Hy's Steakhouse Vancouver
Expert Suggestion: The famous cheese toast is addictive. Try it with an Old Fashioned for a decadent treat.
We can accommodate parties from 12 to 50 guests in our semi private rooms downstairs or our private upstairs.View Private Dining Details
My wife and I enjoyed our dinner at Hy's very much. The service was exemplary. Our choice of food
was excellent, perfectly cooked. We would definitely recommend Hy's to friends. The atmosphere is
Amazing experience. Really enjoyed the table side service and the meal was incredible.
We enjoyed our food although I got a husk (end of the lettuce) in my salad.
Love the cheese bread every time.
Excellent waiter, although I had to pour my wine (2nd glass from the caraff)
Very comfortable room, although I find the hallway from the reception to the dining room very dark. Could be a bit brighter especially for older folks.
We'll be back.
A little disappointed the 60 day aged steak was not available. Other than that it was really good
We have been to Hy's Steakhouse Vancouver a few times now. Each experience has been excellent. The food, drinks, service and ambience are first class each and every time. Great clientele and old school service make it a unique old Vancouver experience.
Being going to HY'S for over 60 yrs, Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful.
Wonderful service and great food. We had a wonderful evening celebrating my husband's 50th birthday.
Steaks were cooked to perfection. Excellent service, super staff. I found the decor to be relaxing. The dining room was quiet, excellent dining experience. I would go back again. My favourite steakhouse now. I heard about this place years ago, Im glad we went. Sorry it took so long to discover.
Amazing quality food. Loved the cheese toast and beef Wellington
It's great presentation, but not a great value even for a high end steakhouse. Good meal but paying over 100 each with no dessert or alcohol.
Fantastic experience, as always at this Hy’s location. The food was absolutely delicious. Excellent service from Dan. In addition to being great, he went above and beyond to accommodate my dairy allergy.
We enjoyed a terrific Valentine’s Day dinner. Delicious cuisine. Filet and lamb perfectly prepared. Service outstanding - thanks Karen! Our first time to Vancouver. We’ll be back to Hy’s and we will highly recommend to family and friends.
It was amazing and our waiter Kaitlyn was absolutely amazing
Great time great food
Lobster soup was way over salty, but otherwise good.
Off season green beans were very over fibrous (and undercooked), half of them felt like plastic. Potatoes slices were undercooked by a few minutes (or maybe the cooking temperature was too low) for 70% of them, a few slices were perfect. Off season tomatoes were bland with tough thick skin. NY strip loin cooked rare was not very tender, that showed they don’t really know how to properly cook steak and/or to pick a properly matured steak. Seasoning was way too salty but spices were good and well balanced. Shrimps were good!
Pistachio crème brûlée was very good, but tasted more almond extract than pistachio, and that’s kind of normal of very old fashioned restaurants... well, that confirmed that Hy’s is an old fashioned restaurant, and will not last if they don’t refresh their cooking techniques. It felt like a very good restaurant but stuck in the 1990s. So, overall, no I do not recommend their food.
Probably a good place if you like how it feels, but not if you’re expecting great cuisine. If your standards are low enough regarding food, you might love it. Cactus club has much better quality cuisine.
We used to love coming to Hy's for dining and came a night early for Valentine's Day. We were served by someone in training who was on the floor for his first day. He was kind and courteous but was clearly anxious. I did not think it was appropriate to have him as our server for dinner and perhaps training at lunch would have been more suitable. The ceasar salad was overdressed and the champagne we ordered overflowed when it was opened. It was just not the experience we were aiming for on a night out where we had arranged a sitter to come enjoy dinner.
The valet insisted the price for valet service was different than what was posted on the signage, which was the topping on the cake after the sub par dinner we had. We would have tipped him the same, but disappointed at the level of service overall that evening. I emailed the restaurant to advise them, but did not even receive an acknowledgment email in response.
We had a wonderful dinner with the beat servi
