A little overpriced for appetizers $30 for one crabcake and another $30 for the garlic shrimp. The taste was great but expensive. The Porterhouse was a bit too singed, my 7 year old said "that's burnt" as she spat it out. My wife's New York was more well than medium rare. Atlas did the steaks better. I really miss Morton's.

Hy's is exactly what I expected. I ate here somewhat frequently in the 80's, and took my daughter for her 13th birthday. It was excellent for both service and food, the staff truly try to make every meal an experience.

Wife and I were out for my 50th birthday, service was great, food was great. Ambiance is always good. Unfortunately for the first 45 min or so we were seated next to a table of individuals displaying boorish behaviour, soon as they left the rest of us in the area were able to enjoy our experience and company.

Service was good. Food was just okay, oyster Rockefeller was just okay. Beef Wellington lacked flavour, mashed potatoes were cold, banana faster was good. For price wouldn’t go back.

From the minute you walk in the door, it takes you back to the good old days!!! I took my son for his 26th. birthday before catching the hockey game. I felt as if I was my Dad and my son was me 20 years ago. Our steaks were cooked to perfection, when you ask for Pittsburgh medium rare, you get it!!! Our table-side Cesar and banana foster made by our waiter Sebastian was amazing. He had history, stories of the family and how Hy's became what it is today, all while prepping our desert through a six foot flame. If you are looking for a classy nostalgic night out with family you've come to the right place! Two thumbs up Sebastian is A+ Ask for him and he wont disappoint. Marc

The steaks were great! The french fries - ummm not so much! Our designated driver was charged for his non alcoholic beverage - four refills! The dessert was delicious. Tim, the sommelier was super knowledgeable and personable.

Very expensive ! Knowing this you may not wish to come here for fine dining. Food was very good; small portions, all sides are extra cost. Only complaint was the Steak Neptune. Steak was kind of soggy- perhaps sitting too long with the miniscule amount of crab ?? on top. Extensive wine list but nothing in a modest price range. The service was not rushed but the amount of the tip expected is really over the top.

We had an absolutely beautiful experience, it was our first time there, and it was our 15 year anniversary. This restaurant still has that old Vancouver charm with its beautiful carved wood details and brick walls. The service was top tier, and our bellies were full when we left. I am a picky eater, and all the food was to perfection. HIGHLY recommend the restaurant for your choice of steak house.

Good food and service in a great environment. 3x margins on food make sense given all the labour etc. I just cant enjoy myself when markups are over 3x on wine. It really turns me off. 2X wine would make it more consistent with other fine dining options.

we were so glad we were recommended to come to Hys, we are visiting from New Zealand and everything about our experience was outstanding, we would SO love to return, the staff were so obliging, Chad was our server and very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food, just beautiful .. steak so tender .. it was a very positive experience ... thank you ! and we would certainly recommend to others.

Service and ambiance was top notch, definitely a top steakhouse in Vancouver. Cheese bread and caesar salad are must gets. Got the bone-in ribeye medium rare but I think the recommendation from the server to Pittsburgh style the steak made it a little overcooked (and too much of a charcoal taste). Mash potatoes were good, not too buttery, and the mushrooms were tasty. Received lots of birthday wishes from the staff but don’t expect any freebies on the house to celebrate the occasion.

Thanks to Andrew our waiter. He is so friendly that keeps us in a mood of celebration. We enjoy the overall cozy environment considered this a busy Friday night. Do not miss the bone in steak. It is juicy and delicious. Also the Cesar salad which is made by your waiter/ waitress at your table side. Unfortunately most nearby public parking are closed after 7 pm, so finding a parking can be a hassle. There should be a suggestion in your website.

Wicked table, atmosphere great. Salad and appetizers was good. Steak was not hot and not cooked to medium, Brussels sprouts over cooked and dry. For the price of the steak I was disappointed. Waiter and table help great job.

The service was excellent. But sad to say the Caesar salad we had was extremely bitter (likely to bad garlic) and the filet I ordered (medium rare and Chicago’d ) was over cooked to medium and the flame finish produced an outside to the steak that was charcoal. As a note I have been a Hy’s client since 1975 in Vancouver and when posted to Ottawa I dined at that location at least once a month for then years.

I've been to Hy's a couple of hundred times, I'm sure. For years I've enjoyed the BEST caesar salad anywhere. Last night, our server, Andrew, worked the made-at-the-table salad dressing to the limit. I originally thought it was a bit overkill, but after tasting the salad, I could see that there was a method to his madness. The salad was definitely in the top-ten of all the caesar salads I'd had at Hy's. Who knew?! The steak and fixings were of course the usual 'top-drawer'. The new seating and carpet added recently are a nice addition. Whether for business or a date, Hy's is great.
