   A great restaurant for a casual or formal business lunch. Food is excellent, great choices and the lunch specials are a fair price. I have no issues highly recommending Joe Fortes.

    The food was impeccable. Our server, Megan, was knowledgeable, friendly, fun and offered great suggestions. We sat outside on the patio and the ambiance was lovely.

    The mussels were great, but the sirloin and fish entrees were not good at all. Very bland. The sirloin was too sinewy to be cut.

    My husband and I went for happy hour to have a drink and some appetizers, before going to a show. Normally, the service is great and we enjoy our server. Unfortunately, our server this time did not make us feel welcomed. Instead, it was quite the opposite. Not only was he short with us, he barely came to check on us and it made us feel very unwelcome. My husband did not like the way he spoke to him when he said they were out of bread and my husband thought he was joking. He looked at him like he was an idiot. That was really disappointing, as we love coming to this restaurant. The other staff who brought out our food and cleared our table, were very friendly. The food was amazing, as usual, so that made up for a bit.

    our server , employee #230 was excellent. The 4 of us actually commented that we couldn't see how our service could have been any better . We were all very happy with our meals and appreciated our servers comments about the fresh halibut resulting in 2 of us ordering it. The birthday girl absolutely loves Creme Brulee and was thrilled to receive it gratis to help celebrate . Looking forward to returning in better weather to enjoy the patio.

    My friend and I celebrated our birthdays at Joe Fortes, we were joined by another friend later in the evening. Together with the excellent service provided by our server, Sean, the ambience, delicious food and drinks, we couldn't have asked for a better or finer birthday celebration than we had last night, we will be doing this again, and not just for celebrations.

    We loved Joe Fortes! Our waiter was amazing. Had a great personality and was attentive even with a huge party next to us. And we can’t even describe the food. It was the most amazing dinner ever. My husband got the seafood linguine and I got scallops. Just amazing. We each got a 1/2 size of dessert which was perfect. We loved it.

    Very nice place. Food is amazing. But we had bad experience with the server Gordon. The first thing he told us when we came was: You have to leave on 7:30pm. I was weird to hear that as we just came and he is talking about when we should leave. Then he was very irritated when we were needed to pay. We asked to split the bill. He messed up and was needed to re print the receipts. He re printed them5!!! times. An every time he hysterically grabbed the receipts from our table, crumpled them in front of us. He wasn't just upset - he was mad. Luckily we were in a good mood and disregarded his unacceptable behaiviour. But this is something that couldn't happen in a such a high end place.

    Have been here too many times to count and have always been very happy, however this experience was not as good. My lobster benedict came stone cold and too many toddlers running by our table. Will ask for lounge seating next time and probably stay away from brunch hour. Noise level was just too loud upstairs.

    First, some context: This review is from someone in their 60s, who has dined out since they were 17, including many globally famous restaurants in the Canada (Montreal - still the best foodie city in Canada -Toronto, Niagara, Kingston, Toronto, Vancouver (not nearly as good as they think they are, but there are some great restos here), and countries including many locations in the US. the UK, France, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark and so many more .... My first high-end restaurant, at age 17, was at the The Cloisters, in Buffalo, NY, one of the 50 best restaurants in the U.S. during its run, and the former home of Mark Twain. So - Joe Fortes - I care not that celebs like Stanley Tucci do shout outs for their favourite city-specific restos. So - here is the review: Tourists and occasional diners crowd out this resto on weekends. It is loud ... Book a table on the second level to mitigate against this. Most of the diners on these evenings are probably there for a special occasion, and that is surely a wonderful thing. My advice, and this is with input from my chef-trained partner: If you are sitting on the fence about going here. Don't. Go - book a reservation. BUT - stay away from prime time (7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends - leave that time slot to tourists and special occasion diners) on weekends if you can (on weekends, eat after 9:00 p.m., or before 7 p.m.) ... Go at a quieter time. Or, during the week. We have eaten at many of the greatest restaurants on Earth, across many countries and cities, and Joe Fortes DOES deliver on world class food quality and service. Do yourself a favour, and arrange to dine here when you can. They really do a great job, and easily rival the best larger restos in New York, London and Paris.

    The fish and chip stayed a bit too long in the fryer so I had to cut out the actual fish and leave the batter. My wife had the fresh cod which she enjoyed.
