   Historic room(s) with a lively atmosphere. Fresh oysters were amazing, fried oysters so so. Mussels were good, not great. Service was above average. Menu, somewhat limited in our opinion. Overall great ambience, slightly above average food (at least what we ordered). Next time, we'd hang at the oyster bar there.

   I booked my reservation one moth in advance requesting a nice table. I was disappointed because the table I was given was in the was a half circle were my family were spread and we couldn’t hear each other so I asked for a table in the patio but I was told that those tables were already reserved and they got me a round table in the corner not nice but I had no choice. Since the beginning when the host called me to confirm my reservation I asked for a table in the patio but I felt that she didn’t want me to give me a table in the patio because I was told that if the patio was close due to the weather I wasn’t going to have a warranty of a table inside. Then my husband’s steak and my friend’s salmon eere undercooked and when they asked to cooked properly they bring the steak still undercooked and the salmon over cooked and they didn’t take at least one plate out of the bill or offer us that one dessert or two were on the house. I really feel dissatisfied and disappointed with yesterday experience. I think they don’t care and pay more attention anymore about having a good service and about the food because they give from granted the customers.

   Wonderful happy hour. The food here is always excellent and great value for happy hour. Great ambience and excellent service makes a great finish. Highly recommend. Be sure to book, it's busy.

    After a four year wait (due to covid) it was a real pleasure to return to Joe’s for lunch. We have to say that the service and food has not changed…it is still great service and the food is still top of its game. So, pleased to have returned to Vancouver, for one of our favourite global restaurants.

    our last rip to Vancouver and Joe Fortes was 15 years ago. Nice that some things stay the same. To start, the ambience is just great; lots of dark wood, impeccable service, and great oysters. The raw oysters were extremely fresh and expertly shucked. The selection was good as well. We then shared an order of fried "crisp" (per the menu description) calamari. It was not served hot, rather warm, heavy breading that was rather greasy and not at all crispy. This was a disappointment. Then shared an order of fish and chips (the entree orders are very large). The chips were great, both the fish and the chips were served piping hot. The quality and cooking of the fish was very good, however, it was spoiled by the over thick batter that resulted in a somewhat pasty rather than bright crispiness. The noise level is rather too much for me, but the live piano music was a nice touch. Overall, I would opt for the raw oysters only the next time. (Though the steaks did look very nice).

    The waitress and waiters are really nice and the setting inside is fantastic with a musician playing piano. The food is great, we ordered fresh oysters and mussels. We love the mussels bowl. Only one last thing we would comment is we ordered steak and eggs and the steak is a little over cooked. Overall experience is great and we will for sure come back to Joe Fortes

    Vincent made the meal even better. Knew his “stuff “. Food was awesome, staff knowledgeable and even made sure that there was a new bottle of Makers Mark for a proper old fashion!     Loved the happy hour menu! Lobster roll was a bit bland, not my fav. Felt like it was missing something. All in all we enjoyed the experience. Very friendly staff.

    We always make it to Joe fortes when we come to Vancouver. This time was not a particularly nice experience from the host (wanda), who was quite rude, to the staff on the upstairs patio that ignored us. Nobody seemed accommodating or particularly happy. There was a gentleman that seem to be a manager, and he walked around the entire time with an angry look on his face in spite of making eye contact and smiling at him he seemed completely disinterested in anything, but his own thoughts. This is a wonderful restaurant, and we love the location, food and ambience. We hope that this was just an off day.

    The food has always been consistently good at Joe Fortes. The lady at the Oyster Bar was very helpful in guiding us on what types of Oysters to select. And Wade, our server yesterday, was more than outstanding, and entertaining as well.

    The food was absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong with steak and seafood here. So fresh and perfectly cooked! The restaurant was lively and had a pianist playing all fun music with a twist. We sat inside and it was a little warm. The restaurant was busy and it took a while after we received our food to get additional service or the check but it was just because the place was poppin!

    Usually the food and experience at Joe Fortes is very good if not great. However, it was sweltering hot in the restaurant that night with no AC and the only fans running I could see were way upstairs. Could not enjoy the food and experience really as it was uncomfortable and busy do to it being Mother's Day.

    Upon arrival, our guests from out of town asked the server how old the restaurant was (out of curiosity and interest), the server stared at them blankly and stated - “I don’t know” before walking away. The restaurant was super hot, there was seemingly no air conditioning and it felt a little dusty and old. There was dust and lint along the walls. Food was okay, but it was far too much and quite oily. Loads of fries with everything which made for a lot of wasted left overs. Dessert was the only high point, recommend the pavlova.

    The oysters were top notch at a reasonable price for being so fresh. The service is second to none in etiquette and charm. The only complaint was how tight the tables were but the place was packed so I dont blame them for keeping it full. It's a must for seafood lovers that want a fancy night out in downtown Vancouver.

    Outstanding! We were a party of 6 that increased to 7 and they managed to accommodate us on a very busy evening, which it usually is. Service and food was as good as it gets! It's no wonder this restaurant is a Vancouver icon!

    The start of the evening was fantastic beautiful spot on the patio. Was initially served by a lovely gal however her shift ended therefor we were given a new server. He never came around and I finally waved him down. He was very rude and inconvenience by this. We ordered a filet med rare and it came out med well. The server took out his iPhone and used his flashlight to determine whether or not our complaint/ feedback was warranted. Super super disappointed overall.

    A wonderful welcome to Vancouver! We were warned to make a reservation and glad we did for the 3:30pm happy hour. Our server made excellent recommendations, followed-up without being intrusive, caught and resolved a problem before we had to ask, and was - as you can tell - a great ambassador for the restaurant. The food was excellently prepared and accommodations were quickly found for our group's gluten-free member. The place might be a bit noisy but we would come back most happily.

    We stayed at the Sheraton and your restaurant was recommended by the staff there. We had no idea about the noise level. My husband and I could not even talk. When I asked our waitress if it’s always this loud and she said it sure is, it’s a bistro. We just thought that we were going to have a nice dinner at a restaurant where we could talk.
