JaBistro Modern Japanese
JaBistro is a Japanese restaurant that is located in downtown Toronto, mere blocks away from Roy Thompson Hall and Nathan Phillips Square. The modern and sleek restaurant offers indoor as well as outdoor seating in the late spring and summer months. JaBistro is a contemporary space that is decorated with brick accent walls, booth style seating, sophisticated dim lighting and an oversized bar.
Guests of JaBistro enjoy the multitude of options available on the lengthy menu. Well-known choices include Salmon Oshizushi, miso soup, Kama, ebi Oshizushi and Wagyu Oshizushi. The restaurant offers lunch, dinner along with an impressive list of wine and drinks.
There weren’t many people in the dining room but for some reason service was really slow - it was quite hard to get attention of the servers although the restaurant didn’t appear to be understaffed at all.....Especially when paying for somewhat of a premium price in a Japanese restaurant, there’s a certain level of expectation to the service quality. Unfortunately we think they missed the mark this time.
I loved it! The sashimi is super fresh. All raw fish has a sweet taste in it. I will definitely come back.
Fantastic meal....great ambiance and decor. Chef-san and Junya-san took very good care of me. Freshness of fish was top notch. Both chu and o-toto simply melted in my mouth.
Sake selection was also very good. Was my first time dining @ JaBistro having walked by it numerous times. Will never walk by it again. Highly recommend and I’ll dine here, the next time I visit the Six
Good environment and service as usual, but the lobster platter seems not as good as 2 years ago. Still a nice restaurant for everyday dining, date or business as always
We expected rice and aka dashi miso soup in the menu. But not and a bit disappointed. But service and ambiance were excellent.
love it ! Very good and delicious
Good food, good service, atmosphere is bland with No windows, pricing is high for the experience
I absolutely love their aburi rolls. Please go thru all of them, they're delicious. Salmon and shrimp are my favourite.
Very authentic, but mordern Japanese restaurant with cool vibe and attentive services. The best Sushi in Town!
Unbelievable service, food and accommodations.
food is good
Amazing food, especially the lobster platter. A must try!
So, let me tell you this. You should come here to experience good food. Their jabistro roll is amazing, and nigiri sushi are literally our of this world. So, the food is extremely tasty.
However, if you want to get full, you will have to order many entries and spend a lot of money. I ordered a 77$ prix fixe menu, and by the end of it I felt like it was kinda enough thanks to the dessert. That being said, there was still enough space in me for some affordable all you can eat buffet even after a 5 course meal at this restaurant. What can I say, typical Japanese pricing...
We came for jabilicious but didn’t know there was an option to “preorder” specifically for the event. Turned out that someone had preordered all of 1 item on the menu and we weren’t able to try it.
Otherwise the food and service was good but I don’t think the value was amazing.
My go to place when I am in Toronto. One of my favorite sushi places anywhere!
Food was very fresh and delicious. Will definitely go back again.
We celebrated our anniversary at JaBistro this past weekend, food was everything we had expected. The black cod was especially amazing. Services were top-notch, you’re well taken care of when you’re there, they know exactly when to come ask if you need another drink and when to bring you the next course. Also, we asked the manager to take photos for us and he took almost 50 lol, super funny and lovely guy!
Wonderfully authentic, yet modern/stylish takes on everything. The Green Tea Mojito is must try!
Simply AMAZING, an experience you will not forget. The quality of food is amazing and service is pretty good too
Among the best sushi places in Toronto. Excellent food and service. It’s expensive but worth it. Highly recommend. Will return on my next trip.
fantastic service and high quality food! love it here and would definitely come back.
Love the fresh sushi
Dennis is literally the best - well, the entire team is the best but THANK YOU DENNIS! :) your attention to detail and personality makes the experience 💯💯💯
The freshest sushi I’ve had in the city. Can’t wait to go back.
Fresh food and a greeting desert.
They never disappoint, always on point with service and food. One time, we ordered the grill fish, and when the server walked by, she noticed the fish didn’t smell right, so she took it away and “comp” us with a fish upgrade. If you want to eat here during the weekend, you better have a reservation AND arrive on time, because they are that popular
Great place for a date
went there for my birthday. The sashimi is great.
We were so happy to find a Japanese restaurant open on New Years day! We all had the lunch special & enjoyed it, as it gave us a great sampling of the items on the menu. Everything was tasty & beautifully plated. The lunch special is good value & we would have it again. I have always liked the quiet, modern & pleasing atmosphere of the restaurant. Although I really enjoyed the beer from Ibaraki, it would liked to have had a wider selection fo Jpnse. beers to choose from. The service was always pleasant & good, but uneven, depending on the server. The identification of the dishes was a little fast, & the first server I asked about the Ibaraki beer never returned with an answer. I had to ask another server who fully responded to my questions.
Over hyped. Not worth the visit for the price. Will not be going back nor recommending this place
Sashimi are excellent, very fresh.
This place is always delicious! A bit on the noisy side, but we didn’t mind.
The best Sushi in Toronto with fantastic service and cool atmosphere. The fish quality for Sushi and Sashimi is superb, but the price is very reasonable. Highly recommended!
The sushi was among the best I’ve ever had, presentation, temperature and freshness were all on point
Service wasn’t good compared before.
Taking too long to serve alcohol.
Server doesn’t understand the menu.
Won’t be going there anymore.
it was great been here several times but found it overpriced this time. 3people for$310. Don’t feel like eating anything expensive but the bill was expensive . Suggest you to go to Kokyo Sushi at York. Food quality is much much better but the environment is nothing compare to ja bistro. But the food at Kokyo Sushi is the best....
We went for our anniversary. The food was amazing like always and they even prepared a special anniversary cake for us! Thank you so much and we will definitely come back soon.
Fantastic food, sake and service. Highly recommend the Kyukyoku.
I have been here a number of times and it has always been one of the best sushi places I have gone in the world. Totally Japanese staff which to me makes it a more authentic experience. Presentation amazing, top notch quality food and service!
The toro was awesome. :)
