    The food was delicious except the fries and chicken wings came out cold. Our waitress didn’t have much time to wait on us as she was busy doing several different things. We had to go find our own silverware and napkins. We wanted to give her a little bit bigger of a tip so we went to the bar to get change for a 20 and were ignored by the bartender. The hostess was so friendly and warm, and the music was awesome!

    Went to listen to a band with a friend. Waitress took a while to come over to greet us even though no customers were there . Finally ordered food flatbread pizza- blah!!! They put pesto on flatbread pizza…different. The bread was soft and rubbery. Gross! Also ordered mozzarella sticks - probably the worst I have ever had. They came to us semi warm and tasted like something out of a box. Didn’t give us silverware…had to track her down and ask for some. She disappeared and came back 30 minutes later. My glass was bone dry. The band was decent. No, won’t be going back.

    This place is very nice. The menu was the worst part. While the options we had were great (the flatbread and funnel cake fries) they really only had “bar food” such as burgers and fries. Maybe if they offered charcuterie boards of different types it would fit more of the ambiance. The band was amazing!!

    loved the music !! Alex Abramovitz and his swingin KC Jazz Band were AWESOME my cocktail was tasty the food was a BIG disappointment When I first made reservation it appeared to be a nice full menu of seafood, salads an steak but was a small menu of hotdogs, chicken nuggets limp fries burgers and flatbread which were poor quality ok the chicken Alfredo flatbread was good , For a nice place in a great spot I expected better food.

    We were unaware that the restaurant was serving a "limited" menu. It consisted of burgers, pizza, and various fried sides (onion rings, French fries etc) Needless to say the limited menu was not only limited in options but the burgers were burnt and the flatbread was really just pizza. No one came close to finishing their meal.

    WONDERFUL bar food, we weren’t expecting that high of quality of food at a bar/jazz club. The music was impeccable and the drinks were delicious. Loved the option of couch seating also!

    Our group had a good time. The host staff provided excellent customer service and were very accommodating. Coby was our initial server - great energy. Brad was our next server after we switched tables. More gluten friendly options are needed as well as real plates, for the price of the meals and drinks (excellent) we are not at a picnic.

    Went to hear some jazz and have dinner before a concert at the Folly. After arriving I learned their normal menu was not available due to short staffing and an expected large crowd. Add to that the music started late. So the two reasons I chose Johnnie's weren't available. Won't be back, but service was good.

    The reservation process is a lot of “to do” for the overall experience. A little disappointed that the venue shared space with a movie theater as it took away from the authenticity of the venue. Band was good and the appetizers we ordered were good. Great service. It was a little more commercial than we realized. Location is convenient to the hotels in Power & Light district. Expanded food menu would be good for this venue. Overall a good time but a couple of the aforementioned disappointments.

    It was my first time there. It was boyfriend's birthday and my "adopted" daughter had just got married last week and we were celebrating. The atmoshepere and the drinks were great as well as the band. But, our waiter sucked! He had a table of 25 people come in and he ignored us virual the whole night until I went and got the manager and complained. It took an hour and fifteen minutes for our food to get to our table. When I complained to the manager he said it was their busy time of the year and he apologized profusely. I asked for some kind of compensation which we never got. I don't think we will go back.

    Not a great experience last night. Johnnie’s has a new menu with less choices and seemed much more expensive. We were able to order one drink then didn’t see our server again to order food. We left after we had sat there for 30 minutes and went somewhere else.

    This place was just “WOW” in the worse way. The waiter, Brad, and the water were the only saving grace of this place. Went with my mother for dinner and one of the workers blew my mother off and said “okay” and walked away after we told them we had a reservation at 5. Then the hostess had a nasty attitude when we tried to be seated which took 5 minutes. We were the only ones in the restaurant and it took them 35 mins to receive our entrees. I don’t understand why we needed to make reservations if we were the only customers there the entire time. While waiting for our food, we noticed that the bartender and the rude hostess were at the bar making drinks for themselves. Both my mother and I got the honey glazed bourbon salmon, broccoli, and she got a salad with her meal. She told me she ate one stem of broccoli and stated it tasted like it was dipped in butter. My broccoli was dry and unseasoned. The “glaze” on the salmon tasted like bottled BBQ sauce. No taste of honey or bourbon. I forced myself to finish the salmon. One of the hostesses had her young son with her at work. While I sympathize with her being a working mother, allowing your child to run around and be disruptive in a restaurant is unprofessional. The restaurant opens at 5, which was confirmed by the rude hostess, and at 5:06pm they were still running around setting up for the dinner service and did not acknowledge us while we waited until the rude hostess was approached. A proper restaurant would have everything set up and ready to go at least 15 mins before opening time and a professional hostess would acknowledge paying customers. Will not come back here ever again. This was a poor excuse of a restaurant.

    They were out of shrimp so we couldn’t order anything that had shrimp in it which was quite a few things. They were also out of their drumsticks appetizer AND three in our party ordered salmon only to find out they only had one left so the other two had to order something else. I realize that restaurants order from certain vendors, however, why can’t they go to a local grocery store and pick up items when they know going into the night they are out. Just very disappointing.

    Kaley was a great waitress. She made sure we were comfortable and satisfied throughout our time there. Michael, the assistant manager, also came by to check on us....The $16 shrimp taco was delicious and had 3 large shrimp on each taco. The $22 Chicken Caesar salad was large, but it needed some seasoning and more dressing. Kaley made sure we were accommodated with making my salad better with the add-ons we requested. The $15 Spiced Blueberry Margarita Cocktail was very good with a good amount of Don Julio in it. We enjoyed the ambiance and the live music. However, the intermission is too long. It's too quiet when the live music isn't playing. They need a DJ or playlist playing to keep the atmosphere enjoyable. Overall, we'll return again and try a new music performance.

    Band was very good and entertaining, but I really thought I was gonna be listening to jazz at a jazz bar, so totally different vibe than what I expected. We just ordered charcuterie and decided to leave because the drinks were small and expensive and our waiter was not attentive. Just stood at the bar talking, didn’t bring the extra pita. We asked him for, messed up our first drink order etc Didn’t wanna take a chance with dinner.

    Power and light District has a better chef! Then the Liberty Location! All Locations need to advance the bar list and to keep up with the trendy drinks ! I would like to see the menu to have specialty item! To give the menu a burst of new items! But over all the ambience is what makes this a great establishment! Date nights, Girls Night, or even just to stop by after work! Casual attire! Live Jazz nights! Check out the calendar for your dream night!

    We celebrated our 26th anniversary here. Our server Amber was exceptional. The band was excellent and we enjoyed the evening immensely. We will definitely be back.

    Disappointing. The photos make this look like a more upscale restaurant/dining experience, but that was not what my date and I witnessed. Food seemed to come from the same kitchen as the movie theater and was sub par. Cocktails were just okay. Wait staff was not great, but it was also at the beginning of the shift and not many other patrons were there. Did witnesses wait staff eating out of the bar garnishes.

    All was well and the ambience was inviting. The Jazz singer did a fabulous job. The only negative thing I have to say is that it was hot in the place. The air conditioner was not working as well as it should have been.

    Perfect evening! Wonderful food, really friendly service, and of course gorgeous old building. On top of the life music (J Love) was great but we were also able to hear each and had the best night out.

    The ambience was the best part. The music was good when they were on stage but they took over a 30 minute break. We only ordered 1 appetizer that was just ok. They were shortstaffed, only 2 servers for the place but very friendly and as attentive as could be in that situation.

    We had been looking forward to visiting Johnnie's. When we arrived we were surprised to see the club was collocated with the lobby of a movie theatre. The smell of fresh popcorn was nice but it affects the ambience of the club. The hostess told us they were "short-staffed" and that the menu would be food from the theatre's kitchen. We chose to have an appetizer and go elsewhere for dinner. The band playing was good, the service was fine, but it's obvious the "short-staffed" kitchen is a regular occurrence if not the case full time. Probably a good place to go later in the evening for a cocktail and listen to music.

    This is a great place we’re I meet up with friends for great music, drinks and good food.. The music line up has been amazing great entertainers. The general manager is amazing he makes you feel welcome… ladies he also sings… I love the atmosphere here at Johnnie’s.
