Amazing food and friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful setting in the old town overlooking a nice plaza with lots going on. Perfect to have an evening walk after dinner in the prettiest part of town. Very good Italian wine selection and amazing charcuterie boards to share. Definitely recommend!!!
Our server John was fantastic!!
We had a nice experience at Jacopo. It is in the old part of the city which can be touristy...but then again, we are tourists! We sat outside under a canopy which was nice to have when the rain came in. The service was good and the food was good but not anything I haven’t had before. Simple pastas that I have made at home. My kids enjoyed watching the street performers from where we were sitting and the noise level went down once they were done for the night at 10:30pm.
Finally a decent spot to eat in Place Jacques cartier
Meghan is extraordinary! Will definitely come back.
Loved the atmosphere and the food the manager made sure we were well taken care of will definitely return
Excellent experience overall! Enjoyed Italian food in the best location in old Mtl! Definitely recommend.
Apparently they had a problem in the kitchen and mains took forever. In then meantime, the waiter did not ask if we wanted more to drink or even fill up the water glasses.
The manager eventually came around to apologize and supplied a small cheese app for the table until the mains showed up.
Nice place but still needs a bit of fine tuning. Getting our (reserved in advance) table was kind of messy. We were first ignored by the host at the terrasse, then once inside the girl didn't seem to find our reservation. Then a busgirl almost ran into us and didn't even notice/apologize. The wine list is great and our waiter was very friendly. We really enjoyed our plate of burrata & proscuitto. However, my Caccio e peppe pasta was WAY too salty (it's one of my favorite dishes and I know pecorino cheese can be salty, but this was over the top). I told the busboy who cleared out plates but never heard of it again. I feel like the place has good potential, but I wouldn't go back before a couple of months. Missing that ''welcoming/authentic Italian touch''.
Nous avons mangé sur la terrasse. Bon service de Pénélope, jamais bousculé, service rapide. 3 plats différents... Succulent.
Sat at the bar and our bartender was first rate. Food ... two different pasta dishes and both were excellent. We'd go again there again on a revisit of Montreal.
Very good Italian, great option to late dinner, after the cirque du soleil of the lumiere show at notre dame. Fresh pasta and great wines. The service is also very good.
The restaurant was beautiful and overall ambiance as well, however the food was very small portions for the price paid, the service was very long and the waitress didn’t know a lot about her menu. At least we were recommended some good wine, but overall I would not recommend this restaurant to a friend.
Was there for a 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend.
Service was impeccable from hostess to busboy to waiter.
Food was impeccable as well
Ambience: We were on the terrasse which was quite nice! The terrasse isn't too tightly packed and we were in front of an open window, so we had some light AC blowing our way :) Everyone was just enjoying the beautiful weather, so it was great.
Food: Their happy hour special is nice: buy a pitcher of sangria or aperol spritz and get a small platter of charcuterie (for us, it was mortadella, cheese and chive spread, sun-dried tomatoes and croutons).
The family appetizer had mostly hits: the burrata/tomatoes, prosciutto, fried calamari (the batter was quite light and crispy), while the suppli al telefono (it was quite bland) and the scarola salad were ok. We also ordered the grilled calamari which was pretty good.
I ordered the pappardelle al cinghiale - wild boar ragu, since they ran out of the ravioli, but it came out as if they'd just broken up a wild boar sausage (it was like ground meat) and added the pappardelle. There was no sauce, and was a bit dry, but the pappardelle itself was really fresh.
My friends ordered the cacio e pepe, the orechiette and the polpo. They all said they enjoyed it, but none of them raved over their dishes.
A good thing, however, is that the wine list was really reasonable - about half the reds were under 80$!
Overall, I would go back for a happy hour on the terrasse and maybe some small bites.
I really liked the food and the service but there was so much noise, and the terrace wasn’t open...
We had a nice experience eating on the lovely terrasse at Jacopo. It was a family reunion of sorts, with relatives coming from Stockholm.
It was an ideal setting to eat with 4 adults and 2 children aged 10--lots of people watching on Place Jacques Cartier at this busy time of year, and with the sunset rendering Hotel de Ville beautifully. Our waiter was very charismatic and solicitous. The drinks were good, and the carbonara pasta dish was excellent, but the beef ragout pasta was quite bland. The main critique, though, is that the meal was a bit rushed. I do understand the difficulty of pacing during high season, and the assumption that children will tire early; but as it was, we felt quite rushed--so much so that I'd barely had 3 sips of my cocktail before my main course arrived, which I did wish my cocktail to accompany (and had explicitly said so when I placed my order, which specified a specific wine to go with my meal). And we felt quite rushed out at the end--I had to gulp down the last of my food and drink.
Service impeccable et tous nos plats étaient succulents.
Great terrace. Really enjoyed lunch and a pitcher of aperol spritz! The porchetta sandwich, however, is basically a ham sandwich- not real porchetta. Anyway, it was tasty.
While the location and atmosphere can't be beat the food is lacking! The pasta dishes my sons ordered where good although small for the price but the fish was dry and the rice was sticky and not cooked properly! Disappointing for $150 for three people. This included one drink and one glass of wine!!!
Eric was our waiter and we couldn't have asked for better . His attention to detail was impeccable and he made us feel very at ease. Food was excellent however I would put more rapini in the orechiette dish . Overall I will come back . Well done to the team !
On place Jacque-Cartier in the old-port. Loved the all Italian curated wine list. A brand new restaurant in a historic building. Perfect for meetings dates or events. Food was amazing. Thanks Jonathan for your service! Ciao
P.S. a well kept secret... they have a valet through their hotel William Grey.
We arrived @7:30pm and only got our meals @9:15pm... otherwise food was good and the waiter did the best he could while waiting for the kitchen to cook our dinner. Probably won’t come back.
I took advantage of a sunny afternoon to have lunch with a friend on the terrace. Our waitress was friendly but unable to pronounce bruschetta (which was very good btw) properly. So please management, if you are going to go to the effort of writing your menu in Italian then please have the staff learn to properly pronounce the items on the menu. So instead of "broo-shetta" try "broo-sketta". Also cannoli is never spelled with an "s" in the plural form. Un cannolo, due cannoli. So you might want to make that correction on your menu. Now for the food. My friend and I both ordered the Panzanella. I thought the tomatoes were quite fresh and tasty but the waitress asked if I wanted Parmigiano on my salad. Mamma mia! Next I ordered the Orecchiette con Rapini e Salsiccia. It was good despite the fact that I thought the Orecchiette resembled more Conchiglie than the traditional Pugliese pasta. So perhaps not an accurate description of the dish. My friend ordered the fish of the day which was rainbow trout. A generous portion served with risotto, my friend quite enjoyed it. I understand that your resto is quite new and that you might still be making adjustments. Perhaps my expectations were too high but I was hoping for a more authentic Italian experience. I think with a bit of tweaking, some Italian language lessons for the staff and a few corrections on the menu, Jacopo could be a great addition to the Old Montreal dining scene and to Italian restos in Montreal in general. So despite a few let-downs, I will give it a second chance. Ci vediamo presto!
