   We arrived early. They told us to wait for another 10 minutes, then they closed the main door. It was cold outside so my family killed time by walking in downtown Davis. We have been to other Japanese fine dining experience. Usually, they let the patrons/customer come inside, get them settled & offer drinks while waiting. When you celebrate a special occasion like birthdays. You usually get a special shout out or a Happy Birthday writing on the dessert. We try to support businesses in Davis esp family owned. The chef owner explained each dish, it was educational. All the seafood esp the fish were fresh and of high quality. Loved the wagyu and tuna. It was delicious. Service was great. Overall, we had a great Omakase experience for a family of 4 ( 2 teenagers ).

   First time experiencing Omakase and it did not disappoint. Delicious food and knowing about each course was neat. The place is very hip and intimate and you get a show of the chefs in action. Folks who love sushi should definitely experience this place.

   Amazing Omakase experience! We’ve also been in for Hikari a couple of times. The sushi (all of the food, really) is of exceptional quality. Service is on par with the best restaurants we’ve been to. This little gem is great to have closer to home compared to places like San Francisco, Napa, or Sacramento. (We live in Winters.) I highly recommend it though, for selfish reasons, don’t want it to get too popular and then have difficulty getting in myself! Seriously though, the best sushi around!

   HiKari was amazing. I am so excited that we finally have such an awesome high end restaurant in Davis. The sushi was delicious and varied. Each bite was special as well as beautiful. They have created a warm comfortable serene setting in their tiny space. The service was attentive, thoughtful and informative. I have been to some high end Japanese restaurants in Sacramento and San Francisco and HiKari was the best. We hope to make this our New Year’s Eve tradition.

   An intimate, elegant and artistic dining experience in Davis. The food is outstanding...MICHELIN star quality. The personal touch placed on each of their Omakase entrees was a tasting experience in itself. We enjoyed tasting a wide variety of seafood, beef and vegetables. If you love The Kitchen in Sacramento-Hikari is a must. Can't wait to go back!

    The Omakase featured the most authentic sushi I have had outside of Japan. Beautifully prepared and presented. A pleasure to watch the team in action. The chef also explained the various courses and the unique features of the ingredients. The sake selection is excellent. We should not have had even the light lunch that day though. We will be back.

    A true gem in Davis! The 16-course omakase meal was of incredible quality, from the edamame to the trio of bluefin tuna. The food was beautifully presented, the pace was not rushed and the service was warm and welcoming.

    Exceptional! Not just a meal, it was an experience. You can taste the difference in the high quality ingredients. Every single bite leaves you wanting more! We appreciated the care the chefs took in preparing every delectable course. The staff was amazing. We can’t wait to return for another amazing experience.

    Very solid omakase. Service was slow, and there are many opportunities to be more efficient in prep. Additionally, too much blow torch use. Chef did a great job engaging with the patrons and explaining the story behind each dish.

    The Omakase experience was amazing! Best dinner I've ever had. Every dish was complex in flavor and in detail. At this time it is $125 per person, and it's worth it. Every dollar. Imagine that everything you eat is meticulously crafted, and on purpose. It is a party in your mouth, like all the time, with everything they serve you. The food they serve you will burn a memory in your tongue, stomach, and brain. If you like sushi or Japanese food you will be doing yourself a dishonor for not trying this.

    This is our second time at this Omakase event, and our assessment remains the same - this is probably the best dining experience you can have in Davis. We had a wonderful time and the time just flies by. All courses are great, and love the explanation and background behind each dish.

    Went for special price fixe dinner. Amazing service. Dishes were interesting and some were special. However, each serving was not excellent and the last course with the Kobe beef was too raw. I think the idea is very good but it’s not worth the money.

    The omakase experience was exquisite. The fish was the freshest I've ever tasted, the combinations of tastes and textures beautiful, the presentation gorgeous. It was a lot of fun to watch the chef and assistants prepare the food and wait staff were very professional. One suggestion: a list of the night's menu (could be printed, projected on the screen above the counter, on a whiteboard). It was sometimes hard to hear the chef as he announced each new course and also hard to remember all the components of each item as we were eating. A fantastic meal, well worth the price. We will be back, with friends, to share this incredible experience.

    Went for the omakase, which was excellent. This quality and variety of dishes is usually reserved for much more expensive Bay Area omakase restaurants. The business is also family owned. The husband and wife who run it were both very hospitable and made the experience very enjoyable. We will definitely be back.

    Went for my fiancé and my birthdays and had the best nigiri we’ve ever had! Also had some new things like uni and Wagyu beef. Excellent chef and supporting staff!

    Spectacular prix fixe meal with exquisite presentations centered around pristine seafood. Lovely stylish setting, dish- and glassware, friendly but unobtrusive service, watching the dishes come together watching was poetry in motion. Surprising combinations -- uni and lobster and custard -- gold leaf and truffles and caviar -- ponzu and tuna -- a delightful evening through and through.

    A true omakase experience like none other! The chefs serve food with such passion, finesse and detail. Every dish is unique and takes you along a journey through the ocean. We loved our meal and will be back again to try the normal menu hours next. Hikari came out swinging and will only get even better as they settle into their beautiful restaurant. Thank you!
