Opened on December 13, 2014 (yes, 12/13/14!) in a historic building at the corner of Woodward and Canfield. The Huma Room on the second floor features half of a black 1973 Cadillac Fleetwood mounted behind the wall and an outdoor patio. Located on Woodward Ave, it's easy to jump on the QLine or walk down to Little Caesars Arena, Comerica Park, or Ford Field.

HopCat was founded on the principles of bringing local craft beer a bit closer to the communities we love. We were a party of eight and were seating right on time. Both the beer and food menu were varied with lots of great choices. It will be one of our go to spots going downtown.

It was wonderful that they got us all in together immediately. The greeters were wonderful. However our waitress. Wow very nice. Didn’t bring us enough napkins and absolutely no sideplates. We also had to follow up every time we needed some thing. The food was OK. Not great. Except for the fries they be banging

We had reservations and were sat down right away, despite the restaurant being busy. That was the only good thing the entire meal. We sat for a long time before we even saw anyone. When they finally arrived at our table we let them know we had a show we were going to, so we were on a time limit. It was almost 40 minutes before we got our drinks. Our food took well over an hour. There were many other tables who arrived after us who finished their meals before we even received our food. When our food finally came out my mac and cheese was cold and crusty while my fries were burning hot. Instead of bringing out what they could so we could get started (knowing we were on a time limit), they held everything so most of the food we had was cold. They acknowledged something happened with our order and offered a nonchalant apology. They didn't care. We received our bill, with full charges, paid as fast as we could and raced out. Although we were on a time limit, we would have had plenty of time to eat if we were served in a normal time frame, even on a busy night. The lack of effort or caring, for that matter, on the part of the staff was the most frustrating thing. I couldn't believe they charged us full price for everything, knowing how many issues we had with our meal and service. They made no effort to make things right in any way. We drove an hour to eat and go to a show and were very excited to eat at HopCat, as we have gone to the one in Grand Rapids and enjoy it. The experience at this HopCat was more than disappointing and we won't be back. I highly recommend checking out many of the other wonderful restaurants in the Detroit area over this one.

Weird experience. Service was great but the burners fan had a problem during an inspection so they couldn't cook any food. We were in a restaurant that coukdnt serve food. We had family that had traveled a couple of hours to meet us for a birthday lunch before we left Detroit. We had to just visit & have drinks bc they couldn't serve food. Very odd situation. The staff was really nice & great with drinks but the experience made for an awkward situation since we couldn't feed our family. Luckily mom brought a cake so we ate that.

The music was too loud and the food is awful now. My fish was burnt. The fries were stale. My friend picked all the crust off her fish and my other friend didn't like her chicken egg rolls. It was completely not worth the money.

This was the perfect, pre-concert option. Service was fast and food was good pub fare. It is a nice, easy stop for the Q-line and easily walkable to Little Caesars Arena.

We were seated right away up on the patio. Could use a little attention to decor. Service was great, came over right away and checked with us regularly. Food was excellent. I had the chicken tacos. Possibly a little Mexican rice with it? Really enjoyed myself.

Slightly disappointed with the service- a little slow, drinks that were ordered were forgotten. Items off the menu- Nashville Chicken Sandwich just ok nothing special. Would return but maybe not right away. Have dined here in the past and enjoyed.

I made a reservation for 6 and was able to be seated before my reservation time, that's great preparation. Our server was friendly, accomodating, made great recommendations for the people that were first timers and accurately recorded our order. When a mistake was made on an appetizer, our server immediately apologized for the inconvenience and rectified the situation. The food was delivered timely, it was fresh and absolutely delicious. Definitely will visit again.
