Family run restaurant owner comes up to the table to make sure you’re satisfied Alfredos and amazing waiter food is delicious highly recommend it
Every thing about the restaurant was very enjoyable except the noise level which is way to loud because of all of the hard surfaces used to decorate the restaurant.
Despite the noise, I would definitely return, but probably on a week night.
Service and food excellent
this place is like being back in brooklyn. incredible food and service owner is incredible. must check it out you won’t be sorry
Everything was perfect
When we arrived the hostess wished us a happy anniversary which I was surprised by, but delighted. You add that special occasion when you make the reservation, but normally no one says anything. From the time we sat the service was excellent. There was one other table so it was quiet, but as it got fuller I could see when other reviews mentioned the noise, but it wasn't overbearing. The food was delicious and I'll definitely be back.
Restaurant was full and I guess because of the size it was very loud inside. Felt like I had to yell in order to have a conversation. Otherwise the food was fantastic and service was good.
Horror show- a scene from a Soprano episode. Had to have our seat changed because of large party of approximately 30 people wandering around- baby strollers. Loud obnoxious clientele. Then the waiter gave us a bill for $550.00 that belonged to another party. Our bill was $84. Never again!
Beautifully prepared meal top notch service
Again seems that my posts lately reflect what could be the new norm. The food was good, the calamari was good just not an over abundance , in fact barely an abundance at all. The meatballs were very good. I especially liked the sauce. I sopped up the sauce with some bread. Delicious.
The noise level was so high that the server, who was standing at the other side of a 4 top, couldn't hear my order. I said it louder a couple of times. It turned out she still couldn't understand as I got the wrong order. When it arrived and told her she brought it back and then back to me again with the menu. Blaming me. We, at my table, heard the spaghetti special with lobster. My fault as there was lobster special though it did not come with spaghetti. The spaghetti special came with lagostinos. But that is how unbearably loud it was.
The lobster special was delicious, but not what I wanted. Waiting for the new order would have taken too long.
Overall, good food, but that noise was too much.
Good service, however, the kitchen is a bit slow getting the food out.
We loved our waiter George and Pasquale always checking on our table!!!
My husband and I just purchased our first home! We came here with his parents and my mother. The food was excellent, the bus boy was superb - his service was excellent. We went out of our way to tip him $40. Our server was subpar, he forgot our orders of bread twice. In addition to my order of lobster ravioli - which I received 20 minutes after our table received their meals. He didn’t ask us how our food was and didn’t service us the whole night. By the time the raviolis came - I took it to go. However. Would recommend. Unfortunate situation with the waiter but will be back.
Food outstanding, Pasquele just as outstanding. Great staff
My wife and I went for a low key birthday dinner as we knew the food would excellent and we were not disappointed.
The service is outstanding, food is excellent and the restaurant is a nice space, arranged well, good spacing between tables. We shared an arugula/ pamesean/ prosciutto personal pizza to start per the recommendation of Alessandro…delicious perfect crust and blend of flavors. We ordered off the daily special menu. I had the red snapper, rapini and mashed potato. The fish was perfect, not overdone as so many restaurants do, and my wife had the risotto with mushroom, filet mignon pieces and a light truffle flavor.
Scrumptious! We did not have dessert but did have tiramisu on another occasion and it was just the right amount of ingredients yet still light.
Our only observance is the “robust” noise level. It’s a popular place for large gatherings and people get loud!
Otherwise Il Colesseo is such a positive experience, exceptional food and service, not far from home!
Happy to give it high marks
Excellent service and food. Will be back.
Went for a girls night. The place was busy for a Monday night. We had a reservation so we were seated right away. The food was very good, no complaints from anyone. Our waiter was very nice but not very attentive. That may have been because they were busy. We saw him to bring our meals but never came back to see if anyone needed anything until a good time later. We weren’t in a hurry at all & it was nice that we were able to take our time & enjoy each other’s company. It’s a BYOB which we enjoyed as well. We were all too full to try dessert but they had some good options. We will definitely go back, everyone was really nice.
Very attentive service. All apps, entrees, and desserts were excellent.
Never would I return. 2.5 hours and no entrees. RIDICULOUS. We left with a party of six. Sad way to waste a 25 th anniversary. No explanation until I asked why. People called out. Sooo stop taking reservations and walk-ins? No. Because you are GREEDY. . Spend your money and time elsewhere. Patricia’s and Buona Sera are much better…
I actually recorded the noise as it was UNBEARABLY LOUD! I could not believe the acoustics. The level rose as dinners arrived as everyone was actually yelling in order to be heard. One couple sat next to us & he remarked to her headache condition that was about to get worse as they were seated! Will not return..
We have gone to II Colosseo many times and had a pretty decent experience the previous times as the food is pretty good. The only downfall is the restaurant is extremely loud and you can hardly hear the person next to you talk. This time around we had reservations for 6:30pm. We have little children and we didn’t receive our main courses until 8:45. We ordered at 7. We found this to be absolutely absurd and turned us off on ever wanting to return down the line. We ended up leaving the restaurant at 9:45. Service was very bad.
Food and service was good. Extremely noisy. Runner/busboy who cleaned off our table had terrible body odor which is a deal breaker for me.
Party of 5. We ordered appetizers and entrees. Appetizers came in a timely manner and were delicious. After about 10 minutes our table was completely cleaned off and after another 10 minutes our waiter brought dessert menus. We had not received our entrees! That led to a wait of at least 35 minutes before we got our food. I know food establishments have trouble these days getting help but something was definitely not right on the night of our visit. We did not get any apology or explanation for the delay and mix up in our courses. I may think about giving them another try but it will be a while before I try again.
This place is an absolute must if you love good Italian. We are a family of Italians and we are very selective when it comes to Italian restaurants. This one is superb!
Fabulous food and service! We dined outdoors but inside was very cute too.
The waiter was extremely attentive and willing to accommodate us in any way.
The food was delicious just as good as any of the five star restaurants in NYC.
Will absolutely return with friends for this wonderful dining experience.
Outstanding menu with a abundant amount of seafood dishes.
First time eating here after hearing nothing but good things. Decent size place but, very LOUD. Service was slow but it was apparent there were only two servers for maybe 30 tables which I felt awful for the staff. Even with the workload, our server was extremely pleasant and was doing his best. Sadly, with the exception of the meatballs, the food severely lacked flavor and seasoning. Not going to give up on this place as we will try again but, maybe on weeknight when it may be less busy and the staff isn’t overwhelmed.
Food is always fantastic!!!! I would definitely recommend giving it a try!
Food and service are exceptional.. if you plan on having quiet conversation, this isn’t your place.
Good food. Very loud.
It was our first time dining there. Very gracious hostess, wonderful service by George, varied menu, fabulous food. The owner came over to greet us which was a nice touch. The only negative was the dining room was very loud making it difficult to have a conversation.
Good was ok. A little pricy. Very LOUD! Took more than 20minutes to get our check.
Food very good service adequate noise level too high!
Wonderful service! Alexandro was our waiter and he was awesome
Food was excellent from the appetizers to the entrees. Pasquale is the best. Hand on owner helps out anywhere when needed and is very kind. Will be going back there many times
Decent food, with interesting seasonings. Service was personable but very relaxed given the small number of diners. BYOB
Delicious food, great specials and plenty to choose from. The best Italian restaurant in the area.
Food was great, service was very good, a bit loud however.
Excellent food and service. Butternut squash ravioli was fantastic.
