   My tasting menu experience started off with a hair in my lobster soup. The second course was a platter of stale tasting sashimi. The third course was decent sushi pieces and the chef was so kind while serving. Dessert was whatever, vanilla ice cream with a watery matcha lava cake. Good sake pairing suggestion. I don't see how this place has such high reviews. I wouldn't recommend this place to experienced tasting menu diners, or those that have high standards for Japanese cuisine. To top it off, they "apologized" for the hair with a pretty sad discount of $2 😆. What!?!?! You may as well have not done anything at this point. Please, don't waste your money here 😊

   Great experience trying out JaBistro for the first time. Service was great providing coat check and servers were very friendly. Able to provide description and recommendations on the food they had to offer. Food itself was amazing, definitely one of the best sushi restaurants in Toronto. I would recommend this place to friends and family.

   My friend and I visited Toronto for a weekend and got this recommendation from a local. We came around 7pm before a show. The ambiance is breathtaking upon entry, and the friendly staff were warm and welcoming. Above all, the food is magnificent. The freshest tasting sushi! We both got the lobster miso soup, and sushi rolls. The sashimi platter was delicious. To top it all off, the chocolate lava cake with the white chocolate ice cream was out of this world. We will be returning to JaBistro and recommending this place to friends and family.

    This was a second visit. It was as good as we remembered. Everything was very fresh. The staff was excellent and very good with making recommendations. If you care about quality sushi, they are worth a trip.

    Service was very bad. We arrived <10 mins late, hostess made us wait another 10 for our reserved table. When we sat plenty of tables were around. Took another 15mins after sitting for waitress to come by and we had to ask for water. Unfortunately, I would not return.

    Order the 145$ prix fixe menu thought it will be good, but the food was too disappointing. It started with lobster soup, it looked and tasted awful, the one tiny lobster meat in the soup was soft and not fresh, with 145$ expect better than frozen lobster. Also the soup was simply chicken broth. Next the fish not fresh and sashimi in chunky size, unlike other professional thinly slice. nigiri & sushi, the rice taste like sticky rice. Anyways, I didn’t feel well after the meal. Overall bad, chef doesn’t care about the food quality or customer. Not recommend anyone to go unless they change the chef.

    this was my third time at jabistro and the food and drinks were great as usual, however our server did not meet our expectations. generally the servers here are great, but not this day. after we were seated by the bar by the hostess. the restaurant wasn’t that busy at the time but we waited for some time for a server to come by before we eventually asked the bartender if we order directly through him since no one else had come by. he advised he could take our drink order but our server (he points to his colleague standing beside him the entire time) can take our food order. our server didn’t greet us, introduce himself or speak about the menu to us so we just proceeded to order, then our server just turns around to punch the order in - again, he doesn’t say a word to us. my partner and i were confused but we tried to not let it bother us since the hostess and bartender were nice and friendly. we figured maybe the server was having a bad day or flustered or maybe there was a lack or organization as to who was responsible for our table. but we saw him speaking to other tables by the bar but he never came to serve us. our food was brought out and cleaned up by 5 different people. we didn’t know who to speak to to order additional items since there was a different person coming by each time. after we finished all our food and drinks, we waited for our server to come by so we could ask him for our bill, but again, no contact. we eventually asked the hostess for the bill, and then our server spoke to us for the first time that night when giving us our bill which was $400. it felt like a last ditch effort to put in some “customer service” when we pay to try and get a tip, but by then, we were already dissatisfied with the service and didn’t feel right to tip over their 18% minimum set tip. i would have had no issues tipping well over that amount if the service as great, but we felt forgotten and neglected especially when we were trying to celebrate a special occasion.

    Fantastic experience overall. Multiple aburi sushi plates were excellent quality, great diversity of options. Non-sushi options were also very good. Excellent service, didn’t rush us when we wanted to take our time to order, ambience was casual and lively. Will definitely return.

    Went for dinner for my husband’s birthday. Jabistro is a favourite of ours so we try to go at least once a year for a special occasion. The service was great as it always is. Our waters were always topped up in a timely manner, the food came out in perfect sequence, empty plates were cleared very quickly and our server checked up on us just enough. The quality and value of sushi is one of the best in the city in our opinions, hence why we prefer it over other sushi restaurants. They came out with “happy birthday” written on the dessert plate, which is greatly appreciated as some restaurants have missed it when inputted in the reservation special requests

    We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it was perfect! The food was outstanding, and the service was just as good. It’s definitely not for those who prefer sushi rolls, or pseudo sushi…this is the real deal. The sashimi was amazing…

    Food was good, but served WAY too slow, one dish at a time, for a group of 5, in no particular order. We had one person served their main within 10 minutes of ordering, then waited 30 minutes for their appetizer, and others who didn’t get any of their food until the rest of the group was finished eating - the whole thing just made no sense. For the price that this place charges, things need to be majorly improved with the service.

    High quality japanese food. The flavours of the food was very indepth and definitely one of the best that Toronto has to offer. It compares with the higher end places that other international japanese restaurants have to offer. I found that the value for Jabistro to be very good for what they offer. A definite recommend and will return in the future.
