Jack Stack Barbecue originated in Kansas City in 1957, by Russ Fiorella in a traditional storefront barbecue, with a modest selection of 5 or 6 items. Jack Fiorella, the eldest son, worked with his father until 1974 when he decided to branch off and start Fiorella's Jack Stack of Martin City.

To stand out in the competitive KC barbecue scene of the mid 1970's, Jack and Delores, began cooking with Gourmet Hickory Wood and created the most extensive barbecue menu in the country. The menu included Certified Angus Beef steaks, tender chicken, award-winning lamb ribs, and mouth-watering sides like Hickory Pit Beans and Cheesy Corn Bake.

A great place for BBQ! Excellent food service. Our server was really helpful. The place rocks with country-casual vibe. Folks from all parts of our diverse country. Large parties of bikers to parties drinking great wine.(Stags Leap), scattered with an assortment of gray hairs (myself included) to young folks. We had the pork ribs and the burnt ends. Slaw is slightly sweet and onion rings are large sized with a crispy batter that has a little cornmeal in the crust. Everything cooked just right.

The Burnt Edges and Pork Ribs were DELICIOUS, seasoned perfectly and "melt in your mouth" tender! The Cornbread was one of the BEST that I have ever eaten. The only negative was that our server accidentally used our credit card for another patron's meal instead of our own. The manager had to rectify the situation...

Our waiter was outstanding - delightful, helpful - didn't miss a beat. The outside patio has little to no ambience - must say.... Wish we had eaten inside (which has lovely ambience :) The pork spareribs were outstanding - my burnt ends were not the best. But, a good waiter saves the day.

It was a very enjoyable dinner. The food was excellent, as was the service. The carrot cake was out of this world I highly recommend reservations. We had made a reservation for 630. We arrived a bit early and got seated early. Others without reservations were being told it would be an hour.

The food, as always, was wonderful...that is after I finally got the correct order.It took forever to get the first order, then when it came it was wrong. Our waiter, Ian, never came back to check on things until it was time to bring the check. We come there often and had never had this kind of service. He seemed young and new and really needs to be coached.

Our server (young guy with a pompadour and beard with full sleeve tattoos) was exceptional; I wish I remembered his name - he was professional, friendly, and attentive. On a side note, he was also was able to get a hold of us before we left, as our younger daughter left her camera in the booth. The latter was very gracious as we were heading to the airport. Our food was absolutely delicious and this is a beautiful restaurant. My husband had the burnt bits and ribs and I had the Southern Jack. Our oldest had the BBQ chicken and our youngest had the chicken tenders. The jalapeño cornbread and cole slaw were super tasty. Thanks for making our first KC BBQ experience tasty and wonderful.

We took brisket ends, creamy potatoes and big mushrooms. All was great, brisket ends were a bit dry. I ate the same thing in their other location at the Plaza and it was moist and delicious. Overall, will come again, great experience, music, food and excellent service.

We live in KC so we know good BBQ. Jackstack is okay but not the best our city has to offer. Tourists flock here bc of the hype but we encourage others to choose genuine KC BBQ that does not use cloth napkins.
