We offer you freshest Sashimi, Sushi and various chef Specials in Japanese cuisine along with selected Sake, Shochu and wines to complete your meal. Izakaya Matsuri is located in the center of town- on Young St. with lots of free parking for our customers.
(*We do not provide highchairs, or baby seats for children since we are Japanese - Izakaya style restaurant which is mainly for adults.)
* Please, aware that your reservation may be cancelled if you do not confirm your reservation, please cancel your reservation within 12 hours prior to your reservation,
or you will be subject to charge the cancellation fee per person $30.

    The Hokkaido crab is amazing. I have never had that type of crab, so it was special and delicious. Sushi was fresh .

    Great food but they were out of the crab kamameshi dish which was the primary reason for going there! Food was great though especially the misoyaki sea bass!

    They charged incorrect number drinks. Also sashimi mori for 4 people was $240. It is Market price but they added uni and hotate without asking. So it costs more. I don’t know why they make mistake charge so much. We need to ask to fix it.

    I took my special friend to enjoy their Hokkaido crab, king clam and fresh oysters. They were amazingly fresh and the crab was to-die-for with kanimiso and light sauce. We didn't have to crack any shell. All we needed to do was reach with chopsticks and choose which sauce to use. I love their vegetables, too. We ordered pumpkin, eggplant and ong choy. Each was perfectly cooked and seasoned. To finish, we had spider roll. Very satisfying. I can always count on Matsuri to satisfy the people I take and myself. A piece of Japan on Young Street!

    It was our first time dining at Izakaya Matsuri and we truly enjoyed our food (great variety & options) & sake & beer, great service. We were very impressed by the men’s restroom; best one in Oahu! We will return again!

    I was craving for Omakase Chirashi and this place is my go to for the best. It’s loaded with all my favorite seafood and it looked amazing! The taste was on pointe with the freshest prime seafood, it was worth every penny. We’ll be back again…& again 😋😍

    Not inexpensive...BUT OH SO GOOD! Nice selection of Sake. The sushi was so fresh and absolutely melt in your mouth. Some of the fish is only available in Japan and is flown in. Uni was heavenly. Rolls Devine.

    Fresh sushi, excellent service, variety of sake, and home made desserts!! What more can you ask for? Make a reservation cause it’s a small restaurant. You can also order a fresh Hokkaido crab!! My favorite sushi spot!

    The place is very cozy and can be easily missed if one is not familiar with the area. This is our 5th time here since we discovered it while passing through Young street 3 years ago. It is one of our favorite sashimi/sushi spot and omakase. The food is made to order with fresh ingredients and seasoned perfectly. The sashimi melts in your mouth and the Hokkaido uni is so tasty that I could taste the ocean’s essence in it! The staff were attentive, friendly and made us feel special when they served our dessert with birthday decoration and a candle. Their menu has a variety of choices that can please any palate craving for authentic Japanese food. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant and we’ll be back again.

    second time in this restaurant, last time maybe 15 plus years with my old girlfriend. Cozy place and we sat on the sushi bar.. izakaya place with lots to choose from, although the nigiri is pricy, the quality is top notch with any other place in town. so not a problem unless you want larger portions. Might ne better to sick to izakaya dishes next time i go back. some look good to eat, maybe next time..
