   We thought the music was just too loud to carry on a conversation. The quantity of food pretty small and when one at out table asked for more sauce (that was in a tiny container), the waiter said there would be an extra charge we said ok, then it never came. The waiter was nice, but very busy. I can’t say I’d recommend. Perhaps drinks in the lobby bar but that’s it.

   As part of the "YYC Experience 2023" menu, we were treated to an excellent meal. And a decent value. I hope Fairmont Palliser continues to participate. Looking around at a number of other diners, the "Experience" menu was popular with them as well. Great food, and a decent value. Thanks Fairmont Palliser!

   Music was too loud, staff turned off the speaker near our table. Piano or instrumental would have been more suitable for the venue. Wine selection was misrepresented… settled on a listed bottle. Food serving staff were inattentive… had first course then served desert. We requested the main course. Don’t plan to return.

   Being a Calgarian for over 45 years...with the Pallier being a family favourite over the years...from Brunch, Afternoon Tea and countless special occasions such as weddings, corporate functions, and Christmas parties. So what a surprise with the Hotel's makeover! Like we stepped into somewhere else fancy! t was a perfect Sunday dinner with friends in front of the fireplace. We're already booked for Easter Brunch!

    I booked our table weeks in advance however we were seated in a space not large enough for 4 people and had to ask for another chair because the bench was very tight. It felt as if our table was part of the lobby area.

    Beautiful venue, very inattentive and unfriendly wait staff. Did not review features with us until we asked her, was not friendly, did not smile, did not ask us how our food was. Seemed she possibly just didn’t want to be there. The Hawthorne room itself was beautiful, it’s a stunning space. The “YYC dines” fixed menu was quite tasteless, but 2 people at our table ordered the prime rib which they said was good. If i returned it would be only for cocktails and ambiance, and I would dine elsewhere.

    We had a pleasant experience, especially for a restaurant bar. The space is lovely, the food was good, the service was attentive and competent, though not able to answer all of our questions regarding food and wine. Overall, we had a positive experience and would return if we were in the area or staying at the hotel again.

    One of my favourite rooms in the city for a special occasion. Lovely ambience with beautiful furnishings, a fireplace and cozy corners for drinks. The live piano was a lovely touch for our dinner. The food was good. The service was not to the standard that I would expect at a Fairmont - no one offered to take our big winter coats, which wasn't pleasant at our small table. Will still return however and would continue to recommend it for a special night out.

    I always enjoy the Hawthorn. It's a lovely place to have a leisurely lunch. However, I am a senior and use valet parking and the cost of the parking has become prohibitive. Therefore, perhaps this was my last visit.

    Our server didn't feel very friendly or welcoming to us. Especially dinner this was our first time dining here. We where not asked if we had any questions about the menu or welcomed to the restaurant. For fine dining I expect a higher quality of service than a fast food chain The Salmon lacked flavor & was served over only a few potatoes & 3 string beans We where not even close to full & we are both size 2 petite We had to get a second meal at another restaurant after to satisfy our hunger. I wouldn't ever eat here again. Maybe it's better for the overpriced drinks

    The food was meh. Beef tartare used to be so good, but this time it was terrible, it says it’s served with brioche but it came with something like a white compliments bread (with the ends removed). Service was great tho!

    Food and service was great. Only criticism I have is that the hostess was going to seat us right beside a table of 25 that was arriving shortly. The restaurant was half full at best. It would have made our dinner unbearable and seemed so unnecessary given the abundance of available seating.

    What a pleasant surprise! Everything was absolutely perfect. A brunch for a good friend’s birthday and Kendra, (our sweet server), surprised us with a sparking candle in a chocolate mousse cake. Renovations to area were beautiful, wallpaper in bathroom was spectacular. This raises the bar …. Thank you

    As always, our dining experience at Hawthorn was outstanding. Online reservations were easy to make, with plenty of availability on an early Friday evening. The hostess and servers all seemed to genuinely enjoy their work. We were thrilled to have Peter, whose droll summaries of the dining options reflected exactly what he thought. It was also much appreciated to have access to the bar menu in the dining room. The only difference from previous visits was the volume of the music. We prefer fine dining establishments to have little or no music; there seemed to be little difference between the volume in the lobby bar and the actual dining room.
