The dining experience was excellent. Our waiter was really friendly and warm! We took the date night package and the chicken was delicious. The ribs although extremely soft, needed more seasoning or flavor. Everything else was great!

Everything can be better. At least for weekend breakfast. The server did not come for like 20 mins to ask for beverages. She took another 30 to ask what we want to eat for breakfast. The ambience was very noisy, the hashbrowns/potatoes served for breAkfast tasted like it was made in expired oil. Had a pungent smell to it. I had to run to the washroom halfway through my breakfast lol it was that bad. Would never recommend or come back again.

We have been to many fine restaurants and for quality and consistency, this place is top notch!! People seem to go to Caesar's when they want a good steak - frankly, I will never eat at Caesar's again after having beef here! Unbelievable! What a special way to celebrate our 27th anniversary and we will most definitely be back! Excellent value and impeccable service!

We did the Alberta fest set menu; none of the food was seasoned! The cherries and duck dish was good and the donut (to share) dessert was tasty at least. Good wine list, neither of us liked our cocktails though, not enough flavor to balance the alcohol. Meh!

Had the Alberta on the plate, and it was amazing. Our server was very attentive and made sure that an allergy in the party was taken care of. Drinks are pricey, but in the end it was a perfect night out.

Wanted front table to see singer, seat was wet. However, someone took it 30 minutes later. It should have been offered first to us when ready as we arrived first. Ordered drinks, no napkins. The burrata was a little dry. The singer/piano sound was terrible: piano louder than the charming singer, her voice sound was way too metallic. However, the place was nice and food was good. Thanks.

Don’t get the Duck, the side is a cheap can of beans. And if that’s wild boar sausage I recommend changing suppliers. Guess coming from the country, having ate a lot of duck/wild boar was expecting more from high end restaurant. Wasn’t impressed after hearing such good things about this place. Wife said her steak was good though.

The ambience is quiet, elegant, and handsome. The booth seats are comfortable and private. My husband’s beef tenderloin was delicious, and I ordered a combination of three yummy and perfectly prepared vegetarian side dishes. The table service was flawless, and our server recommended a specialty gimlet cocktail that I loved. We finished with a champagne soaked poached pear dessert that was light but richly flavored - divine. It’s a pity we don’t live in Calgary. If we did, this would be our favorite restaurant.

We had a very pleasant evening at this restaurant. We took advantage of the “Date night” offer on Tuesday nights. The limited menu for this offer has 3 options. The food was excellent and the service was friendly (appropriately attentive). The wine selection for this meal was also very limited and not to our taste. There didn’t seem to be the option to upgrade. It’s a comfortable ambiance, more like a fancy hotel casual restaurant, but the regular prices are 5 star. We’ll probably go again on a special occasion that warrants the higher price.

The Hawthorn Dining Room is lovely but the food...not so much! It was hard to get our server's attention since there were a lot of people in the bar/entertainment area and I assume the staff was responsible for both the dining room and bar area. The staff was pleasant and helpful when we did get their attention. I ordered the short rib dinner and it was not hot when it came to the table. I did not complain about it but the meat was a little dry so when I finally got the attention of a server..(it took a few minutes so my meal was getting colder!!) I asked if I could have a little more sauce for the meat. After another few minutes she came back with a small cup of sauce and after I poured some on my short rib, I realized it was BBQ sauce so the dish was ruined! My husband at this point had already finished his dinner and I was still waiting on a server to tell them what happened. The final result was a new short rib dinner....a little late....but it was good when it finally arrived.

The food was great, drinks were fantastic! Our main feedback is that our server was quite rude when it came time to split our bills between the group. Possibly due to the fact that we were a younger party of diners. Our group was full of people who work in the service industry meaning we are generally pretty easy guests due to the fact that we know how stressful working in a restaurant can be. The drinks and food were great so we still left a generous tip but our server would have had the opportunity to make more off of our table if she hadn’t made in accurate assumptions about the fruitfulness of our bill due to our age.

Long story short, both my dining partner and I sent back our steaks (ordered medium-rare) as they were overcooked. My tenderloin arrived medium-rare the second time, but unfortunately my dining partner's strip loin arrived overdone a second time (medium). Overcooking beef steaks in Calgary, particularly at a restaurant of this caliber, is inexcusable, but overcooking steak twice is shameful. Service was lukewarm, we needed to flag down wait staff to re-order drinks and alert them of the problems with the steak. The manager took care of the main courses, but it made our special occasion dinner (my daughter's birthday) less enjoyable than we had hoped. I won't be rushing back as there are many other fine dining options available.

I have never been so keen to write a review. My son and i had dinner last night after Glenbow soiree. Unfortunately, we had had a wee car accident en route downtown. Upon arriving at Hawthorn, the hostess remembered me so this already made me feel special. The Date Night Dinner was such a great promotion. When will it be offered again. Our waitress Teresa could not have been more helpful, attentives and friendly. What started out on a bad note was made better by the warm welcome and food we enjoyed. The manager? introduced himself to us before we left. I could not recommend Hawthorn anymore. I like a quiet place to have dinner as I am hard of hearing so appreciate the music being low.

It's been a few years since we've been here, will know for next time to ask for the dining room proper, was a bit noisy in the lobby bar area, however, the service was great, food was good, though pricey (but these are the times), and it was so nice to go somewhere you can dress up a bit and have a nice lunch.

We were celebrating a special occasion which was noted in our reservation. This was not acknowledged at check-in and we were seated close to a large party. The food was good, but the service was weak. We considered other dining choices in downtown Yyc which we know are excellent, but decided to dine here. It was a disappointment.
