    the last time I was here was in 2017, but the food and service was just as good as it was before from the second I walked in to the second I left. everything was meticulous, upscale, and efficient without all the pretentiousness of other $$$$ places. food came out quickly, servers picked up dirty plates and filled cups promptly, and the staff generally conducted themselves with an air of professionalism and grace. this is a place I will frequent until I move, or die :)

    Very overpriced with largely small portions, 400% wine markup, and untrained staff. There are so many amazing sushi restaurants in this city that are superior.

    We had the prix fixe menu and every course was delicious! The service was friendly and attentive. We chose to sit at the sushi counter and we were amazed at the care and detail that was put into item they created. I would highly recommend for special occasions or to try something new.

    4 grownups, 50ml of sake, 1 large sashimi, 3 orders of sushi, 1 order of fish collar. More than $500. Left feeling hungry. This place use to be a better sushi place in downtown Toronto. Too bad the price doubled.

    Such a delicious meal! Service was great and the ambience was perfect for our date night. We sat at the sushi bar and got to watch all of the skilled chefs prepare our meal. Highly recommend.

    How effective are the reviews you read from people who visited the same place several times? To me they are of outmost importance, if they are honest, they monitor the heartbeat of the place, and reflect on any changes. It was probably tenth visit this year and despite some new faces, the quality of the experience is only getting better. Jabistro is the place where the wholistic experience is as vital as the individual components, the food, the service, the ambience, and of course the meticulous efficiency. The bartender's passion (for the mixology), evident in his sublime creations, is shared by the chefs and the rest of the staff. We didn't opt for the preset menu, though it is on our list, we started the lobster miso soup, an elegantly unique dish in all Toronto. Then we went for the large lobster sashimi platter, followed by the extra wagyu sushi, and a delight for the teens, fried chicken with a magic coleslaw salad. While freshest sashimi was expected, and wagyu was to die for, the chicken was greatest surprise with tenderness and overall pallet never tasted before. Once again - a sublime experience. The bartender we will miss, he is leaving for the new chic Neo Coffee Bar on Spadina to create nuvo-style Japanese cocktails (owned by the same Kinka Family), yet we will be back for that magic feeling that brings our family together. It is official now, Jabistro joined our family's short list of the "family" restaurants. Thank you Jabistro.

    The service from the only server in the restaurant was excellent however since she is the only one, she cannot get to refill water and offer further drinks often. Sashimi pieces was smaller than the normal size, fatty tuna has a fishy taste, the rice on the torched sushi was very thick so ratio not appropriate for the size. Dessert was excellent however the edible flowers were bitter so not a good experience. Sake was fresh tasting so excellent, scallops and salmon were very sweet, doesn't need soy at all. cheese dish was very good. Room for improvement.

    We have been to Ja Bistro a few times and it is not the cheapest place . But especially this time I found the smallest pieces of sashimi I have ever had and it almost felt that as if the main pieces were cut in half . I normally do not complain Re the price if the food is good and adequate. But this time I felt they are over prices for what they offer.

    I came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary and I would come back here again. We both got the fixed price dinner and it was amazing. The amount and quality of food you get for the price is extremely worth it. The service is also amazing and I recommend the bar seats to view the chefs.

    The food was not as I expected. The sushi ordered was all seared on top which made everything taste the same. I was really disappointed but the service was pleasant.

    We had a wonderful meal with friends. This was my wife's first time eating sushi/sashimi and she loved it. The bar for another experience like this is set very high.

    Some of the best sushi I have had anywhere. The Akami, Chu-toro, and O-toro were out of this world good. The lobster miso soup was a great start to the meal. Sashimi appetizer was a great addition to the meal.

    Fresh sushi, good service though the gentleman server seemed to have a smile pasted on his face. Disappointing was the very few choices of Maki or rolls, only one at $23. Overall I will return, however not for maki.

    My first lunch, and the timing was important. Pre-set menu offers a great value, but we decided on a-la-cart to limit a number of courses. There really was no need, the food started arriving in 12 minutes, not bad when the place was 90% full. The wagyu aburi and uni were amazing; sashimi platter had 8-9 types of fish, you can see how fresh it was, melting in the mouth.. fresh wasabi and house special soy sauce, and sea salt, really enriched the flavor. We were done in 50 minutes, but took extra time to enjoy the cool atmosphere over the tea. Unlike in the evening, we had only one servant and she covered so much ground, always keeping eyes on the customers. Fantastic experience all together; thank you the Team!

    Outstanding food with great service. Some of the best sushi in Toronto. I come every year during TIFF at least twice. I lived in Japan, and this place is authentic and classy. Great place for a business dinner.

    From the moment we walked in and every moment in between our dinner, every staff member was friendly and attentive with refilling our water and replacing our used dishes for the next course. It was a special experience celebrating our anniversary at the same spot we dined at years ago and their wonderful service made it even more memorable. I highly recommend JaBistro and we will be back!

    Horrible experience. I never, ever write reviews but this was ridiculous. The only ok dish was the carpaccio. We brought our own wine (they offer corkage) and asked for the wine to be brought to our table 4 times, we ended up not getting it before our food was finished. We complained about the quality of 3 dishes and nothing was taken off the bill when we ate a bite of things. $450 bill. I would have had a better meal at an AYCE spot.
