Jeffrey's Restaurant & Bar has been an Austin fine dining institution since 1975. In 2012 the restaurant closed for a major renovation and was reopened by McGuire Moorman Lambert Hospitality. The legendary restaurant, nestled in the Clarksville neighborhood just west of downtown, features a lively bar and three distinct dining rooms. The menus, from executive chef Mark McCain, features dry-aged prime steaks, updated classic fine dining, and locally sourced produce. The award-winning wine list, one of the largest and most diverse in Texas, features highly-sought after vintages from Old and New World producers. Always a favorite. It’s a perfect special occasion spot. Fun to dress up for but also with their happy hour a good place to hit just because. Staff is friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The bar area has a fireplace but even in summer is very cold so bring a wrap.

We were celebrating our second wedding anniversary and the service was just superb! They catered to us every minute throughout the dinner, and made it a wonderful experience. The food was even better, everything was cooked to perfection! We will be back soon.

It took me some time make a reservation for this place…and guess what I did, made a reservation with them for the next month (there were no slots available at the Open table). Not sure what I liked most: food, service, ambiance! Thank you for the great evening celebrating my husband’s birthday! Next month is my birthday so we are going back!

The 5 of us have an annual birthday gathering in Nov. This year, we didn't get our seat selection even though we asked a couple months in advance. We were put super close to an odd couple next to us and had no privacy. The popcorn was cold and stale even after several attempts. My steak was cut jaggedly which made it tough. The fish sauce was super salty and the cauliflower puree disappeared into the dish. The Bucatini was up in price a few dollars and wasn't as savory this year. One of the servers in burgundy was very kind and helpful; the other in white looked at us as if he wished we weren't at his table (remember, we were supposed to be in the other room). There are no longer taps and there were only three choices; only one of which somewhat local. Why not support local? All in all, this place is a family favorite, but won't be for long if the service keeps dropping. For the money, history and ambience, we expect better. Thanks.

We went to Jeffrey's to celebrate my birthday. It was perfect! The food was superb; the staff was friendly, professional, and just attentive enough, and the setting offered enough separation between booths to hear other speak. The highlights were the halibut, red snapper, lobster bisque, Cesar salad, and dessert.

We really enjoyed our visit. The ambience was very nice. The wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. My husband had the Petite filet, amazing! I had the braised ribs, flavor was ok. Was disappointed that I couldn’t taste the truffle sauce, however I was told the filet is the best! So I will definitely be back for the steak and lobster bisque!

Jeffrey’s was recommended to us and we were excited to visit. It is a beautiful spot and the drinks were great. The food unfortunately was a disappointment. The prices were very high which would not have been a concern if the food was equal in quality. We did not have a steak which is what they are known for but did have Veal and Lobster which we thought would be a good representation of an impressive main entree. It was a nice evening but there are so many great restaurants in Austin, we will most likely not return.

We just love Jeffery’s for a special occasion or for a nice dinner out. The ambiance is elegant while still casual enough it’s not “stuffy”, the service is top notch, and the menu is consistently delicious - I’ve enjoyed some of my favorite steaks here!

We celebrated my husband‘s 60th birthday on November 2 at Jeffreys. Upon arrival we were greeted with happy birthday! We sat at the bar and had a drink with Steven the bartender, who is fantastic! The head, bartender, even gave my husband a tequila on the house! We were then lead to dinner, where we enjoyed appetizers of fried oysters and lobster beignets. That was followed with dinner of Beef short ribs and also the lobster and veal dish. We finished up with the molten lava cake! All was superb! Harold, our waiter was phenomenal, as well as the other wait staff that evening! It was a wonderful way to celebrate a great birthday!

Wasn’t best steak in Austin but it was good. Don’t get the pork belly you will be disappointed. They charge for water but you don’t find out until bill comes. Chairs weren’t most comfortable for a male. Bar was avg had a few good things but nothing super crazy. Overall was good experience but I think we set the bar too high

Best food and service. We are new to Austin and have tried a number of expensive restaurants. This is the first one that we can totally recommend. Excellent food and reasonable portions. You don't have to go for more food because you're still hungry when you get home. Great wine selection...wish they had local beers. We will make this a regular stop.
