   I was immediately seated early before my reservation time. I ate at the bar and found the bar staff attentive and friendly. My vodka martini was perfect. I ordered the 18oz bone-in ribeye and asked for medium rare plus. I’m not sure the server knew what that meant so I did my best to explain that it was to be slightly more cooked than medium rare but not all the way to medium. She said she understood. But when the streak came out it had a heavy char, slightly dry crust but was fairly underdone inside. My regret was I didn’t mention it and have her take it back but was so hungry I ate most of it anyway. I felt that being seared so much on the outside it would likely end up being burned which meant a complete do over. So that was the only issue.

   Truly exceptional service, food was great - compared to other steak restaurants we like in Omaha it wasn't better or worth the higher cost in every regard (quality, preparation, taste, rarity, etc.), except for the fact its in a very upscale setting. Perfect shrimp cocktail, Oysters Rockefeller were way smaller than any I've ever had around the US, and the charcutier board was fantastic. Ribs were great, served special as requested (no char); special 14oz strip was good (part of up-charged prix fixe menu ($72); bone-in ribeye was cooked perfectly - but we didn't enjoy its flavor (perhaps a marinade), and the seafood entre (had everything!) was perfectly cooked and delicious. Dessert was nice; again, compared to others we like, not a stand-out. We are very picky eaters - lots of experience dining out in Omaha (and other large cities in US) - I have nothing bad to say about this experience, some good, but as whole it didn't measure up to the expectations we had, our 1st time eating there - will be back to try (other items) again! Our server, Jordan, was the very best element of the meal - she was attentive, gave advice, and provided a wonderful expertise. Truly commendable.

   Everything is always consistently good here. I know when I go I am going to get a quality meal and they have mastered their food, drinks and service. I never have to wonder if my smoked old fashioned is going to taste different because I know it’s perfect every time. The entree is cooked to perfection. The service is top notch.    Prix Fixe is a great value - my husband and I both had the filet combo. Sides were delicious (we had mash potatoes, green beans and carrots). Although the salads were good (toppings were fresh and vibrant), the dressing was a big heavy on the house salad. I might ask for it on the side or half amount next time. We both got the flourless cake for dessert (mine to go). It was super rich and decadent. The raspberry ice cream on the side helped soften the richness. We've dined here a half dozen times and the service is always top notch. Very friendly, attentive but not overly so. We were there for our anniversary and they treated us to a champagne toast. Very enjoyable evening overall - would continue to go back.

    The $64 dollar bone in strip was extremely sinewy and in some instances gristly. Being borne and raised in Omaha I have expectations of melt in your mouth steak at such a price point. This was not the case in this instance .

    Our server, Jordan, was great, but the foods were just not up to par. I have visited J. Gilbert's in other states and have always had great experiences. But this time, the seafood were overcooked, the $720 aged in bone steak has a strange sweet season, and was not cooked to the temperature requested, even after the kitchen tried to threw it back on the grill. The filet mignons were chewy. The ribs were too burned. We were very disappointed since it was not a cheap meal. Management did comped one steak which we appreciated, and I hope they were just having an off day

    Our first time and it was fantastic. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere was very welcoming and comfortable. Our meal was ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. We will be returning next time we are in the area.

    We visited for our anniversary and when we looked at the bill noticed we did not get our drinks for the happy hour price when asked about it the waitress said she would see what she can do and the manager said no not sure why we could not get our few drinks at happy hour price since it was happy hour and we needed to be seated on tile floor or bar. We love this place and still will recommend but will also tell our story

    Dinner was excellent and our server Jackson was attentive and friendly. He was helpful and professional and reset the tone for our dinner after a rude reception at the front desk. Manager was rude when we arrived. I gave our name and reservation info multiple times but he was not listening, never made eye contact, and asked me repeatedly if we were with a different party but never listened to my response. Our reservation was for a standard table but none were available when we arrived. I was told we could take a booth or bar table. When I asked how long the wait would be for the standard table the manager snapped at us and said it would be a long time. Despite his unprofessional behavior and start to the evening we had a great meal. Jackson did an excellent job and the food was fantastic.

    The food, for the most part was excellent; something I’d expect from a high-end steak and seafood restaurant. The preparation of the steak was wonderful; the crab cake, good but not great. Creamed corn out of this world and the au gratin potatoes unique and tasty. Crab bisque also excellent. Deserts were OK but could have been better. The service was very good but due to the number of diners in the restaurant, it took considerable time to get appetizers then main courses. Entrees all came at once but appetizers did not. All in all a good experience but room for improvement. I’d go back but not before trying some of the other local venues.

    I put in my reservation that I was celebrating my birthday. This wasn’t acknowledged during my visit. My filet mignon was very salty and over seasoned, which was disappointing considering how expensive it is. The noise level was very high and I couldn’t hear any music playing, so I didn’t really enjoy the ambience of the place. The lobster Mac & cheese and bread were delicious. Overall I wouldn’t come back and I don’t think the quality of my food was worth the price.

    Overall it was a nice meal for my family and I. It is my wife's favorite restaurant in town so every holidays we like to go there and enjoy a good time. The drinks were great, appetizer was great and her salmon was great. I ordered the chef's special tomahawk in medium rare, but it came with 3 different temperatures throughout the steak from medium to medium well to well done.

    JGilberts it’s one of my favorite places to eat but last Sunday they were a mess. Let’s start by mentioning that I was seated on the bar area, I didn’t book that and the Mgr was careless about it even when there were tables available in the main salon. Then after the order was taken the waitress told us one of the ordered items wasn’t available, whole Fifteen minutes after the order was taken, but let’s move on. Plates were delivered to the wrong person at the table and we have to wait for them to change the side dishes of one of the plates. There’s more. The waitress dropped the leftovers of one of the plates all over my pants as she was cleaning the table and she never notify the mgr about it. Awful experience

    We eat here twice a month, and it is always a great time. Great ambiance with the different out of town hotel guests, that frequent the restaurant and you feel right in the action when events are going on at CHI Health Center.

    Our second time at J Gilbert's. This time was Mother's Day and taking advantage of the Prix Fix menu option. Food was exceptional and service was outstanding. This is one of the best new restaurants to open in Omaha recently. We highly recommend it.

    The food was fantastic, as usual. My wife had the halibut and I had a steak. Both were delicious. Silvia, our waitress was absolutely terrific. She helped us with our menu choices and was very attentive. We couldn't ask for a better dining experience.
