Hochi Mama was the God Mother of all aspiring street artists and rappers in the early nineties. An immigrant in the big city, she hosted underground art shows along with rap battles for the rejects; a place where you could just be at home, but with family. The whole crew was always welcome, the more the merrier, and she was well renowned for creating innovative dishes using the original famous dishes from her home country, and plenty of booze, in her spacious and homey warehouse.

    Arrived late due to PTV issues so called up and staff were super nice and accommodating! It was hard to call for a server because they were dashing everywhere, but had an amazing, kind and energetic girl take our order, she asked for spice level which I think was really good because I cannot cope with spice AT ALL!! The Food came out fast but was kind of dumped on the table because the servers were so busy! But the food was really tasty and I kept wanting more! Which I think is a good sign. I had a cocktail called lycheezy it was yummy to begin with but got sickly too sweet and I couldn’t finish it. On the other hand my mum had a Prosecco and loved it and kept getting more! Because we came late we did feel a little rushed because of the table being needed later on, but I am not putting that in the staff because it was our fault! Myself and my mum ordered just a few small dishes to share and I highly recommend the prawn fried dumplings (got another plate because it was that good!), prawn betel leaves and the Vietnamese slaw!! They were phenomenal!!!! We also got the scallops which I loved! But mum thought the sauce overpowered the scallop and also the hochi chicken bao this was probably our least favourite, it tasted great but was a little too spicy for me and mum didn’t like it at all amd didn’t finish it because it was a bit too heavy and thought it was a little basic which I agree but still tasted great! Mum thought the atmosphere was a little loud for her and wouldn’t suggest having a large group get together because you wouldn’t here anyone, but the volume was energetic and lively which is a good sign of a busy and successful business where people are enjoying themselves!!! Overall highly recommend!

    Great delicious tasting food, great atmosphere and price is very reasonable for the quality. Only suggestion would be to add more seasoning to the Salt n Pepper fried tofu dish as it was quite bland. Other dishes we had were delicious.

    Food was great although service was terrible. Our waiter was great although the lady that greeted us at the door was extremely rude. Also we asked a different waiter for a fork, as our waiter was not around and she was very rude as well. A shame.

    The waitress on table 2 who served us that night was very rude and looked frustrated every time we had any requests. Don't want someone to take orders who looks so uninterested and poor customer service skill.

    Outdoor sounds nice. Till you learn sit on little stool near ground, no heaters in 17 degrees and no service once order taken. Oh and you get the luxury of paying the same price as everyone inside. And $34 for 1, yes one little beef rib. They get value out of a cow. Customers get the hide.

    Outside seating isn’t as comfortable as inside but the food and service easily made up for this. We had the vegan duck crisps and were blown away! Amazing food! Couldn’t recommend more highly

    Sandy was lovely (our waitress) and checked in when appropriate. We had perfect weather, to sit outside, ambiance was great, food was yum and really amazing value. We ate and drank for $120!

    The food was delicious and the service was great. Inside the restaurant was quite dark and sitting close to the pink neon lights I found it difficult to read the menu and see my meal properly

    Enjoyed our night at Hochi Mama. The main attraction to dining here was the gluten free menu and fryer, however after ordering I was informed that their gluten free fryer had broken. After amending my order I managed to enjoy the some delicious food. Very good flavours and a nice spice level. The cocktails were delicious. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and informative. Would have liked to be able to try their gluten free dumplings I was so keenly looking forward to, I will make sure to call before dining again to check the gluten free fryer is working.

    The evening we had big change in plans so had few conversations with the staff members and they wer enot pleasant.Saying that it annoyed me and spoiled the modd for the day. Later Chris was trying to help me but I was out of thta frame of mine. He did call me today I have given all details on what went wrong
