Jack Astor's - St Catharines
In all seriousness, we take real pride in our food. Try our Cluckin’ Fresh Chicken Fingers, made and seasoned with fresh, never frozen chicken tenders. This isn’t run-of-the-mill pub grub. Our Band of Chefs are influenced by a wide variety of tastes and have travelled across the globe to gain inspiration.
But outside of the kitchen, we find it hard to take ourselves seriously. We have an Elvis booth. For no particular reason. Folks, that really does say it all. We’re sports fanatics, music nuts and love a good joke. If you’re into at least one of those things, we should hang out.
Very nice friendly place, good food, very enjoyable evening, Thank you! ( and they serve Guinness!)
Calamari was meh. Chicken fajitas really good. Table service but server lovely
Second time I've been to your establishment.
Amazing both times.
We love your cheddar beer soup, my husband and I both had it.
Our group had a couple steaks, said it was the best they ever had.
Your portions are always very generous, and you staff is one of the most friendly and attentive o have ever had the pleasure to see.
It was a little loud but it was also a Saturday night dinner service, and the place was packed.
Jack Asters is a nice place to eat. We have eaten there a lot. I have never had to reserve and thought with reserving a table we would not be stuck by the door, which is exactly where they stuck us. BY THE DOOR. There was always people coming in and out. Talking. Food was good though. I would suggest that if someone reserves early, like the day before like we did, they should have a better table.
Appetizer platter was decent, husband ordered steak which wasn’t very good, I ordered fish & chips which were overcooked. Entrees came out way too quickly, we were less than half finished our appetizers. We were there New Year’s Eve around 5:30. We were done and out the door within 45 minutes.
My favourite spot to eat. The food is great, the service is fast and friendly.
Just ok, nothing great. Food was very expensive for what you actually get. Not enough vegetarian selections.
Unfortunately it was not a great experience. We usually go at least twice per month because of convenience but may not return after this experience.
We sat at our table for an extended period of time while 3 tables (that were seated after us) were all approached by servers and orders taken. I had to ask a server passing by to assist us.
Then our order came to the table with wrong side items items plated. Thirdly we had to ask for utensils and condiments (again waiting to start eating) and to top it off the ketchup bottle was empty!
For the cost of dinner at this restaurant for an adult and child I expect better service overall.
Wait staff were really nice. Food was great. Would definitely recommend.
The menu has changed and the food (portion size is just not worth the price).
Waitress was amazing!!!
BUT very disappointed in the Menu - way to limited - ZERO choices
and pricey for what it is offered
We went to Jack's for a family birthday. Food was good and the service was exceptional! Highly recommend Jack's for special occasions as they make it really fun
Menu has limited choices and very little for calorie watchers. Food was ok nut generally overpriced for the options. Server not great as we had to ask her to take empty plates from table.
Always friendly staff and good food. Price wise I would expect 20-30 a person.
We sat back in the corner by the bar, so we got serviced by the 2 bartenders. They were unbelievable. It was our anniversary and they were friendly, funny and gave us great service. The food was awesome. We really did have a great experience. Thanks, Guys
Sat on the patio which was really nice. Our server was very nice. Food was ok.
My family and I really enjoyed our meals there. Also, our server was very nice.
In area overnight and had a coupon so decided to eat here. We were seated right away and treated like we were the only people in the restaurant. Service was excellent as was the food. However, parking was a nightmare.
We were excited to finally get to try this Jack Astor's. We had come twice before and couldn't get in. Once they were closed for a private function and the second time they were closed for renovations. This is why we tried the Open Table to make sure they were open and to make reservations. But we were disappointed by the menu. We went on-line to check out the menu but it was not available at the restaurant. The menu seemed very limited and did not offer half the items that we had seen on-line. If we had seen the real menu we would not have gone. The service was good and our waitress was very nice. We were just disappointed at the lack of choices and the food itself did not measure up to other Jack Astor's.
Fun atmosphere. Great beer on tap.
The music is way too loud. Could hardly talk to the people at the table.
I find the prices to be a bit high, no specials either
They did not have our reservation through open table when we arrived, but were thankfully able to seat us right away.
Food was OK and service was good, but I would probably not recommend to the older crowd. The music was not to our liking. Young people would probably be fine with it.
Excellent service. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
Food was good very fresh.
Arrived at time reserved and was told they were busy and they couldn't honor the reservation and we could go onto a wait list instead. Went elsewhere.
My son picked this restaurant for his birthday dinner. I made a reservation for 7 people several days in advance. Unfortunately they gave away our table minutes before we got there (we were even a bit early) but they were able to find another spot for us. It was in a high traffic area, with high seats and not much room but we made it work. The food was good but took quite a while to come out. They messed up one order but were very quick to find it and offered multiple times to replace it. They were very good with my son, for his birthday song. He is autistic and wasn't happy with the noise of the singing so they lowered their volume and finished quickly. I was very appreciative of their consideration. Overall it was a good meal, with just a few hiccups. Thanks for a good night
Thanks Jack Asters for an amazing time as we celebrated our daughter going off to army cadet camp for 6 wks
We visited Jack Asters on Canada day The food was so great we came back for more
Great food....our server Emma was fantastic. She was right on top of drinks and getting our food to us hot! And the manager compted our bill because he felt we had waited to long...that was totally unnessecary but great!!
Good food and we'll rounded menu....great for families with young ones!
Kevin always makes us feel welcome and the food is always excellent! Jack's in St. Catharines has remained a favourite restaurant with our family over the past 20 years. Renovation makes it that much better now. Well done.
We waited at the the door to be greeted for more then 3 minutes.
The service was incredibly slow, and 2 drinks were forgotten (which were presented on the final bill).
Our server didn't really seem like she was paying attention the entire meal. It took 3 tries for her to get my dates Greek salad right and she kept forgetting to bring us refills, I know it was Valentine's Day and it was kind of busy but still there's no excuse for that lack of attention to detail. Once the food was made right though it was fantastic. I would HIGHLY recommend the guacamole as an appetizer, it was fantastic.
I was glad that I was able to make reservations on line and was taken in right away. My waitress was very friendly, the food was good, the only problem I had was with the Caesar salad. The salad was very plain and I only had one crouton in it. I never had to wait to look for the waitress for another drink. If I am ever in St. Catherine's again, I will be sure to come back to this restaurant.
Started off bad because may have been confusion with hostess and waitresses because after getting our table no one spoke to us or looked at us for over 10minutes. I saw a manager walking past and just asked him if he could look into who our server was and he promptly got us our drinks and from that moment we had such a great night . Our waitress Kim was incredible and sweet and went above and beyond. We both hadn't been to jack astors in a year so this was our first experience in the "new" set up and menu and we loved it !!!
Great night! We enjoyed being part of the grand opening. Our servers were excellent. Very attentive. And management staff came around and checked on us quite a few times. We'll be back!
Excellent dinner. The manager was amazing and very accommodating
