Honky Tonk is family-run and located in the Pilsen neighborhood just a couple miles southwest of the Loop in downtown Chicago.

We serve our meats in the traditional Memphis-style--dry rub, roasted with wood and charcoal and the sauce always on the side. Our dry rub is the perfect combination of salty and sweet, pepper and spice. Three house-made sauces are served for your enjoyment: Chicago Sweet, Memphis Tangy, and Carolina Mustard-Butter-Garlic.

Prime Brisket and Premium Pork are roasted for 14 hours over a wood burning fire pit. Slow and low makes for perfect tenderness and a tasty smoky combination. St. Louis Spare Ribs and Baby Back Ribs are likewise slow-smoked for 6 hours until they are just right juicy and tender.

Sides are zesty and full flavored, the perfect compliment to the meats! And remember, all our sides are vegetarian or vegan. Even our two red BBQ sauces are gluten-free! Regardless what kind of diner you are, everything we serve is healthy!

Great food A bit pricey Service was ok but not fabulous Went at beginning of rush on a Saturday night BBQ and beans are the very best ! Definitely give this place a try !

I wish our service would have been better. It took forever for our food to come out of the kitchen and we were pretty late getting in to the show at Thalia Hall. Excellent food! Barbecue ribs are delish. Great live music and it’s a little noisy but that’s what makes it so fun.

Really real brisket and the Sunday night band to match. I went for the music and discovered awesome barbecue! Prices are good for the area. The Chicago Cellar Boys are the best! Listen to authentic early Jazz without the scratching!

I had the brisket it was basically all grizzle and had zero flavor. We went because it was on Diners Drive Ins and Dives. The restaurant has clearly been bought out and has a different owner since the show aired. Save your money time and palate and go somewhere else. There is nothing Honky Tonk about this BBQ

The food we mediocre to bad. Our rib tips were very tough, and the mac and cheese had a very strange taste due to the choices of cheese used. This place was not worth the money.

Our service was great, our waitress was friendly and attentive. Our bacon appetizer came out quickly and was delicious. However our entrees took over 40 minutes to arrive with no warning about the potential wait time. The old fashion was good. The coleslaw appears to be an after thought, we couldn't detect any dressing or seasoning. The bourbon cake was nice but we probably wouldn't get it again. Maybe take out is the way to go here because the ribs were delicious. If you're in the area it's worth checking out if you have the time.

Really Bad service had to seat ourselves. I was given water then we waited for 20 minutes. Had to go get the server ourselves order drinks those to at least 15 minutes and the restaurant was fairly empty.

This is the perfect spot to grab dinner before a show at Thalia Hall. Our group grew from 6 to 12 and they were able to accommodate us. The food really was delicious and the waite staff was very friendly.

What a great find! Best brisket I've ever had! And the fried pickles are so delish. Went with a few friends after an art opening in Pilsen. Left right as live music was starting, but will definitely come back for dinner and music.

Just not a good experience over all, the reason why we were unhappy were a few things. 1. We made a reservation for 8 and got a table for 6, so 2 our friends had to leave. The bigger table (for 8-10 ppl) was giving to a couple. 2. We were there for like 2 hours and only interacted with the waitress like 5 - 6 times. 3. We seated with dirty plates and empty drinks for a while, I mean a while. The food runner was more attentive than other staff. 4. Bottom line, go for the music and the candied bacon, Diet Coke also was great.
