This was our first time to Ivy. It was very nice. People were attentive and service was very good starting from our arrival. We booked through open table and would not do that again. Times around what we would have preferred were booked. We arrived 30 minutes early thinking we could have a drink at the bar, They took us to the table right away and over half of the restaurant was empty. Our waiter was excellent. Pleasant, informative and honest. I felt the wine list was limiting. Starting bottle of wine was $68.00. We both enjoyed our meals. We would go back. It is a nice night out where you can get dressed up and be treated well
Not worth how expensive it is. We were going out for our anniversary and made a reservation. When we entered the restaurant no one greeted us. We stood there for a while and had almost decided to leave when one of the three people behind the bar finally came over and asked us if we had reservation. When we said we did he seated us at a table behind a curtain by the front door. Again it was a wait before any one came to our table.
The service was slow and inattentive throughout the meal although our server was pleasant enough. A plate of limp white bread drizzled with olive oil was brought to our table. The appetizer we ordered was very good though ludicrously pricey for one shrimp, one scallop and two chunks of calamari. The main courses were sad. I had chicken involtini, husband had veal and except for the overcooked meat on each plate - they were identical - a pile of mashed potatoes and very large carrots (can this really be italian?) The gravy/sauce appeared to be the same for both entrees.
I had to ask for water twice and no one came near our table to ask how things were. The server did seem to be in a rush to get us to leave and said there was no coffee! They had herbal tea.
The most expensive meal we have had in London, but far from the best.
Some celebration. A big disappointment. Won't return.
Some minor disappointments with our meal. The Insalata Napoletana came with unripe tomatoes right from the fridge. No excuse with the availability of wonderful hot house tomatoes to serve a dish like this. Just a note - tomatoes should never be refrigerated. The gnocchi Gorgonzola was very tasty. The osso buco very dry. Service was friendly and efficient.
All in all a passable meal.
What an amazing evening!! The food was superb, the service was exceptional , the ambiance conducive to fine dining but the noise level was a bit challenging. However, I will not complain about the noise level because it meant that the place was full and busy!!
My special treat was a visit from Mike!!!
Great new restaurant in London. Its actually good italian food with everything well thought of.
From appetizers to main course, everything was good. Excellent wine selection that you wont find everywhere.
I have tried other Italian restaurants, and they dont even come close to this one.
Great job from the owners.
First time dining and it did not disappoint. Great food and service. Glad we saved room to share dessert
Beautiful interior design. Fabulous food, very knowledgeable service staff. Great wine list and the patio is currently being updated! Also tones of parking onsite. We will be back quite frequently.
Great place , London is happy to have a place with quality good food.
I really like the restaurant, and the service was impeccable. However, the food was not what I expected it to be. Appetizers were good, but our entrees were not fine dining quality. We waited a really long time for our entrees. My pasta was burnt and my husbands salmon looked like an 8 year old plated it - taste was ok. It's unfortunate because it really is a great spot. But for the price, the food game needs to be turned up.
Really enjoyed our evening at Ivy. The service was very good and food was delicious!! Would highly recommend....
Had the best experience in March and the worst experience today. This will be along review so be prepared. We waited 10 minutes before anyone came to our table and our server immediately wanted to tell us about the dinner specials rather than welcome us and take our drink order. We had to ask for water and bread several times. Another 10 minutes later we were served the wine we requested for dinner rather than our pre dinner cocktails. Bread consisted of 3 tiny pieces. To make conversation we asked our server how long he has been a server at Ivy and with an eye roll, said since March, no February, maybe March. He continued with his commentary that Londoners are weird because in most cities, new restaurants make a killing in the first 3 months but not in this town. People in London are not sophisticated. Hmmmm.... is that so.
Many staff bustling about, bumping into themselves and walls (not kidding) but no one really making sure water glasses are full, tables are clear etc.
Waited 45 minutes for our entrees. Entree plate placed on bread plate, see above. Lamb ordered rare came out well done, veal was dry with cold veg and Osso Bucco resembled a dry stew with cold rice??? Meat sat under a heat lamp and veg in the fridge for a long period before being served???
When we told our server our meal was not acceptable, he called over the “manager”. She did not apologize, ask why we were not pleased with our meal or ask how the restaurant could make the situation better. Asked for our bill and paid for our overpriced wine. Server made no eye contact, did not speak to us or apologize while we paid our bill. Manager and staff didn’t seem to care.
As much as we raved about our initial dining experience, the opposite is now true. To charge the prices you do, the expectation is to have professional, experienced and pleasant staff with attentive service and quality (hot and fresh) meals. We will not recommended Ivy or go back.
The food was excellent. We had the veal and the seafood linguine. Nice decor, they've added curtains to break up the big open space. I only worry is that this is a high end restuaranat and it may not survive in this area of the city.
Fantastic!! Food was memorable, staff friendly, the entire experience was great!!
The evening was a smash-I’d even Say it was the best Italian meal I have had outside of Italy.
As always, our experience at Ivy was exceptional. Not only is the food delicious and clearly made with a great deal of TLC, but the serving staff and leadership team there always go above and beyond to cater to the unique needs of each diner. This is the perfect place for a romantic date or a celebration, and I have already recommended the restaurant highly to a number of people. If you appreciate high-quality food, wine and desserts, you will be delighted to find this hidden gem has made its new home in London.
The food came so fast we did not have time to finish our cocktails. Everything was done in such a hurry. I also felt the food was dumped on the plate with no respect for proper presentation. They could do much better
Congratulations to owner Michael and Chef Roberto for co-creating the perfect medley of mood and food. Your lovingly prepared plates (that osso bucco!) and thoughtful surprises were served with an air of understated sophistication in a uniquely stylish environment. Completely in keeping with your respected reputation, you’ve delivered exactly as you promised - thank you for serving the best of Italy, in London Ontario.
Great service, amazing food! I highly recommend it
We had a really great experience here. The food was to die for and service was very friendly and knowledgeable. Salumi plate and cozze to start was delicious. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their mains, followed by mouth watering creme brulee and Tiramisu for dessert. Parking on-site was plentiful and the wine list was very extensive and impressive. We will definitely be back to enjoy another great meal and friendly service.
First time at this new restaurant. We have eaten at many high and lower end restaurants over the years and the food at this restaurant was mediocre at best. My wife ordered the veal in red wine sauce and the wine was not reduced properly so the meat was just drenched in wine which gave it a sour taste. My seafood linguine was bland but had enough seafood in it. I don't think that we would go back......it was fairly higher priced food and this did not reflect the quality expected.
I told several people that the food was outstanding, but the service was terrible. We felt completely ignored and had to repeatedly flag someone down to serve us. I wouldn't say I recommended it, but just told the truth so they can make an informed decision about whether or not to go there.
This is a beautiful restaurant and I really want it to succeed. Unfortunately, after the ambience it is all downhill. I have eaten here twice now and won’t be back for a third. The food is mediocre at best and the service is annoying. There are a ton of friendly people trying to help and none of them do. From clearing plates before you are finished to getting the order wrong, leaving one person at a table of 6 without a main for almost 15 minutes, the inexperience shows. This is not a cheap restaurant with food on par with most high end London eateries and a much pricier wine list. Needs more than a pretty setting and a patio to succeed.
One of the best tasting meals we have had in a long time and our food came out of the kitchen HOT!! Nice decor and ambiance. More wine options under $65 a bottle would be ideal.
Excellent quality, pleasant ambience, attentive, friendly and efficient service.
Incredible food, wonderful wine selections, intimate ambience, amazing service by Michael
Food was fabulous. We all enjoyed our entrées.
Pleasant atmosphere. Delicious choices on the menu.
Service was slow ( but they apologized and presented dessert)
Certainly another try is worth it.
We ordered cocktails first, when those were brought, they took a wine order for dinner, and we ordered a bottle, which they immediately brought and poured, so now we have two drinks on the go. To make it worse, they then brought our apps, before cocktails were even done! Nothing like enjoying your Manhattan with an Arugula salad... I didn't eat mine as I wanted to finish my cocktail without eating at the same time, which is bizarre, as best. My partner did eat hers, and someone came by, took her plate and then asked if I was done! I had barely started. Then the mains came. This was all within 30 minutes. I got a bit rude with the server at this point and told him that we felt rushed etc, and he was gracious, and it turned out he was the owner, Mike, and was not our initial server (who didn't seem very experienced).
After this point everything unfolded at a more expected pace, and the overall experience was good, though based on food alone it would have been excellent. I will go back, but this was a $250 dollar dinner, and at that price one should not be rushed. I would also recommend to others, and expect that this experience was more about the growing pains of a new restaurant, rather than something that will prove to be systemic. Here's to hoping!
