A very small neighborhood location with tables very close to each other. Service was very limited and the crowding of the restaurant made it less than desirable for a nice evening out.
This has to be the worse Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The waiter was not knowledgeable of his wines, never asked us if we wanted an appetizer, and after my wife asked for butter two times he finally brought some that were hard as ice cubes. He absolutely had no people skills. The lasagna I ordered tasted like it was two or three days old. The only thing I was pleased with was the price. However price is not always the deciding factor on returning to a restaurant, so with this being said I will never return here. Worse Valentines Day dinner ever.
Service was slow and erratic, took extreme amount of time to even get bread to the table.
This is not a knock at our server. He was very attentive but it took a long time to get our food. We couldn't even get bread. I assume they were short in the kitchen so don't let that keep you away. However, once the food arrived......man on man. It was delicious. I got the past Diablo with chicken and sausage, my husband got the chicken marsala and I forgot what our friend got but she enjoyed it as well. Great food but they just had a few hiccups during our visit.
Meal was very good quality, well prepared and tasty. We enjoyed both the pasta and veal dishes. Beet salad was excellent. Very reasonable priced meal. We will be back.
I'd still recommend this restaurant and the food is good. However, they seemed understaffed when we went and the service was disjointed. It took a long time to be seated by the hostess even though we had a reservation, and her attitude was "lackluster." Also, our veal dish serving was very, very small. If we hadn't ordered an appetizer and salad, we would have left very hungry. The food is good but it feels like management is trying to hard to turn a profit by understaffing and serving small portions.
Very attentive service. High quality food. Best calamari I've ever had. Pasta Bolognese is incredible.
Food was very good. Ambience was also quite nice and romantic. Service was just OK. There were some people at the bar who were obviously either associated with the restaurant or regular customers. The staff, including our waiter was distracted by them throughout the evening which made it difficult to get his attention. This resulted in slow service and unnecessary waiting. Overall, I would recommend, but would hope our next visit brings a bit better service.
Great food and great service. The portions were just right and everything tasted great.
Our server was terrific. Enjoyed trying out the Grill versus the sister restaurant. Great wine list.
New Years eve
I had made a reservation for 5:15 and when we arrived we were the only customers. The hostess wanted to seat us by the front door and when I balked she told me that the other tables had been reserved. I told her again that I had a reservation and asked how my reservation was any different. Then she relented and let us sit by the kitchen. We had a nice meal but my mood was spoiled after arguing about the table. The whole time we were there no other parties of 2 showed up to claim the table at the front door. I’m not in a hurry to go back to either location because i’ve seen This same hostess at both locations and I felt dissed
Calamari was delicious. Flatbread margarita only so-so. The ravioli with butter sage sauce was covered with a red sauce that may have had butter/sage IN it, but not a traditional sauce. Only 8 raviolis for $17. Gnocchi was very good. Bolonese sauce was delicious, but served over way too little pasta. The risotto was underdone and crunchy with enough garlic to kill a horse (which wasn't listed as an ingredient). Overall, the entrees could use a little work. The service was very very good and the ambiance was great. The pace of the meal was good and everything came out at the same time for a party of 6. Will likely try again.
Had a fantastic time, great food, great wine
Excellent good quality Italian food. Everything is fresh. Nice bar. Quiet. Good service. Plenty of parking. Should change name because I think people confuse it with Crispina.
Saturday night. Only about 3 tables occupied. Food was good but not great. First time here, I’ll definitely go back to the original Crispina next time.
We all really enjoyed this restaurant. We have eaten at their other restaurant in the shopping center for years. But this is a different experience.
Food was excellent! My wife and I split the porterhouse steak with sautéed spinach. The steak was unbelievably tender and the spinach was perfect. We also had the beet salad - which was also very good.
Our friends had the veal saltimbocca and the chicken Marsala - they loved both.
Our server was also excellent!!
We highly recommend this restaurant- it’s a hidden gem!
One of our guest's entree was mediocre, the other three were excellent. Also, while the restaurant was not busy, our waiter could have been a little more attentive. We still like the place a lot.
The prices were excellent, but the food not so much. Everything was a bit undercooked. The Chilean sea bass, which is known for its flakiness when prepared properly, had the texture and density of a filet, and the risotta needed a few more minutes on the stove. I could go on, but there is no reason to. On a high note, the bruschetta was delicious and the waiter was very attentive, but those two things should not have been the highlight of the meal. The restaurant was relatively empty, so there was no reason to rush the cooking process.
Comfortable atmosphere, excellent service and Italian cuisine. Chicken Parm was perfect and Chicken Marsala was enjoyed by two of my guests. Nice relaxing place for casual business or unwinding after the work day.
If I could do 3.5 stars, that would be my rating. My rating is directly related to the food, and not the overall experience. My wife and I were in town and wanted a nice sit down meal. Italian sounded good, and Crispina Grill's menu looked very promising. It's overall reviews were very good also. The reviews were correct. The restaurant was nice (although it was pretty empty due to it being Sunday night, I imagine). Our waiter was good. The food was very good. My reason for the low rating is because I specifically chose this restaurant for the Risotto. I was very disappointed when I was informed that there wasn't any and it would take 45 mins for them to make a fresh batch. We didn't want to wait that long, so I ordered the filet mignon which was delicious. I would certainly go back again, but would call first to make sure the Risotto was available.
Excellent Italian dining experience at great value. Food quality was superb.
This was okay. My husband and I dined here with our children, ages 4 and 5, for my birthday. I wouldn’t say this is a “warm” restaurant. The waitstaff is professionally but cold. There was another family there with children, 3 actually, who were younger. There were 3 women at the bar who were very snooty and kept looking at our table and whispering. I managed to catch it and ask my son to turn down the volume on his tablet. Quick fix. I’ve been there before so I understood. However, the restaurant is very small and based on activity, it would be louder at times and quiet at times. Tablets are our solution to enjoying dinner out occasionally with children. We had kids in our very late 30s so our children aren’t McD kids if you know what I mean. I don’t know if we would go back, because it didn’t linger. We didn’t leave feeling we must go back. I’m guessing it’s a decent afterwork spot for the older, professional singles who fit the “Vinings” demographic ... but again, this is Atlanta and there are many, many upscale restaurants who deliver superior service, amazing food whose waitstaff know how to handle a table with children. I’m completely neutral on this.
Good food but probably won't come back since there is much better Italian around the area. A bit over priced too for what you get.
Fabulous meal, great service would highly recommend!
Great waiter. Enjoyed chatting with the bar tender and owner. They made our experience personal and special.
I have been to the Crispina Restaurant and Pizzeria many times and had excellent experiences. This was my first dinner at Crispina Italian Grill and was not disappointed. My friends had seabass and filet and I had the mushroom risotto. We were all very pleased with the meal. Personal friendly service. Would definitely recommend!
We ordered 2 salads and 2 pasta dishes. The salads were tiny and still were 9 dollars. Pasta dishes came out with in minutes which was nice but had a lot to be desired. I felt like food was very mediocre.
The service was decent. The original restaurant is better, this seems like a fast after thought.
Get together with friends
The bruschetta is some of the best I have ever had. Molten lava cake was wonderful. My sons filet was fantastic. Great restaurant.
They have the best sea bass I have ever had. It is consistently delicious as is the cod and from what I hear the steak is outstanding too.
Our first time at the Grill. We are regulars at the Crispina around the corner. The Grill offers more meat items. Portions are take-home-leftovers size. And delicious. Wish there were more pasta choices. Service is excellent. Drinks are fairly poured. I’m a protein eater so I tried the mixed grill. Lots of meat and too many potatoes on the plate. Put a risotto choice on the other Crispina and we’ll stay there. But you can’t go wrong with either!
I'm a steak lover and they have quality steak here. Great value. Nothing like a good piece of meat. I'll be back!
My second time going and I definitely will go back.
Loved the waiters and other staff....knowledgeable and passionate about their menu. Delightful and tasty!
My husband and I were in town for the Blade Show, and were looking for something quiet and delicious, Crispina exceeded our expectations. Wonderful service, high class food, excellent portions, and the atmosphere was outstanding.
If possible, go to its "sister" restaurant, which we went to by mistake. It was VERY crowded. We were not able to get reservations at that restaurant, so we assumed this choice would be good. The place was empty. Had to ask for bread, had to ask for grated cheese, had to ask for sugar for the coffee. Waiters were standing around doing nothing, so there's no excuse.
It was OK. Food was OK as was service. Ambiance was ok, somewhat sterile. The “Open Table” reservation experience was not great: only listed 3 times available: 5:00, 5:15, and 5:30. When we arrived, we were the only ones in the restaurant. The manager said that there were plenty of times available after our 5:30 reservation. I would have much preferred a later time than 5:30.
My husband and I split an appetizer portion of the wild mushroom risotto which was absolutely delicious! We both got salads, a caesar and the beet and arugula with lemon viniagrette, both great! For dinner, the seabass with pesto & specialty of the night, chicken marsala- both delicious! Can't wait to go back- lots of good items to try on future visits!
