Jamie's Italian - Square One
Located in the south expansion, the restaurant has a relaxed, vibrant atmosphere with an open kitchen, cozy bar and outdoor patio making it the perfect place to enjoy a business lunch, drinks with friends or a family meal.
A nice place, with pretty decor, high ceilings and a varied, pasta heavy menu. Vanessa our server was terrific. Music volume was high and a bit annoying. Overall, I’d go back
Went for date with my girlfriend . Great service from hostess to server. Manager even came out to ask about our food . We both have dietary restrictions and they accommodate both without hesitation . Portions was good with price . Food came out in a reasonable time. Would definitely go again .
Ordered 16 ounce glass of beer. The wasnt 16 ounces. The taste of the food was ok. Mary the server was great. The desert didnt look good at all. The price was high. Wont be coming back.
Our server is the best!
Food was good. Service was awesome
Music was too hyper for eating
We like this place. The food is great and service is amazing. We came kids (3 and 5). The menu includes kids items. Great experience overall.
I have been to Jamie's Italian many times since it opened. Unfortunately, my experiences there have declined over the years. Initially, it was excellent with excellent, if somewhat slow, service and great food (PEI beef) burger or calamari with the lightest batter anywhere served with lots of hot pepper slices. For several visits we really enjoyed it. Then the quality began to decline. There were menu changes, the PEI beef disappeared to unknown provenance. Although there are daily specials, the menu appears largely the same over the past few years. This visit was our last, the calamari was coated in a much thicker batter, it was thick chewy slices with none of the smaller calamari with crispy tentacles, as in the past, and was served with one thin slice of a finger pepper. The other order to the table had four. Take hot peppers out of the description. The pasta dishes were ok but not brilliant. The service was ok but more focused on upselling than service. It feels like a refresh is in order.
The food was not great the pasta was over done and what I expected to be a spicing Italian sausage looked and tasted like basic ground beef which is was not supposed to be.. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. If going to that mall REDs or Earls are much better.
Although they were very busy we were well attended to by our server and the manager. The pasta was cooked perfectly not overdone. Given how busy it was we were treated very well. Will return again.
Our servers ROCKED!
Give Jamie a big kiss from two Scottish ladies, we had a wonderful time, food was great, server was so nice, I want to hear back from Jamie when he is next in Toronto. been watchin him since he was the naked chef. how many years ago is that? We had an awsom time..
Ann Menzies. We will be back.
It was an amazing experience. The food was awesome and so was the service. Our server Mel was really sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu. The only criticism I would have is that when I made the reservation I mentioned that it was our Anniversary. However that was not considered or brought up at all.
But overall it was our first time at the restaurant and we had a very pleasant Anniversary dinner.
Had a family birthday, the server was very nice but clearly overworked. It took a long time to get our food, and a long time to get our dessert. However, very warm, friendly servers and hostesses and I would recommend to others and come back again.
Wonderful venue to meet with family for early Christmas get together. Enjoyed ambiance and food selections. Sat at large table back by kitchen. Easy to hear conversations. Waitress attentive. Great food with gluten free options noted. would recommend
Been heard several times and always enjoy our food!
The service was not the greatest this time around. The managers didnt rectify the bad service we received right away however told us to “email” next time we come and we will be “well” taken care of. Unfortunately we ended up getting a newer waitress who couldn’t handle working during a busy time. The drinks we ordered at the time we arrived came to the table when we were paying the bill. I dont plan on coming back to this restaurant anytime in the near future.
The server Asha was great. His wine recommendation with the truffle pasta was unusual but it worked well. The dishes that we ordered (all pasta - carbonara, mushroom, truffle) were not exceptional and lacking oomph. The carbonara was dry. The mushroom was so-so. The truffle did not taste fresh.
Love Jamie's Italian. Always great food on the menu. Excellent service. One of my favourite place to eat.
Excellent server, very patient and helpful. He made the experience exceptional! Food was great!
We had a horrible experience at Jamie's on Saturday night. It was supposed to be a special dinner that we were treating my parents to but from beginning to end absolutely no one cared about serving us. We were neglected and nearly forgotten. We made reservations for 6pm and we were 4 adults with a toddler (I mean a toddler should be a clear sign to get things moving but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt if this is not obvious enough). After we were seated NO ONE came to introduce themselves and get our beverage orders. We waited a while before someone did. Finally we ordered and got our beverages but our waiter disappeared and we waited for someone to come get our apps and dinner order. No one came. The couple next to our table came after us and they are were served their appetizer AND dinner before our orders were even taken. Finally a flagged someone and asked them to send us a waiter. After we ordered our food it took forever again to arrive. Literally looked like everyone was being served except us and we were attended by maybe 6 different waiters that night. None of which apologized for the abismal service. Not even a "we're sorry we're running behind our apologies." The manager was running around like a chicken without a head so I don't know if they were low staff or what but there was plenty of staff in the kitchen. They didn't even give us the right cutlery for our pizza until after we were served! I had to cut my toddler's pizza with a butter knife. And they didn't bring a plate for her until after the fact. Completely disorganized and chaotic. We're ordering pizzas it's not rocket science. If this is the service level at other Jamie's restaurants it's no wonder they're closing their doors. When we were finished eating the waitress asked us if we wanted dessert in the most defeated voice like she didn't care or she just knew at that point we wanted to run. Also they forgot to serve my toddler the dessert that came with her meal. Not going back.
Glad that we booked early time and arrived early, quite a busy place. The vibe is family friendly and the staffs are friendly and helpful. The staff who served our table was very busy with few big tables, but she's still trying to be attentive whenever she could. The dishes are great, at least my picky partner is very satisfied with his dishes and it's true that the sticky coffee puddling cannot be missed, I'm in love with it.
We will go again.
This was not at all what i expected from someone who is such an advocate of healthy eating. The steak was completely overpowered by the heavy coating of salt; the prawns were so rubbery and the pasta so bland that my son gave up and he will eat anything. My brown steak came with brown mushrooms and absolutely nothing else on the plate, looked awful, tasted ok. How could you not put a carrot or some garnish? And the side was french fries? Isn't Oliver all about healthy food? Good fries but heavy and greasy, and of course MORE salt. The burger was so dry and crumbly it didn't even taste like meat, we all tried it and nobody would finish it. We were there for a birthday dinner, not looking for high end food but this was a shock - not mediocre, truly bad. The noise level was awful, with hard metal, concrete and wood surfaces everywhere; staff and customers had to shout.
All of this was a shame because the service was among the best i've ever had. I had requested a quieter corner because one of our group is hard of hearing - so they put us smack in the middle of the restaurant one row over from the kitchen, next to the server station. The waitress was amazing, went out of her way to try to help, although couldn't find us anything much better. She was fantastic throughout the meal, attentive, fast, professional and sincerely warm. Gave her a big tip because of that and because she was stuck serving such bad food. In addition the busboy also checked if we would like a coffee etc when he came to clear the table, which was a level of service and interest in the customer that is rare. Shame about the food, would never go back.
Bryce was our server and he was very personable, attentive and great !!!!!
Myself and 2 others had dinner at the restaurant. the service was excellent. My sister and I ordered the Arancini and it was very good. However all 3 of us ordered a pasta and all were dry (required more sauce)
I ordered the Carbonara and it was dry. I personally like my pasta to not be swimming in sauce but this was too dry even for me. the pasta was stuck together
My sister ordered the Tagliolini Vongole and the clams were overcooked (chewy) and as well there was not enough broth in the dish.
My niece ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese and had the same issue .. too dry....
We all asked for more sauce which was brought to the table however, none for the clams as it was made to order with the clam dish...
And being an Italian restaurant and basket of bread with the pasta should have been provided. To be authentically Italian.
I will go back, but with specific requests regarding the pasta when i order.
Good location, good food with good staff. Satisfied.
Quiet in the afternoon, the luncheon specials were a good value, food was good especially the bolognese.
Will return soon.
Waitress new very little about beverages and food..
Environment was very noisy, and food was just okay.
Pretty slow service
Awesome server. They accommodate four of us even if my reservation was for only 2 people. Food was great as always and serving size was big. None of us finished our order. Noise level was energetic, even before the lunch crowd got there.
Excellent place to eat at square one!!
Poor service coupled with cold and run of the mill food
Food is not as good as last year. I used to like their pasta being hot. But that night’s pasta was lukewarm. Wait staff was ok. It’s a bit noisy but still can carry on conversation without yelling.
Our reserved table was the lone table by the bathroom door. Luckily they were able to accommodate us in the actual restaurant. Our server was very pleasant but seemed overwhelmed, and her attention to detail reflected that. My son’s kids meal was supposed to come with salad and a drink. Both did not make it to the table. My husband waited a good 8-10 minutes extra for his meal to arrive to the table after everyone else had been served. My mother in law and I both ordered the carbonara, which was excessively salty. So much so we couldn’t finish it. My husband and father in law’s meals were delicious, but sadly mine and my mother in law’s was not. I’ve been to this restaurant before and was very impressed. Unfortunately my experience this time was very disappointing. I likely won’t return.
Good service, decent selection, fair prices and tasty food!
Great quick lunch service, our server was well mannered and knowledgeable about the menu which was very helpful for our first time at Jamie’s. Definitely a great experience to have again.
We read the mixed reviews about this restaurant, but we wanted to try a Jamie's restaurant. Our review is not mixed: We were delighted with the quick, hot food and excellent service. We've eaten at Michelin restaurants on two continents. We like to believe we have high standards and educated palates. We were not disappointed. We ordered the flatbread mushroom and cheese appetizer, Jamie's Superfood Chicken Salad and the Italian meat pizza. We ate Italian family style...put it all in the middle of the table and dive in. It was a feast washed down with a very decent red wine. We should add that Tiramisu, a favorite dessert of ours, was easily one of the best we had ever eaten. Our highest compliment... Jamie would've been proud of the dining experience they served up at Jamie's Italian Square One.
My family went to Jamie’s Italian to celebrate a special occasion. Not our first either so it’s one of our choice places to go for certain events. I like the place because of its food offerings which is not very many but nonetheless special. The pasta selections are just enough. We ordered three types of pasta and all were ok. Servings are sufficient as well. For the side, I ordered fries but I hoped there’s an option for sweet potatoes. Because the sangria was 50% off that day that we went, I ordered one for myself. I found a bit sweet and did not taste the alcohol. I still like Olivier though and will come back for future celebrations.
Server was attentive and pleasant but what came out of the kitchen could have been improved. The Porcini Fettuccini pasta with wild & field mushrooms, chili, garlic, lemony gremolata, pangrattato & Parmigiano Reggiano was bland. The temperature of the pasta was fine, but the sauce left the dish mediocre and certainly not memorable.
Overall good experience. The maitre’d messed up my reservation and seated me and my friend in separate areas instead of together. And when we told them they still didn’t acknowledge that it was their fault. They thought it was funny we were sitting separately. Food was better than the previous times I attended. Noise level was good for conversations.
