What a terrible disappointment. For almost 30 years our family enjoyed an occasional get together and pasta dinner at this conveniently located and pretty place. The Caesar salad romaine lettuce was limp and not fresh tasting. The pizza Margarita was soggy and the tagliatelle bolognese was bland and heavy handed. 2 pasta dishes, a pizza and a few glasses of wine came to over $200. Sadly we’ll never return. I think it went downhill from the pandemic and never recovered it’s former quality. The selection of pastas were uninspiring, didn’t even have the standby capellini pomodoro or butternut squash ravioli with burnt butter sage sauce.

Quite pricy but delicious. They had a special eggplant dish that the description read oddly, it said it had an egg on top. The server said it couldn’t be modified. I decided to risk it. The egg must have been used somewhere in the dish but it wasn’t detectable, it was simply amazing eggplant parmesan dish.

I thought the front receptionist could have been more helpful in that she took us to a table that was in the sun still, and being a super hot day that was not quite sensitive to the environment at hand. She could have offered to close the curtains possibly. Not sure. She was nice and asked where we wanted to sit instead but—. Then I did see her relay the desire we intimated to a server. Perhaps it was his section. I get it.

They did not have the appetizer listed on the menu, Zucchini blossoms fritters, that we wanted. This is disappointing when it happens. The sides on the entrees were pretty similar— both had mashed potatoes & asparagus— simply added capers to one and mushrooms to the other— should show more ingenuity!

Waiter was attentive but told us we could not withhold the quinoa from salad or the Parmesan cheese on another salad when apparently that was not the case. Asst Manager did check with us at end of dinner. Service was prompt for a busy Saturday evening. Noise level very high…difficult to hear fellow diners!

We had seafood pasta with a glass of Cabernet and Pollo Al Funghi with a glass of Prosecco. The food was delicious. The reason it's only 3 stars is slow service from a very rushed waiter and being charged for an extra glass of wine. The charge was removed when we pointed it out. Cost plus tip averaged $60/person. Regarding ambiance, we sat on the patio and it was comfortable and pretty. Unfortunately, we were facing French doors and a waiter decided to tape up a white tablecloth on them right in front of us to shade some people inside.

It was a beautiful meal that made for a great anniversary celebration. The pork chop was succulent, my spouses pasta was tender and flavorful. The meat platter was well organized and the coffee was my favorite part. It gave the full mouth feel of a strong and sweet cup of deliciousness. Our waiter was very attentive.

I have been dining at Il Fornaio Corte Madera for 35 years. We tried two new dishes. The pear salad was great and we’ll be adding that to our rotation. The Amatriciana pasta was mediocre at best. Thin sauce, not much flavor, a few pieces of pork at the bottom. Very disappointing. Will go back to my favorite Rigatoni Alla Vodka which is great. Service was uncharacteristically mediocre as well. The waiter was alway running and never slowed down enough to listen, even when taking our order. We knew he was going to be “off” when the first thing he said as he approached our table was “can I get you some water and bread?”. Never mind there wer two glass of water already on the table brought to us by the busboy. He never actually stopped, paused and spoke to us properly. We ordered the special pasta. He returned after a little while and told us it was sold out, and he recommended the previously mentioned Amatriciana. He never actually asked how the food was or if we needed anything. I had to ask him to refill the plate with olive oil & balsamic twice, when it was obvious it was empty and we had half a basket of bread left. I guess asking him the first time wasn’t good enough. The he brought the bill. It was wrong as we were charged for two pastas, the special that was sold out & the pasta he actually brought us. When I brought it to his attention, he didn’t own the mistake by saying something like “I’m so sorry, let me fix that”. Instead he blamed the error on his manager saying “he couldn’t fix it himself”. What a jerk…he should have owned the error instead of blaming someone else. He took the order, he should have reviewed the bill before presenting it to us, he shoujd have caught the error himself to begin with. Even so, when it was pointed out to him, “I’m so sorry, let me correct that right away” should have been his immediate and only response. We’ll be avoided thus server in the future. We tipped him 15%…with thus terrible service, that was a generous gift.

I made reservations for my husband’s birthday which I listed on OpenTable as always however, nothing was done. I’ve never had to ask once I got to a restaurant, so that was disappointing. The restaurant was nice and the waiter was ok I had gone to the location in Sacramento previously and for the most part enjoyed my visit in Sacramento. My only issue in Sacramento was my potatoes were over cooked but the rest of my meal was good. However, this time it lacked seasoning. My husband’s meal as well. We had to ask for salt and pepper to add to the entire meal. I was not impressed at all, unfortunately.

The restaurant had a nice atmosphere, good for larger groups, not a romantic dinner. Our main meal was delivered to the table before we had finished our starter which was disappointing as it was a special dinner for us. The waiters also had no room to get between tables so we were being bumped quite often. Food was nice and staff were friendly.
