    Mediocre food and service , scallops very small and over cooked, was really looking forward to the meal and was very disappointed and definitely not value for money, would not return or recommend the other Indian restaurants in Amersham and little Chalfont are much nicer

    As before food is well cooked and presented. Full of flavour without being overwhelming. As I have been to a few of Atul restaurants. I think it is time for Hawkyns to have a make over so that you can be more in tune with the high quality food

    Food was presented well. Starters were excellent. Mains and desert were a little bland. Service felt a little rushed and for the price paid it didn't feel we got good value.

    I’m note sure I’ve ever had better modern Indian food. The location in Amersham is fantastic. Right on the quiet main street. Lined with pubs and cafes. My wife and myself are vegetarian and we just asked our waiter for recommendations. We both went with it and had a fantastic meal. Lots of vegetarian options. I couldn’t pick a stand out dish as I was blown away by everything. Great service too. Lovely cozy atmosphere. Can’t wait until we’re next in the area and we can go again.

    The food at this restaurant was ok but overly priced as was all other items. If I wanted to eat Indian cuisine I would be able to get a good meal for half the price of this restaurant and not have to travel for 30 odd miles to get there. The furniture in the restaurant is very basic and makes one feel like they are eating in a barn.

    Went there for the first time and chose the 5 course tasting menu. The first 3 courses were bite sized portions, 4th had rice, black daal & naan as accompaniments followed by dessert. Having tasted Indian food in a lot of places in UK, I would say the food was very good but not mind blowing. Everything was tastefully presented & looked good. But the wow factor was missing. Service was top notch - attentive but not intrusive. The decor is quite pub-like since the restaurant is housed in a very old hotel but that adds to the charm. Was quite busy for a Wed evening so it seems to be popular!!

    Service was faultless and food was lovely. I’m gluten free and was looked after very well, with my dish being identified at each service. Which always give me confidence and allows me to relax. The only part that let it down for me was the dessert, I was served Ice cream that was frozen solid and covered in frostbite, so sadly inedible. That said, the rest of the party had the cheesecake and said it was amazing. I will definitely be back.

    Food was okay and nicely presented, but very expensive for what it was; there wasn’t much atmosphere; and the service a bit rushed and underwhelming — okay, nothing terrible, but it all just felt a bit tired. There are nicer places to go offering better value nearby.

    Been to many of Atul resturants over the years,and again a great experiance. Excellant staff always make you welcome and look after you as if you were a guest in the own home.Would recrommend to everyone to give his resturants a visit not just for a special occassion.

    We had an excellent night at Hawkyns and we have already recommended to our friends and family and we will be going back, very soon. We had the tasting menu and it was amazing and great value. Each dish came with a description and story. My only regret was not asking if the dessert could be traditional Indian cuisine. Each serving was packed with flavour and well presented The service was fantastic and they really made my birthday special with an extra candle and dessert (in addition to the set menu) The restaurant is in The Crown hotel and it's a lovely place in Old Amersham

    Each time we return to Hawkyns it totally delivers on every front. The tasting menu is delicious. The food is tasty delicate and incredibly creative.. We absolutely love it. Staying at The Crown worked brilliantly. Looking forward to return already!

    We really loved the food and service. Sadly we were sat by the door, which if they had a fire 🔥 burning would have been much better. Overall, it was a great experience. It would also have been more convenient if we were able to add our pre dinner drinks onto our dinner bill.

    Food was very good, great popadoms, crab cakes and chicken curry. Service extremely slow >50 minute wait between starters and main course, we werent asked if we would like another drink and 10 minute wait after asking for the bill. May have been because we were seated in the bar area rather than the main restaurant (we requested the restaurant), so insist on sitting in the main restaurant if you would like service to match the food.

    Whilst staying at The Crown Hotel, we decided to book this restaurant. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable. The restaurant was very clean and service was excellent. We tried a bottle of Indian red wine 🍷 for the 1st time. It was very good. Overall a very enjoyable night 🌙. Xxxxx

    Excellent experience, as always, it puts Indian cuisine on another level. Marinated chicken excellent, as was the salmon. Even lamb satay and naan extremely flavoursome.

    We really enjoyed our evening. We could have done without the stalks and tough skin on the aubergine side dish but otherwise delicious and lovely to be able to identify all the aromatics and spices. It was very pricey but we did order too much, forgetting that the little sides are actually quite big!

    We had the most wonderful evening, celebrating both mine and my husbands birthday. We both had the tasting menu with beef. The food was absolutely amazing, I can’t even write into words how good it was. The black Dahl was to die for. The service was exceptional, you couldn’t ask for a more personal and pleasurable experience. Was a lovely touch that with the tasting menu you also got a signed cook book, which looks appealing to try at home. Was great value for money and we will definitely be and already have recommended to friends and family. We will also be returning soon. Thank you once again

    Lovely setting on the High St in Amersham. Visited on a sunny day and sat outside in the quiet courtyard garden which was perfect. The service was very friendly and the food was excellent. We ordered from the set lunch menu which is a well edited sub set of the a la carte. All dishes were delicious and well presented - high end, as expected. The achari lamb and black dahl were stand outs. Finally, I would say that the set menu is great value for this quality of cooking. Will definitely visit again.
