Istanbul Kebab House
We are family owned and operated since 2012.
The name of our restaurant, Istanbul Kebab House, magnificently represents this melting pot and the food we are serving. What is unique and excellent about our restaurant is that we are able to offer up the freshest of produce and meats, on which Turkish food is predominantly based, from the many local Vermont farms. We are dedicated to buying local ingredients whenever possible. This not only enhances the culinary experience at our restaurant but it also supports the local economy in a very special way. We like to think of our concept as Turkish food with a Vermont Twist.
We had eggplant stuffed with lamb and it was delicious. Will definitely return.
Always awesome service and tasty food! The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is family friendly and relaxed. Thank you.
My mouth is watering just thinking of the meal we had. Kebabs, with Kunefe for dessert. The waitstaff is so friendly -- they seem happy to be there, and so was I!
Our food was delicious. However, we had a reservation, and were first seated upstairs, as the downstairs was full. We were the only people upstairs, and after a good 5 minutes of no attention, my husband went downstairs to check. We were then able to be seated downstairs. We waited again, ordered wine and dinner, and waited again. The wine came with our dinner, not what we were expecting (we enjoy sipping our wine while we wait for our order). The server seemed to recognize the error when our food was served, and stated he thought we would have wanted our wine with our food. Not sure how soon we will go again.
One of our favorite places in Burlington!
The staff helped me pull off a great Valentine’s Day dinner.
Amazing food, service and ambiance. It never disappoints!
This was our third time at Istanbul Kabob House, and we will certainly go back again.
Fabulous feel, food and service. Perfect meal on a snowy winter night. Everything was a hit! Ordered large mezze platter for 5 and each had entrees. Two went home with leftovers. Will go back again!
Love the food, quality is great and the family members are so kind. The wine they import themselves is delicious. So appreciate the chance to have middle eastern food and flavors in Burlington!
We shared a large app and a mixed plate. It was wonderful! Not many tables, so make a reservation!
Apparently there are only 2 tables that seat 4 people. One is upstairs and the other is literally next to the front door. In the winter this can be quite drafty and unpleasant. Be sure to request and receive confirmation for the upstairs table when making reservations for 4.
Great food, friendly service! Can not guarantee there won’t be loud children but even if there are some present, the food will make up for it.
Among the charms of the Istanbul Kebab house is the peaceful quiet compared to most restaurants today, and that’s with perhaps the tables full on the night we were there. The food is very good and comes promptly if you are heading to an evening performance at the Flynn Theater, which we were. The staff is courteous and lively. We have been several times and the same qualities were evident.
The staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to choosing dishes that were dairy-free, even when the restaurant was very busy. The food came quickly, and it was delicious. I’ll definitely be back.
We were there on New Year's Eve. We love eating at Istanbul, so we knew the food would be great. The only issue we had — and this was the first time it had ever happened — was that we were rushed through our meal. We ordered hors d'oevres, and BAM! it was there on a chilled and obviously pre-fabbed plate. Halfway through eating that, our entrees arrived. Then when my plate was still half full, we were asked if we wanted our plates taken away. I could understand the rush if there had been people waiting, but there weren’t, and there were empty tables. Our whole meal, from walking in to walking out the door, was 45 mins. That’s a bit short for a holiday evening out, drinks, hors d'oevres, and entree, I think. We’ll go back, of course, but it could be that the protocol on a busy night needs a review by management.
Ambiance was only think lacking.
Every staff member we encountered was wonderful.
Food was terrific and served in a timely fashion.
I recommend this restaurant to everyone who goes to burlington and wants to avoid the church street idiocy.
A wonderful evening at this special restaurant where the all the staff where caring and attentive. We tried many dishes and all where delicious. The babaganoush Was the outstanding and the fineness we have every tasted. It was outstanding and very special. It alone would be cause to return often. The community is fortunate to have such a special restaurant
Excellent food. Friendly. Great ambience. Prompt service.
The restaurant serves authentic Turkish food. We went there for Christmas dinner and had the best meal! Each plate was amazing. The Turkish rice pudding dessert was outstanding. I definitely recommend this place!
Istanbul Kebab House is one of our favorites spots in Burlington. The food is consistently top notch, and the staff are very friendly and inviting. It's a great spot for just two of us, or for larger groups.
Top quality Turkish cuisine! Awesome Falafel and kebabs. Incredibly flavorful food and awesome wait staff. Can't wait to try more from the menu.
Great gluten free options and lots of them! Food is always amazing and the staff excellent.
Love the food and the service is great! Wonderful ambiance.
Open table took my reservation- even modified the time without telling me the restaurant was closed Dec 2 . I arrived with my party to lights out, closed door and a sign telling us the kitchen was being cleaned. DISAPPOINTED!!!!!! I love the food, the service- everything about Istanbul Kebab but please keep the online booking site current!
Had a great leisurely Saturday lunch here. Highly recommend. We enjoyed the meze platter as an appetizer (we really enjoyed this) and then the lamb stuffed eggplant, chicken shish kebab (so tender and amazing flavor), and lamb meatballs. Topped it off with Turkish coffees, almond pudding and maple baklava. Everything was delicious. Is definitely on the list for another meal in the future!
Great food, lamb is delicious. Helpful wait staff. The table closest to the door can be chilly on a cold windy night. Great place for carry out too.
Food was very well prepared. Authentic cuisine and atmosphere. I would highly recommend.
Food was amazing! Service was excellent! Can't wait to go back!!
I made a reservation to this restaurant to take a few clients out to while attending the conference. We walked there in the snow and were looking forward to the meal, but found the lights off and a note indicating that they weren't open. Pretty frustrating to be freezing and disoriented and also trying to find another restaurant.
Excellent food and service. A real find. I especially enjoyed the babaganoush and the lamb kebab. Friendly, warm, but not intrusive. I will go back.
We love the Kebab House. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. But of course the most important aspect is the food. Every dish we have enjoyed there has been delicious.
We had an enjoyable dinner sharing the appetizer platter, then had the lamb stuffed eggplant. Both were very good. Staff was very friendly.
We had dinner before a Flynn Theater performance. It made for a nice evening. Also have had several lunches. Its convenient downtown location along with the unique menu and efficient waitstaff makes for a nice change of pace.
Fantastic food and service! Looking forward to returning soon.
You must order the lavosh. It’s so good and the presentation is the best. My husband and I shared the lamb meatballs which are actually patties and there are 5. We still ended up taking some home.
This place is fantastic. You have to try the mezze platter to get a taste of everything. The grape leaves are the best I’ve ever had. Whenever we go to Burlington we have to eat here.
Delicious food, pretty good size portions. Best baklava I've ever had.
We were not very familiar with Turkish food. The waitress was very patient explaining the dishes and answering our questions. We took her up on some of her recommendations and loved every last bite.
We have enjoyed Istanbul Kebab House three times. They have a good range of gluten free and non-meat dishes that appeal for my family members who need that, plus the kebabs you would expect. This time we sat on the second floor, which was pleasant. The service was really attentive.
Been in Turkey 25-30 X, daughter at Uvm. She is no stranger to Turkish food. We loved it and converted someone to the cuisine. Yum.
