    The experience at Sur Barra Nikkei was incredible. Richard guided our experience being very attentive and VERY knowledgeable on what to recommend. We had the Disfrutar experience, which was 5 courses to share for 2 people and every dish was spectacular. Our favorites were the shrimp nigiri and their version of lomo saltado. Amazing, can’t wait to go back.

    I can’t say enough good things about my dining experience at SUR Barra Nikkei. Though I consider myself a foodie I have never had the opportunity to try this style of food so I was very pleased when I was informed I could do a (very affordable) tasting menu and not have to make any decisions! Every dish was excellent and, in my opinion, for 5 courses the portions were quite large. I couldn’t finish anything, though I wanted to. Everyone was kind and informative about the food. I sat at the bar as a solo diner which was fun to watch the bartenders at work! The cocktails looked amazing! I will definitely return.

    Flavorful combinations and good variety on the menu. The waiter was extremely helpful in explaining all the details around each dish. Quality ingredients used. Portions are rather small for the price.

    This restaurant offers the opportunity to try unique dishes not usually found in local restaurants, in a very casual and relaxed ambiance. The staff is very friendly and all of them were knowledgeable and able to explain in detail the ingredients of the dishes offered in the menu. We were not rushed and once we were ready to order the dishes we were sharing came in at reasonable intervals. Even the bartender approached our table to make sure one of the cocktails we had ordered was made according to our preference. Overall great service. The 3 items we ordered were interesting in flavor and texture, being our favorite “Paseo por el Amazona, which we highly recommend. Will definitely return and try other offers on the interesting menu.

    This restaurant took me by surprise with its outstanding food, drinks and service. I let the kitchen put together a 5 course meal for me and it was absolutely superb. Fresh, delicious, creative flavor combinations. I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a different kind of flavor experience while in the San Juan area.

    Great combination of Peruvian cuisine and Asian flavors ...presentation with a lot of good taste. Great service particularly at the bar . It is a quaint and small place but with plentiful creativity and great plates.

    We love Sur Barra Nikkei! We have visited many times and the experience, food and service is always consistently on point. Everyone from the elegant servers who present every ingredient on your plate to the friendly main bartender that always stops by to say hello; they always provide top service. The food is delicate, full of umami and refreshingly unique compared to other local offerings. Not to mention, their house dessert with the aioli ice creams is incredible. We joke that Barra Sur feels like we flew into NYC to dine at a top restaurant for the night. Excellent work!

    Great experience. We tried multiple dishes, most of them tapas style, and all where fantastic. Complex flavors on al of them. Service was also amazing. Definitely will return.

    We enjoyed the whole experience. Our server was exceptional and her recommendations were right on point. All servers that brought plates to us were also very knowledgeable of ingredients and flavors of the food to be served and that helped choose and enjoy better our dinner. Ambiance was good and drinks very distinct, flavorful and pleasant. Do take into consideration portions are not very large but the specialty of flavors is worth the experience.

    Wow this is probably the BEST Peruvian food in North America and I’ve tried a lot in Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles. This was by far the best! I’ve been to Lima, Cusco and Matchu Pitchu. This reminded me of my trip to Peru but was a modern take on the traditional dishes. So fresh, so delightful and our waiter was so enthusiastic about the food. Drinks were amazing I had the Mr Martinez and my wife the Espiritu Libre. Honestly this place needs a Mitchelin Star and it’s on its way. Definitely can’t wait to go back one day.

    Great food, service was ok. Server was polite but always in rush, we definitely would’ve had more drinks if the service was a little more attentive. We got there around 9 so they were paying more attention to closing duties instead of service. Food was amazing, ambiance was great. Just need a little more love to guests and attention to details.

    The food was amazing, the combination of taste and texture adds to the experience. Freshness and creativity impressed us in every plate we ordered. I had the Espiritu Libre cocktail that has now become my favorite. We tried a little bit of everything, tiradito, ceviche, nigiri and a duck hot plate. I would go back, any day!
