Hy's is always pretty good but this latest visit the steaks were the best ever. Really a cut above usual.

Over rated steakhouse, the 16 oz one pound lobster is even better than the tiny burnt 20 oz steak. Too expensive, not worth it at all.
We dined at Hys on Sunday. Had a very delicious meal of their famous Cheese toast, Ceasar Salad, Beef Wellington and my husband had the Porterhouse steak which he raved about.
Service was phenomenal, but the atmosphere was quite loud compared to our usual experiences but also understandable due to the holiday weekend.
We recently visited for a family birthday and were very disappointed. Prices were way too high, $50. corkage fee per bottle, food items were very overpriced.
Food was great, went there for the steak and cheese toast. Was not disappointed.

It was great. I ordered a crab cake and steak and lobster, wish the mash potatoes had some more flavour but the food was great overall, I went for my birthday with my girlfriends and was treated a complementary cheese cake, good location for our table, a drink was spilt and they provided a new one no charge. Good steak.
I would recommend it but if they could sit downstairs in the lounge is what we were hoping for too, is a better experience. I will say for the price you pay for a steak compared to the Keg, I see a little more quality at the Keg. I was a bit unimpressed at the Chicago medium I asked for and my steak had black oil all on my plate, haven’t had that before .
Steak was cooked and presented amazingly. Hy’s you are paying for atmosphere. The Keg is just as good.
Calamari appitizer was over cooked or it was reheated not good at all. I’ve had better calamari out of a food truck for half the price. Restaurant ambiance music is always difficult to balance speakers that are roof mounted concentrate noise immediately below the tables where ths speakers hang. Not aweful but it bothered me enough to make a comment. Best to have no music or fade it between different speakers. Service was ok waitress was too fussy about our plate layout while we were eating. she is probably a really good mom.
Food is always amazing! Never ever disappoints. We can’t wait to come back!
Lovely, the food, the cocktails, the atmosphere
It pains me to have to write this. Hy's was my go to steak restaurant in Vancouver. Dennis the manager helped change that.
Lately the last few times I have noticed quality starting to decline. Last week we went a a group of 6. 3 of us chose the 110$ rib steak on the bone. 2 asked for medium rare.. . I ask for slightly more rare than the other 2 steaks.
When the steaks finally made it over mine was medium well while the other 2 were medium. No sweat it happens right? They agreed it was over done and said they would quickly refire.
30 minutes later they bring me a steak. Not on the bone. The steak was separated. They said it was so I would get it quicker. I told them they should have asked but accepted the steak as everyone else was was done their meals. It was fine as far as a boneless rib steak goes.
Waiter takes desert orders and we finish up.
Bill comes. AND NOT 1 DISCOUNT for the trouble. When I mention it waiter takes the bill.
Waiter says Dennis the manager said it wasn't possible to write off the 100$ steak (on a 1200$ bill by the way). He said they would cover a couple deserts.
I didn't want to make a scene so we paid but I did request to speak to Dennis. Dennis apoligized and only when I said I was going to write a review he offered to take care of me next time. Took my info so he would write me an email.
1 week later and have not heard from them.
I'd say avoid this place at this point as the quality control and customer service is not quite what it used to be.
Not for the budget minded, but if you want to know what a fine dining experience is about, this is the place, you'll remember it for a long time.
Hy's is definitely one of the better steakhouses I have tried in Vancouver. The atmosphere inside is alright however, it was a bit loud. I have no complaints about the service though.
Always Perfect! The table service at Hy’s Vancouver is second to none and it keeps me coming back.
Our server was amazing
This restaurant never disappoints me whenever I dine there. I especially like the sophisticated atmosphere and the noise level. They are always comfortable and not loud.
Great lunch spot to spend your Super Bowl pool winnings at! Thanks for a great lunch that featured a tremendous Chateaubriand.

Excellent steaks. Daily lunch specials. Cheese toast and garlic bread are best in the city.

Absolutely amazing meal. Our server Blair was outstanding. The Caesar Salad & Bananas Foster he cooked tableside were incredible.
Very "old-school" room, and decor. Nothing hard-edged or modern about it. It's the type of room you expect to look over and see Donald Draper or Bogart or Sinatra sitting at a corner table. For me personally, it's what a steak house should feel like.
Steaks are 5+, Tableside 5+, Cocktails & Wine Serve 5+, Rest of the food 4, very good, but a little under great.
Expensive as they come, but well worth the experience. Next special occasion in Vancouver, we won't hesitate to return and bring friends.

Fabulous as usual. Love the cesear salad and the cheese toast. I had the steak medallions in a cream brand sauce and it was divine.
My husband and I reserved at Hy's for a romantic dinner for two to celebrate my birthday. Our server was fantastic, very engaging, recommended and paired the food and wine well. The 18-six-18 was a hit! All staff were professional and lovely to interact with. Unfortunately, we were seated at a table situated directly beneath a table at a higher level. The conversation of the other guests traveled to our table making it impossible for us to enjoy our dinner without unintentionally hearing all about the current renovations and all their social activity. We were happy to have our meal arrive quickly but consequently opted to have dessert and after dinner drinks at another restaurant.
The food, wine selection and service were great. I requested Pittsburgh style and rare on one of the steak. They did a great job as it’s rare but instead of just crusting the surface it’d many totally burnt parts which I had to cut off. The meal was delicious and I’d come back for sure.

Food is amazing. Cheese bread, ceaser salad, dry aged steak and Canada foster are crazy! Noise level though, the bar on the upper floor was a bit loud, otherwise pretty awesome.
Party of three. Service was top shelf. Steaks were prefect. Wine recommended for the table was excellent. It’s expensive and I am happy to pay the price for an excellent dining experience. If you want a top shelf classic steakhouse, this is the spot.
A Classic Steakhouse in Vancouver, fantastic quality, classic ambience. Make sure you try the dry aged bone-in steak!

Excellent steak. Great ambience. Good service. Waitress helpful but a little too chatty.
The food was OK but not fabulous, less than what I would have expected for a high end steak house. The cheese bread is famous, but I found it very greasy. The beef wellington was OK, but wasn't visually appealing and tasted just OK. All in all the meal was good but I wouldn't rush back.
Our server, Kim was very nice, and provided professional service.
Our daughter was happy to make Caesar salad with Kim.

Everything about Hy’s was amazing! Our server, Dan was super knowledgeable on the menu and how the different steaks should be ordered. He was super friendly and the food was fantastic! Definitely will be coming back again!
