We eloped to Whistler from Vancouver, and had had dinner at Il Caminetto. They went above and beyond to make us feel special, with lots of little extras. The food and service were wonderful - so glad we chose it for our big day.
Food and service were both excellent. Wine was overpriced.
My new favourite whistler restaurant! Food, drinks and atmosphere was amazing. Will be back.
What a fabulous evening! Food, service and ambience did not disappoint. Felt as though we had been transported to New York City. Other restaurants in Whistler need to follow suit and consider renovating/revamping as Il Caminetto has done.
Love this restaurant and wholeheartedly recommend it! (but see the second paragraph for a disclaimer) It was just my husband and me for this visit so we split the rib eye. Last time we were there we had four of us and shared the bistecca all fiorentina and were blown away. The rib eye was not as good, but our expectations were set too high for a different cut and preparation. A gentlemen beside us had the lasagna and reported it was superb. We shared the daily pasta special, which was a lamb ragu and it was delicious. The texture of the house made pasta was remarkable.. We also had the burrata with grilled pear antipasti. It was literally such a delight to behold. I know that sounds a bit over the top, but seriously, it was poetry to eat. The pear looked like a little forest floor. I would order it again just to look at it, but the house made burrata was very good in and of itself.
I have only one thing to say in the negative and if seems to be becoming the trend: the drink prices are ridiculous. My husband doesn't drink, so we don't get a bottle. Glasses of wine are only available as 5oz pours and then a half liter (about 31oz). So for 2 glasses of wine over the coarse of my dinner I added about $75 to the bill. And that was for entry level California cab.
Exceptional food and service. Birthday dinner while in Whistler
Excellent, great food... fantastic service, this is a restaurant that you have to visit in Whistler 😀
Most Everything was great, as usual, unfortunately my husband’s steak had some really tough strings, which was unexpected and disappointing.
Excellent halibut special. Top notch experience.
Carpaccio is the best ever!
I don't really want to write a review for this restaurant - it might become so popular that next time I
want to book I might not get a table!
It was a wonderful evening - delicious dinner, great service [ look out for the excellent Irish waiter] and
fabulous negroni's in a relaxing atmosphere.
Wonderful meal in all respects. Great service and amazing food.
Wonderful. The prosciutto was dreamy. So light and and delicate and delicious. The bread is so good. Everything was lovely. I’ll be back.
Fantastic restaurant , staff are absolutely spot on . Professional, attentive , knowlegable and personable. Food was superb , second visit for us there will definately be a third . The ambience of the restaurant is also excellent . Would not hesitate to recommend the place
We were excited to try the newly remodeled restaurant. Our experience was mixed. The server was friendly but not attentive. She never apologized for the slow delivery of our appetizer or asked us how it was. The scallops were delicious but not very warm which spoiled it for me. I have a feeling it was sitting in the kitchen waiting to be brought to us.
The main courses were mixed. The fusilli pasta was undercooked but very hot. My dish was warm at best. We waited 15 plus minutes for it. The server did come by to say it would be out soon only to wait what would have been the typical amount of time for an order. There was clearly a problem with one of the dishes and it left a bad taste of our experience. I would have expected an apology and part of the meal to be comped.
Someone did come by with 2 glasses of lemoncello. Unfortunately, no mention of the problem was made and my husband does not drink.
My assessment is that they need more help in the kitchen and better training to know how to appropriately handle problems that inevitably arrive. I expect more from a restaurant of this caliber.
Had a great experience! Tastes like an authentic Italian meal! Definitely a little more expensive but worth it! Definitely recommend this place for a special occasion, a vacation wow meal, or a business meal! It was a busy Saturday night so service was a little slower but our server was wonderful and the food was amazing & better yet drinks were phenomenal!
This restaurant used to be warm and welcoming, now it is sterile.
We went for dinner with friends and had an amazing night. I feel like I could be in any big city high end restaurant
Food was incredible and staff as well
The food was tasty, but the service was lacking. To begin with the service was slow. Then when our mains came, we were asked if we wanted any more drinks to which we said yes. They didn't arrive but managed to find their way onto our cheque. Disappointing as it has the potential to be a great restaurant but both times I've been we have found the service to be pretty poor.
Excelente atención y servicio, la comida de excelente calidad
My 14 yr old daughter and I quite enjoyed our dinner out in Whistler. It was her choice to have Italian and Il Caminetto did not disappoint her or I - thanks for helping us share a memorable evening!
A nice restaurant but food does not measure up to Umberto’s good will and name.
Delicious from beginning to end and easily accommodated my food allergies. Amazing food, nice ambiance, and great service. Couldn’t ask for anything more.
Hands down far and away the best restaurant in the area, period. Entirely exceptional.
Nice atmosphere. Upscale but not too upscale. Appetizers and desserts were amazing. Caesar salad and scallop dish. The blood red orange sorbet was fantastic. Hazelnut ice cream was very hazelnutty. We had pasta for mains - they were pretty rich but still good. We had just gotten married so we were treated with some complimentary bubbly. Enjoyed our experience.
We had a lovely evening there, the meal was fantastic. No complaints, a real treat!
This is a beautiful restaurant, the food is fantastic and the service was perfect. We will definitely be back
Delicious food but very expensive. Simple vegetarian pasta dish $30.
Good service and lovely ambience. Shame my main was very ordinary...was the plat of the jour.
Should stick to the well known ones... the steak was superb for those who had steak!
Our annual pilgrimage to our favourite village restaurant didn’t disappoint - fabulous food, service in the most beautiful room in town. Loved every minute of our experience- we will be back!
Excellent food with great staff and space for large groups and intimate dinners alike!
Amazing Service food desert wine list and ambiance
Absolutely great experience, food and wine. The sommelier is outstanding for guidance and selection. My wish, more shishito peppers on the order and an option to just have octopus or tuna. The octopus was fab! Don't miss out on the gelato!
The best Burrata appetizer that I have ever had. It is served with a glazed Bartlett pear. Delicious homemade pastas. Relaxing upscale environment in the heart of Whistler Village.
we are Whistler long time locals and went to dinner over the weekend. We had not been since the change in ownership and we were extremely impressed.
The service was outstanding and we loved our dinner. We would go back again !
Ryan, the manger, is always so welcoming. Our server was great to chat with and our dinner was delicious.
Wonderful server and generally a good experience. The major exception was a very watered down martini that cost $25. When I asked for blue cheese olives in the martini i was charged $2 more for two tiny olives. This is not in keeping with the standards of the restaurant
Our party of four loved our experience at Il Caminetto! Stuart was our waiter and he did a great job of making recommendations and serving our table with great attention. We shared the porterhouse and sides amongst the four of us, as well as an upsized scallop appetizer and olives. We swapped out one of the sides for a nonstarch, which was happily done for us. The noise level was quite comfortable, which we appreciate so much with every passing year. There was a very large table of fairly intoxicated men across the room and it was not disturbing. We watched the coatcheck-exit mayhem with all these drunk guys and the staff handled it very professionally and as quickly as they could (none of the men could find their tickets). The ambiance and atmosphere were elegant yet relaxing. We can't wait to return!
Great service and atmosphere! Staff were friendly and attentive!
Our dinner at Il Caminetto was wonderful. The food was incredible and the service flawless. Our group had several dietary restrictions and the server was knowledgeable regarding the dishes and if modifications were needed. When a dish came out incorrectly, it was fixed in what seemed like seconds. The extensive wine list is a wonderful mix of local features and international options. I'd highly recommend this as a dining destination in Whistler.
