes for raw meat to come out rice came out when we were half way done our meat then the cheese fondue came out when all the meat was finished (we were already eating for 30 minutes) Overall terrible expeirence this time.

Such amazing food! We got the meat variety combo with a few extra veggie dishes, and it was the perfect amount for 4 of us. This has become my birthday tradition.

Had the 4 ppl course meal. Lots of food for 5 ladies. Dessert was included. Service attendant was good as she was the one that told us the course was enough food for us so we didn’t have to over order (wasting food). We weren’t rushed to eat and we had good conversation time during the meal. Each dish was introduced to us. Drink prices were reasonable. A place I would recommend. I will be going again.
