Joann’s Fine Foods is a lively neighborhood cafe and cantina located in the iconic Austin Motel, along bustling South Congress. The vibe is laidback with a rambunctious streak especially out on the patio and at the palapa-style bar. The decor is classic American diner—if that diner took a vacation to Baja California and never came home.

The menu features Tex Mex and diner classics, as well as a full bar with an extensive tequila and mezcal selection. $8 for one breakfast taco in Austin? This is not really a place for breakfast, although the food is good-- it is a place to sip morning cocktails and be seen. Very stylish young crowd. Impossible to park after 9:30.

Service was great. It was a cold wet evening and we had patio reservations. Heaters on patio were great at first but got very hot. They were able to turn them down so that ended up being fine. Compared to other restaurants in the area the liquor pours were really small. $17 for a couple sips of tequila. Redfish tacos and fajitas were outstanding. Green pea guac was ok.

Always surprised that I can get a table without a reservation. This place is amazing -- everything is homemade and delicious! Love the hummus, guac and fajitas! The staff is always spot on too. One of my favorite places in Austin!!

Yummy food, great waitress, and adorable decor! If we lived in Austin we would definitely make this a regular breakfast spot. Juices and smoothies were so good. We also had breakfast burritos, yum!

Love the ambiance. Servers and staff are very friendly. Recommend sitting inside to get the true diner feel! We got the Hashbrown Nachos & Migas and both were delicious. Will absolutely go back.

Joann's was a super fun place to have Sunday brunch. The atmosphere was mega cute and the menu had plenty of options. My paloma was sooooooo yummy. Service was friendly and we will definitely recommend this spot and return soon.

Cute place, packed on a Saturday for brunch and very loud indoors. Meal and drinks were good and service was okay. Good spot if you’re wanting to be the heart of SOCO, otherwise there are better places in Austin IMO.

Great lunch option on S. Congress with delicious drinks, friendly staff and generous portions. Great vegan options as well. A tad pricy for everyday eats but a fun way to celebrate birthdays with co-workers, etc. I've tried the patty melt, the ceviche, the chips and queso, the pea guacamole, the red fish and the rainbow salad- all are delicious. Their margaritas pack a punch so be careful! Super friendly wait staff and great people watching if you sit on the patio.

JoAnn's is an easy choice for MML's "Weakest Link." As the de facto hotel restaurant for the adjoining Austin Motel, it fits that niche nicely: it's a little retro and a little dingy with a lot of charm and a fantastic location. The food is... in a word, "fine." Staffers are friendly, and the service is good, especially for the restaurant's diner-like feel. Having said all of that, the pricing is patently absurd. All MML restaurants are a little to a lot overpriced, everybody knows that, but we continue to patronize the restaurants because the food is usually somewhere in the range of great to excellent and the vibes are always unimpeachably impeccable. We leave Clark's and Jefferey's and June's having had an experience. JoAnn's, however, does not meet any of those lofty bars and is therefore a bit of a blemish in the restaurant group's overall lineup.

Went there on a Sunday morning for brunch. The place was very noisy but many people appeared to be working. Ordered coffee and drinks. At no time was our coffee warmed up or refilled. Food was just okay but feel it was very pricey for breakfast food. Got lucky with parking on the street, but arrived early. From the reviews we were expecting an overall better experience.
