We've been eating here on our yearly Christmas trip to NYC since it opened in 2012 and there has been a decline in the past couple of years. Most noticeably in how quickly food is rushed out of the kitchen. We were served our meatball appetizer lukewarm and literally one minute after ordering it and about 10 minutes before we even got our drinks. Meals came out less than 5 minutes after ordering them (granted we both had pasta dishes that didn't require much effort, but still too fast). All in all we were done and gone in less than 45 minutes. The servers were all great and the food and drinks were tasty enough, but we would have preferred a more leisurely experience like we had in earlier years. Prices are reasonable for NYC standards and portions are decent.

We went here at 3:30 in the afternoon after seeing a show at the Lincoln center. We were sat right away. The menu is very large here which can sometimes make it hard to decide what to order but they also have prefix options. I was with a party of 4 and we placed our orders quickly. It was a longer than normal time before our salads came out and the entrees came pretty quickly after salad. We all enjoyed our salads. One of us had vegetable lasagna, one had chicken parm, one had sausage and broccoli rabe pasta, and I had the gnocchi in vodka sauce. Most of us enjoyed our meal very well and found the portions good but not overwhelming. We didn’t like the sausage and broccoli rabe flavor but everything else was good. It was quiet in the place with good ambiance.

The restaurant was like a graveyard at Wednesday lunchtime, which should have been my first clue. The food was mediocre overall, and the daily pasta special was very small for the price. We were waited on by an apathetic server who seemed not to know the details of the menu very well. As far as we could tell there were no vegan options, which caused problems for my companion, who was offered a vegan caesar salad, which turned out to be little more than plain lettuce.

I can not wait to go back. Small, intimate incredible restaurant. I ordered their new Asiago gnocchi and it was the best gnocchi I have ever tasted. My cousin had eggplant parmigiana and she also enjoyed it very much.

Meal was ok, nothing special. Crab cakes were wet n tasteless. Pasta (carbonara) was also bland. There’s not too much reference to GaGa, which is a good thing as the restaurant needs to stand on its own two feet, but it’s not that great to be honest. Staff were ok, although a little cheerless.

Food was okay. Appetizers were warm not hot. Entrées were decent, but nothing special. Prices were high for this level of food. The waiter opened the door to the back area and the dining area was freezing cold. If you’re looking for good Italian food there are better options in the area.

So glad I was able to experience Joanne with the love of my life my best friend, for the first time. Been trying to go here for more than 10 years., Not only was the food a chefs kiss we also got to meet Joe and Cynthia also which was absolutely beautiful. I can’t wait to go back again to try everything we were there from 2pm till almost 5. Thank you so much for a so wonderful time and a lovely experience. ☺️☺️ P.s. this was also the fastest service in history that I received my food within 10 minutes.

Even with the NYC Marathon taking place the day we went, we were promptly seated at our table right on time of our reservation. The waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. Food was really tasty and fresh. Overall a great experience and great staff.

Fabulous dining experience! After the NYC Marathon, my party of 10 had a great lunch. Our waiter, Amir, was fantastic, attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcomed. There was so much food we enjoyed. Some stand outs were the personal pizza with meatball, sausage & pepperoni, meat lasagna in vodka sauce, chicken Parmesan, Big Joe’s eggplant Parmesan, pasta all vodka with sausage, grilled roast garlic rosemary rack of lamb, and gnocchi in white truffle sauce. Glad to be a New Yorker so I get to revisit restaurant soon.

Joanna has a cozy intimate atmosphere. The menu is extensive and food is delicious. The servers are friendly and attentive, All in all, it's a very enjoyable place to have drinks dinner, whether in the dining room or the enclosed garden. The bar is also a pleasant place to have a drink and/or a bite to eat.

Got the gnocchi with red sauce and meatballs. Homemade taste through and through! Cocktails were fun and delicious. Felt like I was in someone’s home. So glad we ate here!

When we came in the table we were given was near the outdoor seating in which a wedding party was going to. The door was open and it was freezing cold. Asked several times to be moved or close the door. When we got our appetizer the meatballs were cold. The lobster Mac and cheese came 10 min after all the other food, in which no lobster was in the dish. We were never given bread until we asked for it over half way through our awful meal. Dessert was awful as well. Very dry. Absolutely the worst meals ever served in nyc. Very uncomfortable setting. Never return or recommend. I travel often into the city, along with family.

Are used to go here frequently when I lived in the neighborhood, but things seem to have gone downhill quite a bit in the last few years. The food was quite bland, including the lemon, chicken, friends, and even the marinara sauce, which was probably the biggest surprise.
