Holts Café - Vancouver Ratings and Reviews
Had lunch. Beautiful cafe, the decor & ambience is lovely & the service was efficient & friendly. The food was good but for the amount you pay for a dish, extremely small portions for a $20 salad & an $18 omelet ( which looked like they only used one egg to make it)!?
Thank you so much to Holts cafe for making my friends birthday so memorable!!!
The food service from the kitchen was extremely slow but our waitress was a gem! The food tasted good.
The two popular dishes recommended by the shop assistant are really delicious, the environment is really great and the service attitude is good, but the dessert is really not good, and the other aspects are satisfactory
Red served warm, a 10 dollar bottle cost 50. Unfortunately sent it back.
The salmon and duck dishes were excellent. Service excellent.
The room, the service and the food were great. The construction drilling noise was not good and very disruptive...
Food was good! Although the service was awful, very amateur and slow; no kids options at all
The service and food were great, however, I had previously made a reservation and should have been informed that there was limited seating due to a private function. We were a party of 2 sitting at a table for 6. Also, we were not checked in; even after I mentioned that I had a reservation, so I received an e-mail explaining that not showing up was inappropriate.
Other than that, things were good. We would go back because of convenience.
Should really have more staffing; and some items on the menu is unavailable
Tried the high tea set, very good value with excellent tasting food!
The service staff was excellent. Our server Karyn was engaging but not intrusive, and the chef even made a quick visit to the floor. The food was outstanding.. we were there for brunch and my fiancée and I shared the Dungeness Crab w Poached Eggs and the Little Dutch Boy (lovely pancake-esque dish)... both dishes were outstanding.
We will definitely be back again!
first timers!! really enjoyed the food, the service was great, host was ontop of things, ambiance was nice
Beautiful interior design
Nice break during your shopping
We didn't expect that the restaurant would not take the Open Table cheque. If we had known, we would have gone to somewhere else that would take the Open Table cheque. We have used the Open Table cheques at many other places. This is the first time that a restaurant refused to accept the cheque. Quite disappointing.
The servers/waitresses were knowledgeable about the menu items and what they didn't know they were more then willing to go and ask the kitchen. I was able to substitute the puffed rice in the Albacore Tuna Poke dish for spring mix salad instead. The food was fresh and well seasoned. The menu also looked well balanced and creative with culinary flair. Overall my guest and I had a very nice business lunch. I look forward to dining there again soon.
I would recommend Holts Café to friend but not for the food, more for a place to meet and talk as the noise level was not loud. My business lunch partner and I each ordered the Warm Duck Salad, I found it very disappointing and my lunch partner's comment was "wasn't what he expected". The salad came plated on a fairly large plate however my baby iceberg lettuce, which seemed like it was cut off part of the whole head and not separated or tossed in any way sat on the bottom of the plate piled with macedonian feta, jolly rancher apples, shaved radish (if you could find them) as they were likely heavily dressed in the honey cumin vinaigrette. The duck was also overally dressed and all I could taste was cumin all afternoon well after my lunch. Definitely not something I will have again. I may try Holts Café again just to give it the benefit of the doubt.
Quiet Sunday afternoon tea experience. Wasn't particularly busy (maybe 1/3 full) but service was a bit scattered. Water cups were filled up halfway to begin with, and never topped up again (despite asking many times). Server was friendly but forgetful. Food was very tasty, and beautifully presented.
Asparagus salad was to die for. Surprisingly great burger
The food is really good!
Duck salad contained 'traces' of duck. Very disappointing lunch. Never again.
My friend and I met there for lunch on a tight schedule. The hostress and waitress were very professional and polite. Our food came out very quickly. I had the wild salmon and she had the duck salad without egg. Presentation and taste were both very good. I felt as though my portion was a little small and would have enjoyed with more food. When I asked for bread I was informed there were no rolls only hamburger buns. However, the waitress brought out complimentary macaroons which was a nice touch! My tea was excellent and I think my friend enjoyed her cocktail.
The food was simply amazing and creative/different. Our server was fun and informative. The ambience was very relaxing and nice for lunch.
Ate here before a performance at the QE. Food was good, but not outstanding. Had the roast chicken, quite nice. My problem is that prices are very high for the quality of food. $75 for 2 cocktails, main course, mushroom toast appetizer. The appetizer was very good, main just good. Cocktails were outstanding but expensive. I had 2 at $16 each. Maddenly, the waiter took away my cocktail glass both times before I had finished. I was engrossed in conversation and didn't see him remove them. At that price you want every drop. I would only recommend this restaurant for a snack (and a cocktail!) post shopping. It is not really a destination restaurant. I liked the Nordstrom restaurant better.
First time here, for lunch. the food was pretty impressive! the service was outstanding! would definitely return to try other dishes.
Good place to go for a lunch/brunch while weekend shopping with friends.
Long weekend Sunday lunch. The warm duck salad is delicious. I also really like the brunch menu, before 2pm. Must try desserts : coconut pudding with tapioca.
Service could be better. Menu could be a little more clear with which items are vegetarian. The teas are delicious. Had the oolong cream and peaches and cream. Can't wait to go back for the peaches and cream again!
Unfortunately I thought food was sub standard. Actually awful. We both had salads with salmon and the salad was old and the salmon had no taste. The only good thing was the service.
Enjoyed the food. Noise level was not irritating. Wait staff very attentive. Decor relaxing and inviting. Would recommend reservations though because it got very busy...
Nice restaurant, will come back!
We were there for a business lunch and let the server know we only had one hour. We had to pay the bill before we received our food. They need to pick up the pace for people looking for a quick business lunch.
Good service except , short of selection of foods , many items on the menu are not available
A lovely room and decor. Interesting menu. The fried potatoes with the eggs Benedict were amazing. Duck confit salad a delicious and lighter option.
Thought I would give Holts Café a 2nd chance after a pretty bad 1st experience (food took 45 minutes to arrive and was cold/not cooked properly). This time. the server was excellent and the food arrived quickly, piping hot!
Not too many choices but overall a nice restaurant.
Went for lunch and the food order took awhile for it to come out.
The duck salad was a salty for my taste.
I have been here numerous times, I love this place , wish I can have an hour lunch instead of 1.5 due to the food.
Nice experience as always!
Nice ambiance. Service very friendly and personable. One small point is that there was a Server who was poorly presented. Unkempt looking, which really should't be the case in what's considered a higher end restaurant associated with a luxury retailer.
We weren't rushed, but the pace was comfortably steady. Food was excellent. Nicely plated with fresh ingredients. There were lots of options on the menu, so anyone's palate should be easily accommodated. Prices are very high. I think this would be the only consideration I recommend the restaurant reviews. I don't mind paying for quality, but $16 for an appetizer that was 3 small oysters is a bit steep. Soup is $12. I left hungry.
Every dish was excellent.
Late lunch in between Boxing Day shopping. Food was good - had the Wagyu burger with parmesan cheese and chive fries. The fries were a bit too brown/burnt for my liking and the parmesan was clumped with the chives near the bottom so the top fries had no cheese and chives. Also the salmon entree was good. Not large portions. Looks like 95% of the people in the cafe were eating there for free on their Holts Icon VIP member benefits.
