JJs Restaurant at VCC
JJs is my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. I love the service and the ambience, however this time I felt the food was below average. I had the ling cod and it was very very salty and I could not finish it. I did not enjoy my dining experience this time.
So good. I almost hate to recommend it! What servers may lack in knowledge they make up for in how hard they try!
I had the daily special, BBQ Ribs, which were extremely dry, not falling off the bone tender by any means. Also, my 3 year old granddaughter was with us and she had just plain spaghetti, no sauce, for which I was charged $15, totally excessive, I thought. Other than that everything was wonderful. Thanks.
A really wonderful experience with our server Kai and the rest of the crew. Food was delightfully presented and very delicious. The staff also added a happy birthday to the dessert of a friend celebrating her 60th. We will be back!
Food looks great but a bit too salty to my taste. Service is good given that they are students. Overall it's a great steal at that price for fine dining experience
The food was excellent, especially at such price point!
Our servers Fumiya and Dave were super friendly, and made the whole dining experience even better!
Food was excellent, both the taste and the presentation of the food. Very accommodating to our Vegan Colleague. Great value for money.
We asked the waiter for sparkling water and he brought over 2 cans of soda (Different brands), we then saw Perrier on the menu and explained that was sparkling water. He was asked to bring 2 bottles and brought 2 glasses!
The server did point out the best way to eat one of the dessert items, and I would never have thought of that and it certainly was the best way.
Not a noisy restaurant which was great, so we could all talk and hear each other.
Excellent Food and service. The salmon entree was particularly good.
Welcoming, an awesome buffet, best dining experience of 2019.
Our group of 11 had a table set up in a nice open area of the restaurant. The mushroom soup was superb.
10 of the guests ordered the Salmon Entree and all spoke highly of it. I chose to be different and enjoyed clams & spaghetti. Service was friendly and very good. Pricing very fair. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant. Great spot for lunch with a difference.
THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE WAS DELIGHTFUL AND DELICIOUS. COULD NOT ASK FOR MORE CONSIDERING THE TOTAL EXPERIENCE WAS A LEARNING ONE FOR THE SERVERS AND CHEFS...
JUST UNBELIEVABLY PROFESSIONAL.
Wonderful service for a great price! Food was great and appreciated.
Lovely food, lovely ambience with personal service. Highly recommended.
My name is Sarah and I dined with Katarina. I am not Katarina. The dining room is warm and welcoming, lovely table setting. Service was great. Soup was excellent, hot. Three of us had salmon which was reportedly very good. I had the spaghetti which was cooked nicely, however I found the sauce too watery, could have been a bit creamier. Also I'm a stickler about language, and servers referring to people/patrons as "guys" is not considered polite - folks is better :) The complimentary dessert was a special treat, just enough with my decaf coffee which was specially made for me, thanks so much.
All in all a wonderful experience right there at VCC.
Food presentation was beautiful and creative. Not only did the food look good, the dishes were well seasoned and flavorful , delicious! Service was as expected. Servers were not shy/afraid to interact with guests. A wonderful experience to be repeated!
Great food great service, very good food left happy and not hungry.
Definitely the best value fine dining experience in Metro Vancouver!
This is our favourite lunch spot when visiting Vancouver. The food is extraordinaire, great service from charming students, lovely china and linen settings and all this at an amazing price! We'd travel to Vancouver from Northern B.C. just to have lunch at JJs!
Incredible value for a great meal. Will be back
3 friends and myself enjoyed a wonderful lunch at JJ’s yesterday. I am a repeat customer but the other 3 ladies were experiencing JJ’s for the first time. They all want to go for lunch here on a monthly basis. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like about our experience. Two thumbs way up from the 4 of us.
Great way to support our Culinary chefs and servers in training. Excellent food, presentation and service. Great for business lunches as the noise level is rather low, not like most places in downtown.
It was my first time going to JJ’s. Wow! Fantastic tasting food. High class service. The hospitality at JJ’s is very attentive and it was a delight to chat to the learning students. I will be back often and will now be telling everyone I know to go to JJ’s. Three - five courses for $23.00. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! Get yourself down to JJ’s at VCC downtown pronto. You won’t regret it.
The server made a mistake in one of our orders and what's more disappointing is the entrée we wanted already sold out! Otherwise everything was fine.
Opted for a pan seared scallop salad starter and salmon main course. Both were excellent and appreciated the complimentary amuse-bouche and dessert. Food is prepared and served by culinary students who were very attentive and tried their best! Very good value for money!!
Always great food! The Maître D' is outstanding and makes sure the staff (which I understand are also the cooks?) provide excellent service
This was my first time at JJ’s with the menu lunch service. I was treating a friend to lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was incredible and it was great to be part of their learning experience. We didn’t leave hungry and the quality of each of the three courses was top notch! The sweets at the end of the meal were an unexpected but wonderful addition to our lunch. We would definitely return and recommend the experience to our friends!
Our lunch took us 2 hours and the meal was very tasty. Good value for money. Will definitely go back next time.
Booked a lunch reservation at JJ’s for a lunch with co-workers. Hadn’t been to JJ’s in 10 years, and was happy to see it is as good as I remembered it. The student servers are still learning, so have a little patience - the food is worth it! We opted for the three-course lunch (appetizer, entrée, dessert) for $23 and we loved every dish we had....and barely had room for the dessert! Each dish was presented beautifully, just like in expensive, fine dining rooms. Those with smaller appetites can also order à la carte at extremely reasonable prices (approx. $5 for appy or dessert, $10 for the entrée choices). The menu gets changed a few times a year. I definitely recommend making a reservation though....the dining room is on the smaller side (this is part of a working community college!) so fills up fast. Bonus: fresh, budget-friendly baked goods are available for sale across the hall from JJ’s at the college bakery. :)
We had an excellent experience! What a wonderful job the instructors have done teaching their students. The food and presentation were well executed. They have all done an excellent job. We will be back!
I enjoy very much having lunch with friends at JJ Restaurant. I love the quality and presentation of the dishes and also the variety of deserts.
Incredible, the rest of this is to fill the 50 cha
This was our 3rd time at the restaurant
We like to treat our visitors from the uk to a fine dining experience without the high prices
Always love supporting the local college students
Also our daughter attends VCC in the dental hygiene program so it a chance for us to visit her also
Service is top-notch. The food is wonderful and i'd go there every week if I could.
