Jamjar on Granville

I would try the restaurant again, and possibly recommend it if my dining experience improved the next time. It was freezing in the restaurant and those at my table could feel a cold breeze blowing down upon us. Apparently there was a new heating system being installed, but as this was known by the restaurant, it should have been communicated to patrons ahead of time. We ate our entire meal with our coats on and we still were still freezing. This certainly detracted from our overall dining experience. We were offered a complimentary dessert, which was a nice gesture.
Our first time at Jamjar was a great experience. Lovely, friendly servers, delicious food and nice quiet ambience (we were there early on a Thursday eve.) Definitely going back to try different dishes.
The service was good and our server was quite attentive. We started with humus and pita which delicious along with the cabbage salad which was fine. Then we had kibbeh which was over cooked and dry (Dark brown not golden brown). We didn't care for the lentil rice and that was more a texture thing. We did end on a high note as the date square with ice cream was really good.
If return I would make different choices.
Great Food and Good Service. The menu offers a fresh look at Lebanese Cusine.
If you have celiac, note that this restaurant does NOT have a gluten-free fryer. As a result, the cauliflower and falafel dishes are NOT gluten-free because they will have been deep-fried in a fryer used for gluten-containing foods. However, both these dishes are listed as "GF" on the menu.
I told our waiter of my gluten allergy. He checked with the kitchen after we ordered and told us that the cauliflower dish would be a problem for me. However, he did NOT warn us about the falafel (same issue); luckily, I noticed that the falafel appeared to have been deep-fried when the food runner delivered the plate, so I asked and then sent the dish back to the kitchen without touching it.
Hope they clear up the confusion their menu invites by labeling these two dishes as "GF" when, for us celiacs, they are NOT GF.
We went for a bite to eat before an event at the Vancouver writer's festival. Our food was delicious. The service was excellent and the ambiance was perfect. We happened upon Happy Hour and the wine of offer was top notch with a nice healthy pour. Will absolutely be going back. Men, women, children, vegans, this place is great for everyone!
Thanks Jam Jar my s Granville fav ! Always on point healthy and bomb food !
Was a good experience
First time visiting; we have a great time and enjoyed the wine we ordered and a selection of different hot and cold mezze!
Great food... true Lebanese experience
Jamjar was good overall. Although the dip provided on one dish was not nearly enough and after we asked for more, we were surprised that they added a .75 cent charge. The money certainly was not the issue but more of a principal issue. And .... they should’ve provided more dip to begin with. But, we’ll certainly give Jamjar another go because the food was good and interesting - worth a try. They just need to evaluate the importance of .75 cents when you’re spending $150. They need a bar presence too. The bar is hidden in the kitchen - apparently they’re going to work on it. This is the location off Granville.
Great before a show meal! Service was excellent! Fabulous tabouleh salad.
It was our first time at Jamjar. The service was good and quality of the food was excellent. The food was fresh, tasty and very well presented. The menu includes items for vegetarians, vegans and even gluten free. Our friends enjoyed the experience too.
Our bill was a bit higher than we expected, though, since we didn't realize that the sharing platters "for two" were listed with "per person" prices. (This point is stated in the menu, but is easy to overlook when glancing through the menu.)
It was an excellent find, though, and we will definitely go back for more!
Great food! A lot of options for gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan. Nice relaxed amount of time with a reservation. I look forward to visiting again!
Really great tasting food and the staff are very lovely but it takes forever to get a cocktail. It’s a small space and twice now I’ve had the seat right by the kitchen that staff can’t help but bump in to.
Overall I really like this restaurant. There’s something for most diets which is great, and like I said, it’s so tasty! Definitely make reservations if you plan on going. The walk-in seating options are pretty limited.
First time at Jamjar. Excellent food. We left stuffed!
Love lunch there but did not like that we had to order each separate item for dinner. Like the idea of a platter.
overall a very good experience for the first visit. I did indicate on the reservation that it was a birthday celebration and our server asked if we were celebrating anything and I told her birthday and that was the last we heard about it. Nothing was done or said beyond that. That was disappointing but the rest was good. They need to pay more attention to details.
The food was amazing, and our server was awesome!
Had the 3 course sharing platter. Loads of food for such a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend and go again.
Wholesome food, simply served, with the option of patio seating. Perfect for sharing. Good choice for a light dinner in warm weather.
Good food except halloumi was a bit burnt. Otherwise excellent food. Service quick and very pleasant servers. Enjoyable. Took too long to get bill. Overall , I would go back Again.
All the dips were amazing. Olives and pickled items were very salty. 3-course tasting menu was too much food for 2 adults. However, for a first-timer, it was a very good intro to the menu. Highly recommend shrimp, hummus, and spinach dip!
A little cramped for space but overall a good experience.
Severs kept bring the food without an explanation of what was on the platter. Music loud, we made a reservation but were when we arrived were not allowed to sit in the outside seating which was quieter. Our reservation was for 5:30.
Delicious variety, great for sharing with friends and an option for all dietary restrictions. Servers were pleasant & helpfully. Will definitely return.
The food was very tasty, and while you may be thinking that it's just going to be lots of pita and hummus, there is a lot of variety to try. We ordered a number of dishes and shared around - for the 5 of us, the recommendation was 8-10 (take the recommendation - the plates to share are a good size).
Had a lovely pre-theatre dinner here with a small group. The food was overall very nice although we were a little underwhelmed by the lamb sausage and the falafel balls were over-fried to the point that when I tried to cut it open, it slipped off my plate and flew across the restaurant... Having said that, the fried eggplant and falafel eggs benny at brunch is one of my fave dishes in the city!
The food, value and service were amazing.
The tables were set very close together which made it difficult to get in and out.
Totally amazing food, presentation wonderful, staff knowledgeable! Definitely
Will go again.
The restaurant was very cold. Had to keep your coat on. Servings were quite small. The best was the rice that came with the lamb Popsicle. Overall we were disappointed .
Food was disappointingly lacking in flavour. Bread was dry enough to be more like a cracker - although they did provide a small complimentary dessert after we mentioned this. We know this cuisine well and were expecting good things based on word-of-mouth. We won’t return.
Great food! Special attention was made to ensure everything had a perfect taste and was spiced to delight! Portion sizes a bit small, but I guess that's what you get when the quality is so high. Other than value-for-food, it was a delight to eat here. Very high service-standards and well dressed waiters (even refilled our water from the left side, never reaching over or making any service faux-pas).
I have eaten here many times with friends and family and it is always a huge hit. Fantastic food and great service!
The food is made to a high standard, but I would share one GIANT CAUTION against ordering too large a sampling of variety such as one of their sharing plates. All subtlety is lost with the strong flavors and oils of each dish. It's like the food is yelling at you from all directions. If I find myself back, I think a glass of wine, a plate of hummus, and maybe one entree is the way to go here.
Quality of food was mixed. Some impressive mezzes, some quite subpar ...
The food is overall good. Some vegetable items were a bit salty. I really like the Turkish coffee and the meat dishes. Overall is a very comfortable setting.
Great food and a lovely ambiance. Our group had a fabulous time!
The tables are too packed together on the side with the windows. When all diners are seated, there really isn’t enough room for people/waitstaff to walk by. They were always squeezing through. Very disruptive to the dining experience. Food was nothing to write home about. The cauliflower dish was over salty.
