Attractive venue and attentive, friendly service but the food was not impressive. We would have expected more interesting dishes given the reputation of the chef/owner and almost everything we had was not well seasoned. Wine list rather limited and the wine we chose was not available although the substitute was acceptable.

We had been to Harrison's before about 3 years ago and we're excited to go back and try it again! It has changed named to Bistro H but is much the same but some more casual eats as well... we had the slow cooked lamb shoulder.... HIGHLY recommend it is amazing and very filling! Would recommend it with the Paris Mash and beans but maybe skip the entree! It's a big meal if it's just for 2. The staff are amazing there, such attention to detail it's our favourite restaurant!!

We enjoyed the entree however the main was extremely disappointing. We ordered the $90 chateaubriand for two and by the time it arrived it had evidently been sitting on the pass under the heat lamp for quite some time- the meat was dried, hardened and congealed. We tried a bit but it was pretty unappetising and given it cost $90, we called over a waitress to inform her. We were not followed up and had to approach the manager ourselves 35 minutes later, at which point she blamed the inexperienced waitress, and also us because it had been half an hour. I understand new staff might not be the best placed to deal with complaints, however the manager's conduct was also not professional. Over all a really frustrating experience. Service was generally extremely slow- in addition to the meat ordeal, we also waited twenty minutes for a bottle of wine to be delivered to our table. They did eventually (reluctantly) take 50% off the price of the meat.

The food and wine were lovely and the atmosphere was great. It was the perfect spot to celebrate NYE. My only quibble was the fact that the portion sizes were a bit small for the cost. When paying $34 for Barrumundi, and more for sides, I would like a more generous portion. Other than that, the service was very helpful, the children were well provided for with children's meals and drawing items, and the verandah was a beautiful space.

Lovely restaurant with a new and fresh menu. The service was wonderful with fabulous recommendations. Loved the feeling of being on a veranda with friends. It was great - if you are in Port Douglas do yourself a favor and go!

Food seemed to have been copied from other quality restaurants I have been to. Fish was tasteless and disappointing. Service was good but waitress did up-sell us larger 850g fish when we could have easily shared the smaller 750g fish. Chips tasted as if they had been cooked in old oil and were greasy. Entrees were the highlight. Probably would not go back next time in Port Douglas.

Service when booking was very good, especially when I needed to make changes prior to our booking and then again when we arrived, however, the service offered when we were actually seated was poor. I actually had to ask for menus and when we asked for another bottle of wine we had to help ourselves. There seemed to be a reluctance in seeing if we wanted dessert. The feel of the restaurant was beautiful however as this was something we had been looking forward to for sometime our overall experience was mediocre.

We dined as a group of six on a quiet Sunday evening on a friend's recommendation. It was perhaps unfortunate that the chef/boss was absent. Some of the food was excellent, inventive and tasty. Some just missed the mark, and the special sirloin steak was an appalling piece of meat. Although quiet, with only a handful of tables occupied, the service was slow. Worst of all was the condescension of one waitress who asked us "what are we all going to do for the rest of the night"? Poor experience.

Service was great and local food was amazing! Only downside was not the fault of the restaurant but Open Table who had not passed our booking onto the restaurant so it was lucky they had a spare table for 6. I'd recommend booking directly with the restaurant.

We were 5 70 year old ladies celebrating our big birthdays. Had read some reports re poor service etc, but we were treated as though we were royalty from arriving till we left. The food was delicious, wine was to our liking and the water and waitress were very attentive and knew their specials and we thoroughly enjoyed a great experience. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience very different and delicious "bush tucker" flavours. I had the scallops which were superb, others had the Barramundi and our desserts were old favourites with a modern twist. Well worth a visit.

We always visit Harrison's when in Port Douglas. We enjoy the amuse buche and the food offered on the a la carte menu. We were disappointed on this visit not to be offered a food menu until we asked for it so we could decide on our wine. Our wine took a long while to come and we had to ask for it when our entree arrived. Our glasses were not routinely refilled.

We went to this restaurant as it was classed as fine dining. My husband tried ringing the restaurant on the day of our booking, which went to answerphone. He never did receive a phone reply at all. So I tried to book through Open Table which said I could book at 6.30 p.m. so we booked and received confirmation promptly from Open Table. When we arrived at the restaurant, they had no written record of our booking, and were off-hand about that. We were left standing waiting wondering what now, while they attended to others who had just arrived. Overall we were not impressed and wont be recommending it to others.

The restaurant was clearly overbooked and the staff couldn't cope. On arrival we were promised complimentary bread and olives make for expected before meals served. They even forgot those.

Great food that took for ever to arrive. We were a big group but two and half hours to get our main course was far too slow. Our teenaged should have been fed first as continued questioning why the food had not arrived just increased the tension. The place didn't seem under staffed but there was a lack of staff that could do anything, they kept referring to the head person. Anyway great food ruined by very substandard service.

You arrive at Harrison's to the most magical environment, such a special place. Arrived at 7pm and unfortunately the restaurant was not initially adequately staffed but this did change for the better within 30 mins. Would recommend that Harrison's consider having a dedicated Maitrede to ensure that arriving guest as seated promptly and provided with menus to start the dining experience. The food and wine was outstanding and would come back again.

Beautiful food but very poor table service, waiting 25 minutes before being offered a drink or getting the menu. My husband was given a glass of red wine, however it was only half a serve as this is all the bottle had in it. When he queried this he was given another half serve in another glass, very strange! Harrisons sister restaurant Bucci offers excellent food & service without charging the prices Harrisons does. Don't mind paying the prices Harrisons charge, however for this we expect much better table service than what we and others dining the same night were given

We are regular diners at Harrison's. It used to be great with good food, good service and was reasonably priced for the quality of food on offer. Over the last 6 months the quality has dropped especially with regard to the wait staff. They chat to one table for 10 minutes while ignoring all others. Our water and wine glasses were left empty. With only 3 tables occupied and two waiters this is unacceptable. Also had to wait an hour for food. Harrison's used to be one of our favourites. Not now!

I had the tasting menu at Harrison's for dinner and every single dish was delicious. Plenty of seasonal/local produce and the different textures and flavours made a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is very nice and the service was excellent.

I booked Harrison's for a birthday celebration and whilst the food was really very good, unfortunately the service and staff seem to be having some coordination issues, we ended up waiting an hour for our entree and another 45 minutes for our main, which was wrong when it arrived..... It's a shame as the food and atmosphere were lovely. Here's hoping the new Manager manages to sort it out!

We have dined here several times previously. Last night was terrible. Food was nice but service was amongst the worst experienced anywhere in the globe. 3 pages of notepad feedback left, Harrison's please take note as the front of house staff let the whole experience down.

Harrisons is consistently the best restaurant in Port Douglas but doesn't rest on its laurels. The menu is modified regularly so there's always sonething new to try. Excellent wine list too.

After seeing Harrisons in the GMT Restaurant Guide, my partner and I were keen to try it on our recent trip to Port Douglas. It's the only restaurant in Port Douglas included and I can see why. The quality of the food was outstanding. The scallops I had were divine and my partner's asparagus lovely too. The lamb shoulder we shared was delicious and very generous. On the whole the service was pretty good too but not the best we've had. We will be back on our next trip, that's for sure!
