    Waiters efficient and friendly. I would have preferred a broth rather than a spaghetti-like sauce for my beef dip sandwich. It tasted ok without anything so I left it at that. The chicken and burger got good reviews from my friends. We were there on a weekday at 1 and the place was very quiet but the hard surfaces would make this a noisy restaurant when busy I would guess. The highlight for me was the history and all the cool old things on display.

    First time here. Great service and amazing food. We shared the braised beef tacos with birria dip...um, no words, so tender and flavorful. Shocked me they were so good. Great amount of food. My mum had the sizzling chow mein and I had the chili coconut mussels. Both of us had leftovers, which is always a great thing. For what you received, good price. Vibe is nice, comfy and lively, we'll be back.

    We had made a reservation and I had asked for a regular table but we were placed at a high table in front of the bar right where the staff and bar patrons and outside table patrons were walking . My husband asked to be moved and we were placed at a night table against the wall which was better. Food was great and so was service. My daughter whose birthday we were celebrating was happy :)

    I had ordered the fish and chips. The fish may have been in the deep fryer a bit longer than it should've and at a lower temperature than it should've but it was so good my partner enjoyed the chickpea curry. The Nonsuch microbrewery beer I had was enjoyable as was the carrot cake, dessert. We had a very friendly and attentive server.

    So good! The food here is delicious, feels like the menu items were designed with care to maximize flavour. The curly fries with snow cheese are absolutely to die for.

    We went during happy hour...really helped with the overall bill, which was great for the amount of food and drinks we had! Our waitress was excellent too. Was our first time there and will definitely go back!

    The food and drinks were excellent. It was quite loud but thats to be expected with high ceilings and high energy. My girlfriend and I had a great time and will be back. My only disappointment was the lack of sharable appetizer options.

    Interesting space with clear view of the old Pumphouse equipment, some of which dates back to to the early 1900’s. Cocktails were nicely done and the wine list is extensive. Diverse menu with something for everyone The Thai inspired noodle bowl was scrumptious The fish and chips were a bit disappointing but to be fair, my spouse could have sent the over-cooked fish back. Would definitely recommend

    A fantastic place for a meal. The ambience of the pump machinery will truly excite any steam punk enthusiast. The food selection is nicely varied. Service was very professional. My only wish would be access to parking as construction trucks fill most of the public spaces on the streets.

    Although our past experiences at the James Avenue Pump House have been positive, this last experience was not. The server seem to lack courtesy and you felt like she wanted us to eat so she could move in to the next customer. We felt very uncomfortable there this time. The food was fair.

    We went for our anniversary and it was overall really good. Drinks were delicious, food was good although the braised tacos were a lot heavier and filling than I anticipated. It was a lot louder than expected but we were still able to have a conversation. One down fall was we asked our server to bring the food out slowly (we just shared small plates) and to bring the first one after our first drinks, but it came out like actually 2 minutes later. We had all our plates within 35 minutes which we specifically didn’t want. We will still be back.

    Disappointed, burger was small for $18 alone, braised beef tacos were swimming in grease, good but expensive beer and margarita. Overpriced, will not return. Could not adjust reservation from 2 to 3, no “openings” online even though we sat at a table for 4 and many were still open, not sure what that’s about but not impressed.

    First time at James Avenue Pumphouse: the food was really good, with a nice choice of items on the menu. The device was very attentive without being annoying! Loved being able to see the mechanics of the Pumphouse, it really added to the atmosphere. A bit on the loud side from r us older folks, but not over the top! Will definitely itely come here again!

    Great restaurant and we had amazing food, really good (although expensive) drinks, and the atmosphere was super nice and fun. Only downside was that we felt quite rushed to leave - I totally understand that there must have been other reservations, but two friends and I were catching up after not seeing each other for quite some time. My one friend was asked three times if she needed a box for her food. Definitely would recommend the restaurant and our server was great, but not really the place you want to go to sit and enjoy cocktails and talk with friends.

    Found it very loud due to a wedding party in attendance. The group was extremely loud prompting staff approaching them a few times to lower the noise level. This resulted in us rushing our meal. Other than that situation we found the restaurant enjoyable and will return.

    Food was tasty, but limited menu selections. Ambience was was good at first & the overall look and feel of the old pump house was very intriguing. Then multiple large groups came in and the experience was ruined. Looked like multiple Bachelor & Bachelorette party groups. Nothing wrong with having a good time, but these groups were excessively loud and rowdy. Felt like we were having dinner at a Frat House. All that was missing was the beer funnel! We won't be back.

    First time dining at the James Avenue Pumphouse and won’t be the last. Unique, historic setting. Great vibe but not too overrun or loud for conversations over the table despite a Friday evening visit. Service was excellent! Recommend the Taco del Pollo - 3 well sized portions with great flavour! I rarely do desserts but best choice ever was to splurge on the Georges (amazing!! best peanut butter brownie hands down!).

    The atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly. The options for gluten free foods is limited and even more so for celiac options. The after dinner liqueur choices could be a bit better. The food was good and the prices are “okay” based on portion size.
