   We had the sizzling chow mein. It was delicious and really sizzling!! The mussels were delicious too. Our server was Payton and she was helpful with food selections and very pleasant.

   What a wonderful and interesting building for a restaurant. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Our waiter was helpful and friendly. We would recommend everyone to come and enjoy the historic building and great food. Winnipeg should be very proud and supportive to have such an establishment to showcase.

   I guess I was a little disappointed in some of the food. The appetizers were good (perogies & chicken & beef tacos). The cauliflower was a little undercooked as well as the broccoli in my main dish, the Dan Dan Thai. Our friend’s chow menu was average, lots of noodles & would be nice if the dish was better mixed together. My son enjoyed his chicken snitzel & hubby liked his pork sandwich though. The ladies enjoyed their cocktails & the beer was cold! The staff was great though & I enjoyed the ambience. Thanks again. Ally

   The food is very mediocre, and not great value. Very cool ambiance, but they need to improve their quality of food before we’d go back. Even the curly fries were bland.

    We booked a high top table which had us seated in their bar area. The atmosphere was good and it was cool to see the old Pumphouse machinery as well as all of the heritage touches to the space. It was a Monday evening and the place was packed. The location of the table had us right in the path of the servers which continually rocked our table with the bounce in the floor. Both Pumphouse beers were good as well as the specialty cocktails. The Med Bread was loaded with toppings and flavour and so were the braised beef tacos. The mussels were so tasty and the naan dipped in the sauce was good too. The side of fries was a bit odd (would’ve preferred them as Belgian style frites).

    Location is great - historically contemporary. I appreciated the building / mechanical history on the inside of the liquor and dessert menu. I really appreciated the ample bag / jacket hooks in the high-top table area. Food was really good, especially the mussels and Medi flatbread. Service was friendly, happy, personal. Thanks for having lots of local beers!

    The pad Thai was very flavourful and a reasonable portion. The cauliflower dish is delicious with good crunch! Don’t miss out on the carrot cake! It’s amazing

    We ordered the plant based soy ginger cauliflower bowls. No edamame on either one. Still delicious but not what we paid for. Kind of disappointing since otherwise no protein in the meal.

    Dinner was great, venue was beautiful. I found the reservation system annoying. I originally booked for 2 people for 7pm. I went in my reservation to modify it and add an extra person and the system told me I could only do 3 people from 8:30pm or later. That was too late so I went back to my original reservation and didn’t bring the third person. When we got to the restaurant they sat us at a table with 4 chairs. Not sure why I wasn’t able to switch my reservation to 3 people when the restaurant didn’t even have 2 person tables. All were 4 or more.

    Nice atmosphere. Fabulous drinks. Met friends for dinner. When seated they told us we had our table from 4-6:30. Then close to 5:45 we were being very rushed to clear table, pay etc. We kindly checked again to see how long we had the table for, because it was very obvious we were being rushed out. We were then told the table was booked at 6:00. We politely explained our misunderstanding and got out quickly. It was a bit unexpected. I had wanted to try the dessert but sadly was not even offered a dessert menu. And apparently had run out of time to do so. Perhaps next time….

    The James Avenue Pumphouse offers a unique dining experience. We went for a girls day out and the food was great, the service was wonderful and it was very interesting dining in the centre of a piece of Winnipeg’s rich history. I will definitely be going back!

    First time being here and I must say I will be back. The food was very good. I had the Dan Dan Noodles. The drinks were also very good and the happy hour menu is fantastic. I love that they were able to restore a little piece of history and turn in to something fun.

    We got there and it was utter chaos. Parking in that area is a mess. I’ll agree it’s not the restaurants fault. It took us 40 minutes to find parking. The hostess told us that we have two hours max. That is also understandable on a Friday night. As soon as we sat down the fire alarm went off and for half an hour, nobody knew how to shut it off. even the firemen couldn’t figure out what to do. Meanwhile, in that ear piercing alarm noise, the server kept telling us that there’s nothing to worry about. There was a malfunction of the kitchen ventilation hood in the kitche, which caused the alarm to trip. 40 minutes into it. We were told the restaurant is closing down because there is a gas leak. So after spending an hour and a half we had to leave the restaurant with no food and no service.
