Jack Stack Barbecue originated in Kansas City in 1957, by Russ Fiorella in a traditional storefront barbecue, with a modest selection of 5 or 6 items. Jack Fiorella, the eldest son, worked with his father until 1974 when he decided to branch off and start Fiorella's Jack Stack of Martin City.

To stand out in the competitive KC barbecue scene of the mid 1970's, Jack and Delores, began cooking with Gourmet Hickory Wood and created the most extensive barbecue menu in the country. The menu included Certified Angus Beef steaks, tender chicken, award-winning lamb ribs, and mouth-watering sides like Hickory Pit Beans and Cheesy Corn Bake.

    We had a 7:15 reservation, had one quality front desk greeter and one miserable greeter. The answer was the same, you were running behind on reservations, the delivery was terribly different. The bad experience tried to pressure us to accept an outdoor patio with heated lamps. She kept making our wait to be our problem with no end in sight. The other offered the patio and yet understood we didn’t want that. The good greeter had blonde hair. I thanked when we left last night. Another trouble spot for you is your bar tenders. Obviously you have a tough time finding someone to tend bar. The curly blonde behind the bar has no energy, no smile, moves slow, no eye contact, reacts negative when customers try to engage. You lost a lot of alcohol sales. I reluctantly gave her a tip. The conversation around the bar was how could Jack Stack allow this to exist. I will mark yes below as I am longtime customers. I do expect y’all to fix these service issues.

    Jack Stack is such a staple for us & it never really disappoints. The only thing that made our experience a little disappointing was id put in the special request to get Happy Birthday on my husbands dessert. We ordered and I mentioned it was his bday but it didn’t arrive with it. The dessert was comped so that was a nice surprise but it took away from the surprise a little. Otherwise, a good night.

    We made reservations online and when we got to the restaurant, it was packed but our table was waiting for us. This was our first visit, and our waiter helped us make some great food and drink choices. In spite of it being so crowded our drinks came very quickly followed by our delicious food. The efficiency was very impressive in this large restaurant and I can’t say enough good about it. I wish we lived in town so we could visit more often.

    Jack Stack is my first choice for out-of-town guests who are looking for “the best BBQ”! Last night was no exception, and the whole experience was perfect. The food is always excellent!

    Jack Stack is a great place. This time we asked for the salmon to be med well/well and they all came out med rare/rare. They took one off the bill, but being lunch we couldn't wait and two of us just partook anyway and kept those on the bill. Just need to get that down and it's solid 5 stars per usual. Thanks -- Still would recommend, just one of those things and hopefully only one time.

    There is no better Kansas City barbecue than Jack Stack. The food is consistently great, the service is the best. This is one of the most well managed businesses I know of.

    Our server was friendly, courteous, prompt and knowledgeable. The noise level was not too bad for a Thursday night. We could hear each other which was fine. The food was, as always, excellent! We had a reservation (I highly recommend you have one) and were seated promptly even though our entire party had not yet arrived.

    We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant and seated immediately. The ambiance was warm and welcoming . The food was delicious and served in a timely manner. Overall it was a good dining experience.

    My server was Josh Fender and he was very attentive. I ordered the beef burnt ends and baby back ribs combo. The food was outstanding. The ambiance at this location is memorable. I would highly recommend.

    Food was great, service questionable. There were several empty tables around, yet our table of five was made to feel somewhat rushed and not offered the opportunity to order desserts, which we would have had they been offered. Overall experience acceptable but suboptimal.

    Never disappoints always fully satisfied! In our opinion, this is the absolute best barbecue in Kansas City and our favorite location. It’s where we come for most of our special occasions it has become a family tradition.

    After a family weekend in Lawrence KS We had to get to Jack Stacks Feighthouse before returning to Minneapolis and Wisconsin. We just can’t get good burnt ends anywhere else! We were not disappointed! And The Smokin’ Russ sandwich was stellar!

    Had a reservation and was seated 30 minutes past. Made reservations for 5 with me person with a disability but was put at a table made for 4. Asked to move but the front host was rude about moving to an empty table. They finally let us move but said we had to be done eating in 45 minutes because that table had a reservation. The waiter was excellent but over all I will not be bring guest in from out of town after this experience. Too many other good BBQ places to put up with this type of service.

    I entertained 13 people who ordered various selections from the menu Friday after Thanksgiving. The food did not have a smoked flavor nor did it taste fresh. I would venture to say my selections had been microwaved! Jack Stack was once a staple of true Kansas City BBQ. Judging from my last experience that time has passed.

    We were there at 7pm on a Friday night and the service and food was amazing; Logan's attention to detail and love of cooking is very evident in the high quality meal we received. Will definitely be back to this location versus other locations in the metro. Loved the vibe of Freight House the most.

    The waiter was great until the food was brought then he was missing. When it came time for the check it didn’t get divided the way we asked he said he would fix it and never came back. Left with feeling we had been forgotten.

    Excellent food and service. The appetizer fried mushrooms are ENORMOUS as well as delicious. We got the Pit Master to share. So much food for such a great price. Love it!

    Very good BBQ best in KC in my opinion. Service is always on point. Not going to say anything about price as I believe that is based on you to know what a price point should be. Just enjoy your experience.

    Probably our go to BBQ in KC. We typically get a platter to try multiple meats. Ended up taking as much home as we ate. Everyone needs to eat here atleast once! If you do, you'll be back.

    The food was far from what we expected. Pork burnt ends were pretty sorry. They had very little resemblance to burnt pork as it was very pale and only slight color on one side. The beef burnt ends looked and tasted like overcooked Chuck roast. Very dry and very little of that. All in all, I’ll pass on ever visiting again. There is much better in KC.
