Hochi Mama was the God Mother of all aspiring street artists and rappers in the early nineties. An immigrant in the big city, she hosted underground art shows along with rap battles for the rejects; a place where you could just be at home, but with family. The whole crew was always welcome, the more the merrier, and she was well renowned for creating innovative dishes using the original famous dishes from her home country, and plenty of booze, in her spacious and homey warehouse.

This cheeky, vibrant and buzzing Vietnamese Fusion venue is one for your to-do list. Boasting a killer menu and a super cool vibe, this place is known for a cocktail, feast or an intimate date night.

    You pay top prices to eat here but have to sit on an uncomfortable backless stool. Pork belly was so tough. Not a great meal

    Best sashimi I have ever had! The kingfish was superb. Other dishes were very good but noise level was much too loud.

    Everything was perfect: the customer service, the atmosphere, the food and the proximity to the Princess Theatre where we were heading afterwards for the Tina Turner musical. It is also very close to Her Majesty’s Theatre and the Comedy Theatre. We opted for the Pre Theatre menu between four of us at $49pp. Wow! It was such great value. Every dish was absolutely delicious and we all left full and happy. I should also mention that drinks were reasonably priced, with a good variety of cocktails etc available. We’ve already spread the word to family and friends that Hochi Mama is a must when coming to Melbourne for a show at one of the above mentioned theatres. I am so looking forward to my next visit to Hochi Mama - I don’t even think I’ll wait for a show to be on!

    Loved our first visit to Hochi Mama the food was amazing loved it and the restaurant had a great vibe will be back. Great service our waitress waa fabulous.
