HAWELI Indian Kitchen & Bar Downtown
Excellent food and service, great value for the money. I will definitely come back!
Overall Haweli is always great! This time, we went for my birthday on Valentine's Day. They had a special Valentine's buffet with more stuff than usual and only minor thing was the one potato dish was underdone. Chocolate fountain was a nice touch. My bestie had snuck in a cake, and the staff had perfect timing lighting candles and bringing it to table.
The lunch buffet had a wide variety of choices, and freshly made naan. The pakora was a little dry and the gulab jamun was mushier than I like it, but overall a tasty meal.
Open table did not have any info on the reservation page re: a Saturday buffet option.
On the reservation details I asked for a wheelchair accessible table. We arrived to the restaurant for a 4:30pm reservation for 6 people on a Saturday. There was a sign with the buffet promotion announcement and a flight of stairs.
I complained to the waiter re: the flight of stairs and never receiving a call to let me know they were not wheelchair accessible or to offer options if available. The waiter was confused. At first, he said the person in charge of checking open table reservations was on vacation (not my problem) and after he sat us down, he came with a tablet to show us they had no record of the reservation (again, how’s that my problem?). He gave us the option to wait for the buffet to be ready @5pm or order from the menu. We chose to wait for the buffet.
We were celebrating my mom’s birthday so we made the best of the situation, we drag the wheelchair up & down the stairs, and stayed for the buffet.
The buffet offered good options and the food was good for a buffet. We enjoyed the restaurant’s decor and took advantage of it for pictures.
I am, however disappointed with Open Table and the restaurant for not having a record of the reservation and my reservation details.
Great place for a work lunch; quiet and a good selection of food
Date with kids - was a nice meal
Buffet was excellent.
Consistantly one of Canada's finest East Indian ( or in fact any type ) restaurants. Nice room with fabulous food.
Best buffet at great price. A huge but still intimate in feeling. Great service by their staff.
Food was good but the service was poor. This negatively affected our experience.
A real surprise gem! The buffet was great and the service excellent!
First time there but it won’t be my last!!! I look forward to my next visit!
Still the best in Edmonton . None to compare to this location.
Great Indian food!!
The service is fantastic, friendly staff.
When we travel to the City we like to always go here for dinner; although it has been a few years since we ate there, so we were really looking forward to it. The menu has changed quite a bit and there is no papadoms which is our favourite part of Indian food. The samasas were over cooked and dry and the chicken in our butter chicken was dry as well. We had six different dishes and were not overly impressed. This place we always used to recommend, but I think we won’t be trying to again and looking else. Perhaps new owners or new cooks. The atmosphere is nice and the level of noise is great, but unfortunately the food is nothing to rave about.
Food was really good. The naan bread was the best part of the meal!
No one was there to greet us and therefore did not mark our reservation properly on Open Table.
The buffet was phenomenal! We went at lunch and there was tons of choices!
Great food but expensive. In last year price has gone from $11 to $19 for brunch.
Very tasty food in the buffet; Many options to choose from. Friendly waiters.
My husband and I went there before a hockey game with a Groupon. The buffet had great selections and the service was friendly. I hoped the dishes would be spicy but they are definitely trying to please everyone so everything was pretty mild but still flavourful. We looked at the happy hour menu and would consider going back just for that.
Made reservations with OpenTable but none of the staff were aware. Maybe they don’t know they have it, don’t actually use it, or don’t know how to use it?
Food was delicious.
Service was ok. Definitely not as good as other near by restaurants.
Food from the buffet was tasty but not very hot at all. Service was horrible.
Food was excellent, service could have been better. Waiter only came by once and did not bring the bill, had to go the the cashier to get my bill. It was very empty so he was not busy.
We made a reservation for this restaurant. When we got to there, nobody was at the front to greet and seat us. We waited for about 5 minutes. Eventually someone came to seat us and letting us know ow it's a buffet tonight so anything else would take too long so we decided to have the buffet. Most of food was mediocre but the pakoras, tandoori chicken and butter chicken were good. Some of the fruit looked like it was sitting out for too long and didn't look very appetizing. When I asked for a refill for water, we never got it. Unfortunately, the entire experience was mediocre.
The food was great, the service was perfect. Sania was the perfect host.
Highly Recommend!! Delicious Food!!
Outstanding Atmosphere we will definitely go back.
We had a wonderful buffet dinner on a Friday night. Only complaint would be that we had to ask for Naan, and were not offered.
I wanted spicy food, and i told the waitress but she was like it’s going to be too spicy you wont be able to eat it so i told her i just want my food to be spicy she said okay, but the food was sooo blend, my brother got Biryani and when i tasted it it felt like i was eating boiled rice, i got qorma which was okay it had taste but the fish pakoras also tasted very very blend
I have had really good food there before but this was the first time i went with my family and i was not satisfied
Buffets are always a concern to us because the food quality can be from good to really bad.
Rest easy, Hawali is on the really good side with great quality, flavours and variety.
They also do fresh cooked Naan which was up there with the best we have had.
It is a big restaurant but can be very private or good for groups.
We were impressed by the service staff who made sure everything wasok but were unobtrusive.
We enjoyed the decor and quiet ambience
The whole place was impecably clean and we enjoyed watching the Tandoor in action
Food was excellent especially the buttered chicken and naan bread.
We went for a colleague's birthday. The lunch buffet was fantastic and well priced. The food was delicious and the service was good.
