The food was excellent. Prepared perfectly. Staff was attentive and on point. Ambience was great. The only issue we had was the couple next to us, the guy kept blowing his nose, which was gross, and the wife was really loud. I was tempted to say something to them but I didn't want to upset my wife.

Hy's is a place I have been to many times, and it is consistantly good. I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to dine in a classic Steakhouse even if you only treat yourself there once. Well worth it. Enjoy.

Repeat Hy's customers... never disappointed. Shout out to our charming and attentive server, Monty. He's been requested for another visit in January. And I must mention the lovely Emily who remembered us although it had been almost a year since our last visit. Not only is the food memorable (caesar salad to die for and a big rib steak mmmm) but the staff shines. There's a reason Hy's has been at this location as long as it has.

A little overpriced for appetizers $30 for one crabcake and another $30 for the garlic shrimp. The taste was great but expensive. The Porterhouse was a bit too singed, my 7 year old said "that's burnt" as she spat it out. My wife's New York was more well than medium rare. Atlas did the steaks better. I really miss Morton's.

We ate here for American Thanksgiving... Great location in downtown Vancouver. They have two floors of dining. We sat on the lower floor, right off the bar and close to the charcoal grill... Fantastic experience. I started with the Caesar salad made table side. Perfect amount of garlic... I then ordered the special bone-in New York strip. Two prawns on top with a stilton and port reduction. Fingerling potatoes and French green beans were perfect... For dessert, I had the bananas foster made table side. It was a new experience with the bananas foster... Service was also perfect. Always available and never over-bearing. Our waitperson was genuine and knowledgeable about everything on their menu and the history of the restaurant... I'd go back to Hy's in a heartbeat.

Hy's is exactly what I expected. I ate here somewhat frequently in the 80's, and took my daughter for her 13th birthday. It was excellent for both service and food, the staff truly try to make every meal an experience.

Wife and I were out for my 50th birthday, service was great, food was great. Ambiance is always good. Unfortunately for the first 45 min or so we were seated next to a table of individuals displaying boorish behaviour, soon as they left the rest of us in the area were able to enjoy our experience and company.

Service was good. Food was just okay, oyster Rockefeller was just okay. Beef Wellington lacked flavour, mashed potatoes were cold, banana faster was good. For price wouldn’t go back.

From the minute you walk in the door, it takes you back to the good old days!!! I took my son for his 26th. birthday before catching the hockey game. I felt as if I was my Dad and my son was me 20 years ago. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, when you ask for Pittsburgh medium rare, you get it!!! Our table-side Cesar and banana foster made by our waiter Sebastian was amazing. He had history, stories of the family and how Hy's became what it is today, all while prepping our desert through a six foot flame. If you are looking for a classy nostalgic night out with family you've come to the right place! Two thumbs up Sebastian is A+ Ask for him and he wont disappoint. Marc

The steaks were great! The french fries - ummm not so much! Our designated driver was charged for his non alcoholic beverage - four refills! The dessert was delicious. Tim, the sommelier was super knowledgeable and personable.

Very expensive ! Knowing this you may not wish to come here for fine dining. Food was very good; small portions, all sides are extra cost. Only complaint was the Steak Neptune. Steak was kind of soggy- perhaps sitting too long with the miniscule amount of crab ?? on top. Extensive wine list but nothing in a modest price range. The service was not rushed but the amount of the tip expected is really over the top.

We had an absolutely beautiful experience, it was our first time there, and it was our 15 year anniversary. This restaurant still has that old Vancouver charm with its beautiful carved wood details and brick walls. The service was top tier, and our bellies were full when we left. I am a picky eater, and all the food was to perfection. HIGHLY recommend the restaurant for your choice of steak house.

Good food and service in a great environment. 3x margins on food make sense given all the labour etc. I just cant enjoy myself when markups are over 3x on wine. It really turns me off. 2X wine would make it more consistent with other fine dining options.

we were so glad we were recommended to come to Hys, we are visiting from New Zealand and everything about our experience was outstanding, we would SO love to return, the staff were so obliging, Chad was our server and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food, just beautiful .. steak so tender .. it was a very positive experience ... thank you ! and we would certainly recommend to others.
