Best Italian food in DC!
Il Canale continues to be our favorite restaurant! Best of everything, served with love, perfectionism, and style!
We went to Il Canale for our anniversary dinner. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. Our server surprised us with a decadent treat at the end of the meal to wish us a Happy Anniversary. A perfect night to celebrate 24 happy years together!
Incredible place. Always come to town and make a point to visit here
Wonderful and authentic food!
Visiting D.C. for the weekend. Pizza reminded us of pizza from Italy. Must try the pizza.
Very tasty pizza, the real taste of Italy with fine crust made with organic Italian flour
Had a delicious meal! Really nice wine glass selection, tasty Caesar, and lobster ravioli was nicely filled with meat - no fillers. Pizza was delicious, too! Only thing that was a bit disappointing was the service…never felt more rushed to order at a nice restaurant before. A few remarks were made that made it a bit uncomfortable, but he may have been a new waiter so of course we didn’t dwell on it too much. Overall a great dinner!
Everything was very good: drinks, wine, appetizers, pizza, lobster ravioli, desserts and coffee
We arrived almost an hour early for our reservation at a busy time but were seated right away. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly, portions large and high quality.
Everything was great! The food, the service, the atmosphere
It was such a wonderful time! Service was very fast and attentive. Food was amazing
The food was absolutely amazing!!! Pasta was delicious, the crust on the calzone was so light and yummy. We shared 2 appetizers, 3 dishes, desert and coffee and they all were amazing!
Arrived at 8:15 for our reservation and there was a large crowd outside the restaurant waiting to be seated. We waited 20 minutes until the hosts called our name. Once seated, the food and drinks came out very quickly. We tried the bruschetta, two pizzas, and the Torta Siciliana. Would go back - but keep in mind that it’s very loud/busy on a Saturday night.
Very poor lighting so we could barely see the food. Service was rushed.
Very good food and very attentive server. The only issue is seating. We had a reservation for 7, but we’re not seated until much later. There were many people with reservations waiting on the sidewalk.
It was really great. The time it took to get seated was frustrating, but the food was delicious.
Lunch was good
We had reservations
Best pizza in DC. The crust, toppings and sauce are outstanding -- all the time. I have eaten here 10-12 times over the years, and always look forward to returning. I am already thinking about which salad and which pizza I will have for my next visit. Reservations highly recommended to avoid long wait for table.
Bruno, youre the man!
Food was nothing special. The ravioli tasted undercooked on the sides, didn’t taste freshly made. Won’t be going back
Never a complaint !
Disappointed with poor service. Entrees are excellent. Everything else average.
The food was very good but we had an issue with the wait time for our table. We had a reservation and arrived only minutes after our reservation time and did not get seated until almost 40 minutes after late. When asking the host multiple times when we might be seated they kept saying “it’ll only be a few more moments” when it really wasn’t. It seemed like they were just sitting people on a first come first serve basis, not taking into consideration reservation times at all. The other people in line had the same experience as us. The host told everyone I’d be only “a few moment” when that wasn’t the case at all. If the host would of been more honest about how long we would have to wait to be seated even with a reservation then we could of made the decision ourselves about whether or not we wanted to wait the 40 minutes for our table versus being lied too about when we might be seated. But once we finally did sit down the food was delicious. I recommend this place for the food, but be prepared to wait a while for your table if you go on a busy night like a Saturday, even if you have a reservation!
Really exceptional Italian classics, with the modern twist of gluten-free pasta choices. Food is always delicious.
Party of 4, one of us had dined here before and loved it. I was still full from a heavy lunch, so I opted for a salad. When I asked the server to add chicken (which was listed in the menu as an option for +$7), she informed me the chicken can only be added to the house salad. I was disappointed but ordered it anyway. The entree salad came out and was the same size as my friend’s half salad. It had no flavor and was served on a hot plate. There were 2 olives and 2 tomato halves. Very, very lightly dressed. Clearly, I should have ordered the pizza. My server seemed distracted, or under the influence of something the entire time. She couldn’t answer any questions. When asked for recommendations, she said “it’s all good”.
Il Canale is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in DC area, food is always very delicious, and the service is excellent.
The pizza was INCREDIBLE, but the rest of the food we ordered ranged from average to mediocre. Skip the chicken dish, side order of spinach, and meatballs.
An altogether a wonderful experience. This chic and cozy Italian restaurant offers food reminiscent of Tuscany and Sorrento, with creamy ricotta filling every bite. The dessert was heaven. The only issue was the wait we had to get seated and the length of time between speaking to our server.
Gluten free pizza was Amazing we had the Diavola!
A great experience and experience, it was! Enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the vibe of Georgetown!
We picked Il Canale for dinner this week after having walked by people enjoying their incredible pizzas dozens of times. We had to get a pizza which was amazing! Also enjoyed a very fresh salad-I highly recommend the lemon dressing. Lamb chops and a side of spinach rounded out our meal. All portions are large enough to share; we left happily full. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely go back!
Excellent family dinner.
Giovanni did a great job. Salad - fresh! Enough to share. Fried calamari was fabulous. Pizza margareta was delicious. affogato and cannoli desserts were yummy! Great wine too.
We LOVED eating here! The food was delish and our waiter was fab 14/10
Bruno is the best!!! I swear your pizza tastes better every time I go. Grazie amici
